Spent 3 nights at Bonvecchiati hotel. It is very central for St Marks square. Hotel was comfortable, warm at nights though in bedroom. Tip: there are no tea making facilities but you can order tea/coffee via room service, you pay €8 for this service but don't get charge for the tea/coffee, also get a cake to go with it. Showers... Location is superb, situated half way between San Marco Square and the Rialto Bridge. Room was ok but there were three of us and the third bed was a put-you-up which wasn't the most comfortable. Other things in the room (glasses, etc.) were only provided for two people until we requested an additional one. Staff need to learn to smile... More

My partner and I have just returned from a five night stay at the Bonvecchiati. The hotel could not be faulted, it's situated in a perfect central location, the staff were all really friendly and helpful and the room was cleaned to a high standard. We also had a couple of evening meals in the restaurant and the food was... More

This hotel is a real gem. It's perfectly located about 3 mins from St Marks Sqaure, and 5 or 6 mins from the Rialto Bridge. It's one one of the smaller canals, with it's own landing stage, great after a night out to be delivered back to the door of the hotel. Staff could not be more helpful.

Overall a lovely and comfortable trip to Venice and we did enjoy the hotel but compared to similar hotels in other parts of Europe not sure if I would rate this hotel as a 4 star establishment. We were upgraded from a Superior to a Deluxe room (complimentary) which was very welcome but unfortunately there were disappointments - no tea/coffee... More

My wife and I visited last week and had a wonderful stay. It was our first visit to Venice and the place is wonderful and I cannot wait to go back. The hotel was excellent from the front desk to the support staff. We had a lovely room over the canal, I decided to upgrade to get this, and it... More

The hotel location was good and staff were knowledgable and helpful. Hotel had great character. Breakfast, bar and restaurant were good. Our room was very small and cramped for 2 people and the air conditioning was unable to cool the room below 25 degrees Celsius overnight and temperature in the room during the day was around 28 degrees Celsius. After... More

The Bonvecchiati Hotel is centrally located 3 minutes walk from San Marco Square and 5 minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge. It is impossible to get lost with these two markers! The hotel is very comfortable with a good restaurant and bar which both have good and friendly service. There is a canal on one side of the hotel and... More

The hotel location is really good, but not a good choice if you arrive by car. There is a parking garage 2km from the hotel, where you can get a discount as a hotel guest, but you have to leave your keys in the car. Nobody has mentioned it. However there are other parking garages where this is not a... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
