Solid location, nice rooms, great host. The walk to the hostel from the train station isn't a short one, but it isn't overly long either. The walkways and canals can be confusing for newcomers however, so try to have a map on you. Keep an eye on how many streets down from the nearest bridge Silk Road is when you... More

Nice view , very clean well maintained place with a good breakfast and very friendly people , you're more of a friend than just a customer .I can recommend it to all my friends and if I ever make it back to Venice I'd love to stay there !

Well. I do not believe that theres a better place you can stay in Venice. Alex, is an awesome guy. He runs this place. He loves his job more than the money and you can see it!! Its located where you can see the canal. You have the ferry stops close by.

I stayed at this hostel for 2 nights and it was by far the best I've stayed in. It was more of a house where you share a room with others than a typical hostel. The room I was in had 3 other single beds in it, all female. We shared one nice bathroom. Alex is amazing. The location of... More

I just had an amazing stay. Personally b&b's and hostels are not my cup of tea, but this one is just perfect. Firstly, the owner/host is amazing. Alex! Made me feel so much at home and safe, gave me a map of venice and pointed out a lot lot lot of nice spots (including tips of drink and food). The... More

I stayed in a 4 person hostel room. NO BUNK BEDS, only singles, and of all the hostels I stayed in (1 month trip in europe) this by far gave the most personal space. You could easily put 8 bunk beds in the room, but they have left it open and not crammed. Includes locker with lock, and even a... More

I was originally booked at another hostel in Venice but they had bed bugs so I looked around for another one last minute. Hostel bookers said all the good ones were full but I tried the main website of the Silk Road and it had a vacancy SUCCESS. The hostel was easy to find using the instructions from the website... This is such a gem of a hostel! So spacious, quiet, small and relaxed, it was the perfect place for us to unwind after some busy few weeks in party hostels, and constant sightseeing/travelling. It felt as if we were staying in someone's house and suddenly we felt so at ease. We were in a 4 bed female dorm and... More

This is such a great hostel that I feel such a strong need to search for it and write this review. So when we arrived in the hostel, we were quite tired already. The owner saw us from the window, he came down and helped us carry our luggage wih such friendly smiles. Then we checked in but we didn't... More

Everything is expensive in Venice. If you want to visit on a budget, stay outside the city and commute in. Otherwise spend a few extra bucks and stay at this reasonably-priced hostel. You get a clean dorm room with huge ceilings right on the waterfront with an awesome view, a great staff, very conveniently located in the city.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
