My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel, room 354, great room and very large for not only European standards, but for Venice. It was a corner room so we had windows on two sides. When booking a hotel in Venice, to avoid lots of walking with luggage up and down canal bridges and cobble stone roads, always book a... More

An overall good experience. Large rooms and a nice breakfast buffet, although the bread is on the dry side. Missed fresh bread. Friendly service at the reception. Would have been nice with some international tv channels.

This lovely hotel is located just a stone's throw from the Piazza San Marco and in the perfect location to see all the sights while staying in Venice. The staff was exceptionally welcoming and helpful. The suite we stayed in was very spacious, accommodating two adults and one child (with a pull out bed) most comfortably. The bathroom also included... More

Placed over a corner of St.Marco this hotel is a truly precious placement. When all unlucky 1 day tourist leave Venice opens its soul. It is a fantastic pleasure to have a walk alone through St.Marco filled with water to the knee! (They offer you special waterproof shoes - socks in the hotel for free)) Some hotel rooms have a... Arrived at the hotel via water bus, which is cheaper than water taxi. Only about 10min walk to from San Marco stop, The location instructions straight forward as per hotel website. Though the hotel is based at the end of a busy street. Was quite in the actual hotel. If anything, you hear the people walking about over the bridges.... More

We stayed in room 152 (junior suite) for 3 nights early March, If you are thinking of staying at the ‘Al Ponte dei Sospiri’ it is centrally located very close to Piazza S Marco this hotel really reflects the historical character of Venice, whilst having few items that were in need of minor repair, these did not in any detract... Arriving via the water bus, great way to see the surrounding islands and start to feel the your holiday has really started. We stayed in the Al Ponte Dei Sospiri for 2 nights in a Junior Suite #251. The room was gorgeous and kept true to the type of room I'd expect in Venice. A beautiful chandelier and spacious room made for a great trip. With Venice being such a small place, we found ourselves spending a lot of time in the... More

We stayed over for two nights in this hotel and as soon as we walked through the door we were very welcomed into the hotel and Venice! The hotel was very clean and very local. I've seen a few reviews about the lift being too small, that was the best bit of the hotel as it was very different :)!

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
