Quiet, affordable little hotel located in the heart of the historic Ghetto, an easy 15-minute walk to the train station and five minutes away from an Alilaguna boat stop to the airport. The Ghetto itself is a small, leafy campo where local families come to relax in the evening. The rooms are big, quiet, clean and comfy. The floors are... More

We stayed here for our honeymoon but were highly disappointed. We got put in a room on the ground floor, that looked like a storage room or maybe for the night staff to stay in. We had booked a room with a minibar, which they did not have and an air conditioned room, and we found that the air conditioning... More

The hotel was clean and well-equipped. Some peeling paint, but overall very nice. The hotel is situated in the Jewish ghetto, near the canal. We thought the location was excellent. Near kosher restaurants and synagogue. One block away from the canal and a nice street with vendors and shops. About a 25 minute walk from St. Mark's square- it was... More

My two friends and I were staying in a friend's flat in Venice but decided to have a night in a hotel. We selected the Locanda del Ghetto at the last moment. We had a room for 3 with a well appointed bathroom and a beautiful view over the Campo del Ghetto, which is one of my favourite places in... More

Stayed here before because of the location -literally a minute away from the synagogue. The staff are great. The room is large and the bed very comfortable Could do with a bit of paint.. The breakfast is very minimal But as I said -cant beat the location

Quiet location just steps away from the hustle and bustle of Venice. Owner and staff were extremely nice and helpful. Our luggage was delayed and Sara told us where to buy inexpensive interim garments. Corraddo recommended great restaurants and we went to one twice. I could not give a better recommendation and look forward to staying at the Locanda again.

I loved this hotel. When I arrived,I brought my luggage up with a small elevator, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly especially Marcella, he was able to assist with any info my family needed to get around in Venice. The breakfast consisted of delicious coffee ,juice, a croissant, 2 rolls, butter, jelly, and cereal, there was also some fruit.... More

We stayed in Locanda del Ghetto from 20th July to 23rd July 2014. Hotel was not worth the money. Poor breakfast. Staff was helpful but limited services. Location is ok. 25 minuts by water bus from San Marco.

For a low cathegory Hotel the prices and the service are very good. The bgreakfast is not so abundant beacuse it must be strictly Kosher, as this is a Kosher Hotel. Antway we will do our best to improve tthe quality of our small Hotel. More

I can heartily recommend this hotel. The only thing to be improved, is the breakfast, which is not of a good quality. For that price one can invest a bit more in the food. The rest is absolutely fine.

It was so expensive compared with comparable accommodation in the same area. Rely on the historic significance of the building and area. The breakfast was the worst we had in our travels. The room was clean and the mattress firm. The staff were pleasant except for Sara who actually was rude and gave deliberately misleading information. Would we recommend it?... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
