We definately do not recommend this hotel. Very dirty and not value for money. This hotel has definately put a damper on our Venice experiece. You can't say it is bed and breakfast because breakfast is a sweet bun a tub of yogurt and a cup of over roasted coffee.

We were told that venice was expensive regardless, but if we knew that we could spend 30-50 euro more to get a 4 star hotel we would have done that and avoided this place. They were nice, they tried their best, for instance they gave us free wifi, (because you have to pay for usage per device, which was really... More

Great hotel in perfect location. Catch the vaparetto from the airport to stop before St Marcos stop and a five minute walk with your cases and you are right in the heart of beautiful Venice. Minutes from all sight seeing destinations, great shops and restaurants. Rooms are a good size for Europe, bathroom clean and large. Continental breakfast included and... More

Rooms are cozy and the design looks like something out of the great Gatsby. Everything is withing a 600 meters of radius. The rooms are nice and little. Bring your own kettle, no kettle in room. The management is super nice and try their best to understand what you said. Sure its located in an alley but its venice, everything... More

First be advised no lift and I was extremely rudely told by Elaina that 3 star hotels in Venice don't offer "porter" services. If you are in your late 60's and have been traveling for weeks around Europe and you have 50 pound luggage + carryons and backpacks - this is NOT welcomed news!! Add to that we were on... More

The hotel is situated in the centre, breakfast very bad, we had a cupboard in our room full of cleaning products used by the staff, no lift, narrow staircase, no Wi-Fi unless you pay for it, very bad reception in the rooms

I was pretty nervous about this hotel because of some of the reviews, but it really wasn't that bad. It had everything you needed and although it is very run down, they do their best to keep it clean and present it well. The breakfast was pretty bad and we just went to a neighbouring hotel and got a buffet... More

We had a quadriple room, which was very small, we could hardly walk around the bed. the batroom was small,, with bad and toilet very near to each other.. Breakfast was very simple, with a good service. The location was superbe, which compensated fot the small and simple, but for this price I expect more

Yes there were steep stairs, no lift and adequate shower but the room was clean, beds made daily, breakfast is what is says on the tin - CONTINENTAL. Staff were very friendly and welcomed us. Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
