This hotel is on the back side of St Mark's Square, so it has great access to restaurants, shops, boats, a gondola station and tourist sights. Both the room and the bathroom were large in size.We paid to have a canal view, so it looked down on a gondola station, which we were afraid was going to be noise but... More

Close to St Marks square, small room but was clean and served a purpose. Breakfast was a continental buffet so was pretty good. Hard rock cafe is next door but no noise pollution from this and the view from dining room is amazing looking over a gondola station.

If you want to be close to st marks square then this is the hotel to stay in. We stayed here for 3 nights. We stayed on the highest floor which usually is good but not in this case. It was very hot up the top, had no life so walking up the stairs was fine for us but if... More

Overall, I had a great experience at this hotel. The room was nice-sized and the air conditioner worked very well, which was very important since Venice was experiencing record heat while I was visiting. The location was absolutely perfect! If you're walking down the corridor of St. Mark's Square on the side of Cafe Quadri, turn right at the Olevetti... More

Room/bathroom was small but clean with little storage but had good view over the Gondola station! Breakfast room was very small making it difficult to get to a table. Not enough staff to clear tables quickly or monitor guests taking food out of the restaurant after leaving plates of waste!!

We loved the hotel and the room which overlooked the canal and one of the gondola stations! Fabulous access to gondola ride from steps of hotel, avoiding the long tourist queues. Quick and easy access to St Mark's Square. Unfortunately and disappointingly we could not get a drink at all from the hotel bar at any time during our 2... More

After we booked to stay here some of the reviews we read on here worried me. But there was no need to worry. The staff are so accommodating, our room was cool and quiet, yes it was smallish and the hotel is on the older side but you are in Venice! If you aren't spending your whole time marvelling at... We are two mature couples and booked canal view rooms which happened to be adjoining. We loved our rooms. Clean, comfortable beds and a great view of the gondolas from our windows. Funky little lift. Aircon worked well. Breakfast was very disappointing, worst we have had anywhere in Europe! Big complaint - they have a nice big bar with a... More

Lovely hotel. Characterized by friendly staff and good breakfasts. Easy to get to from San Marco pier. Hotel is a 10 minute walk from the pier. Good variety of stores and great range of restaurants nearby. All tourist attractions are on your door step. A word of caution . Do not shop or eat immediately you arrive. Stroll through the... Great location but it was expensive. It was wonderful having a view of a canal outside our window. It was nice being so close to St Mark's square and being able to hear the outdoor concerts and go home so quickly afterwards

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
