We stayed here for 3 nights. It was clean comfortable and quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is well situated with an easy walk to St Marks square and close to Arsenale ferry stop. We had a good continental breakfast. Our only criticism was that the room was a bit small for three of us.

We have nothing but great things to say about our stay. We arrived at 8 am and were able to get into a room to freshen up and drop our bags before heading out to see Venice. We were also able to eat breakfast which we were very grateful for after a night of traveling. Everyone was very accommodating- gave... More

Great location for Biennale and St. Mark's. Only a few steps from the Schiavoni but you would never know it, it is so quiet. Management very friendly and helpful for restaurant suggestions and reservations.

This is a small Hotel, in a great location. Very clean, the free breakfast is great. They were ready for arrival and even though we were four people in one room, they were already set-up for us. Front desk was always helpful.

Just a decent hotel very close to the heart of Venice. The breakfast is very basic and it is not worth it at all. There is no elevator so be prepared for climbing stairs especially if you are in a higher floor.

The hotel is not extremely close to Piazza San Marco, you have to walk about 15 minutes to get there, but it was not a problem for us. The hotel is well decorated, for Italian standards, and the staff was very friendly. We needed breakfast earlier one day, and they arranged everything for us. They had the best breakfast I... More

My husband, myself and our 2 girls stayed at this hotel. Prior to visiting Venice, I did soooo much research on hotels. While we wanted to stay in the heart of Venice and as close to San Marco as possible, we did not want to pay an arm and a leg for a room. We also wanted to be comfortable... More

This is a lovely, small hotel in a great location. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was quite good. Our room had been recently renovated and was well appointed. My only complaint was with the bathroom. It had also been recently redone, but was extremely small. Sitting on the toilet your knees were hitting the bidet and the... More

The staff was very friendly and helpful. My father actually became ill on our trip and the one front desk staff was so helpful to get a doctor to come to the hotel to see my father. Great experience with Hotel Nuovo Teson!

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
