Three of us shared a nice sized room with the best view of the gondolas right in the middle of Venice. The breakfast was fabulous and the evening desserts, marvelous! Bonvecchiati is so convenient to St. Marks, Rialto, many nice cafes, attractions ,shops and banks!

Arrived by shared water taxi which we pre-booked online. A short walk to the Hotel Bonvecchiati. We were greeted by a very pleasant young lady who checked us in for our 3 nights stay. We had booked a 'standard' room and was pleased to see we had a spacious, nicely decorated room and bathroom overlooking a small canal. On the... More

Just visited Venice for four nights at this beautiful and central hotel. Fantastic service from all staff. Easy access to all major sites. I would recommend this hotel to anyone - who doesn't want to wake up to gondolas passing your window.

Very clean & smart hotel nice decor etc. Right by St Marks Square. Great location. Staff we all fantastic, we had a delayed bag from heathrow and every time we came back to the hotel we were kept informed on the progress of the bag. Breakfast was very good plenty of choice. Free wi-fi in rooms. No tea/coffee in rooms.... More

We were here for a week and had a lovely experiece. Our room overlooked the basilica and watchtower - it was very quiet and comfortable. Would absolutely stay here again. Accommodating staff - nice decor.

This hotel had a great central location and we walked to St. Mark's and in all directions to shops and restaurants. There was a deli just down the street. The food we got there was amazing. The room and bathroom were nice. Front desk staff were rude. Except for the staff I have no complaints and would stay here again.

This is a lovely hotel with helpful staff and in a most wonderful location for visiting Venice. Great bakery in the local square as well. Breakfast was adequate but the Italians don't really do breakfast, however as mentioned do what the locals do hit the little bakeries where the coffee is super strong and the pastries are superb.

I recently stayed here with family members for a weekend away. the hotel was in a fantastic location really close to st marks square. The hotel was very clean with lovely rooms. We liked the little touches they did such as the maids coming into our room and turning down the beds and closing the curtains. It was lovely. The... More

The Bonvecchiati is ideally situated less than five minutes from Piazza San Marco, and a couple more from the Rialto bridge; it's also, therefore, an easy walk from the Rialto stop on the Alilaguna 'Orange' ferry line from/to the airport, with no steps for wheeled luggage to negotiate! Our room was small, as we'd been led to expect, but quiet... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
