Stayed here before because of the location -literally a minute away from the synagogue. The staff are great. The room is large and the bed very comfortable Could do with a bit of paint.. The breakfast is very minimal But as I said -cant beat the location

Quiet location just steps away from the hustle and bustle of Venice. Owner and staff were extremely nice and helpful. Our luggage was delayed and Sara told us where to buy inexpensive interim garments. Corraddo recommended great restaurants and we went to one twice. I could not give a better recommendation and look forward to staying at the Locanda again.

I loved this hotel. When I arrived,I brought my luggage up with a small elevator, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly especially Marcella, he was able to assist with any info my family needed to get around in Venice. The breakfast consisted of delicious coffee ,juice, a croissant, 2 rolls, butter, jelly, and cereal, there was also some fruit.... More

We stayed in Locanda del Ghetto from 20th July to 23rd July 2014. Hotel was not worth the money. Poor breakfast. Staff was helpful but limited services. Location is ok. 25 minuts by water bus from San Marco.

For a low cathegory Hotel the prices and the service are very good. The bgreakfast is not so abundant beacuse it must be strictly Kosher, as this is a Kosher Hotel. Antway we will do our best to improve tthe quality of our small Hotel. More

I can heartily recommend this hotel. The only thing to be improved, is the breakfast, which is not of a good quality. For that price one can invest a bit more in the food. The rest is absolutely fine.

It was so expensive compared with comparable accommodation in the same area. Rely on the historic significance of the building and area. The breakfast was the worst we had in our travels. The room was clean and the mattress firm. The staff were pleasant except for Sara who actually was rude and gave deliberately misleading information. Would we recommend it?... More

For the price, you will likely be hard pressed to find anything better. We booked this hotel through hotels.com and the only option was to pay on arrival but they run your credit card to make sure its valid. Well i got an email saying "your reservations have been cancelled" due to a bad card. So i had to rebook.... More

This has been, by far, the worse hotel service I have experienced in my 55 years of world travel. The first (male) front-desk clerk that checked us in was rude, abrupt, lier and a smart mouth, "we'll get the AC working tomorrow.." (never did and didn't have a fan to loan with 30 degrees heat..) "..the bar fridge in the... More

I found the Locanda to be a perfect spot for a quiet Venice getaway in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city. The ghetto is relatively quiet and the room had a balcony thet was an extra plus! Breakfast was simple, but enough. Here come the disapointments: A long haired lady in the reception was extremely un... More

This hotel is ideally located from anyone who wants to stay in the ghetto. It's one of two hotels in the ghetto courtyard, and is perfect for those of us who want to discover jewish roots. But the service was poor, the staff not particularly pleasant (i checked in my 17 year son one evening and had difficulty dealing with... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
