We were impressed with the Hotel Lux. We had seen some poor reviews beforehand but were delighted with our experience. Our party of two couples booked early through Citalia and were given first-floor rooms just as requested. We had our luggage carried up for us, enjoyed the breakfasts in the small (and beautifully panelled) breakfast room, were met with courtesy... more

Venice is expensive. Period. There is a lot of mediocrity out there...if you want to enjoy yourself, I wouldn't recommend this place. Here is my beef: The hotel has an annex around the corner (2-star) but gets away with renting rooms at 3-star prices. I didn't stay in the main space, and maybe it is OK. I stayed at the... more

The room was in another building down the street from the hotel. We had to carry our luggage up several stairs with no help. The room was nothing fancy. We were glad it was for only 1 night. The only positive things about the hotel is that they let us store our luggage for several hours while we explored Venice... more

OK I know that you have to pay an arm and a leg for a central hotel in Venice but if you do stay here and you have booked into the hotel make sure they don't try and palm you off into another building over the street. We were shown to a dodgy little room up four flights of stairs... more

Stayed at the Lux hotel in early September 2008. It has a fantastic location but that is all that is going for it. TIny rooms (I guess it is the same with all venice hotels), tiny breakfast rooms, avg breakfast, safe (which is not working),. No bell Boy. Lugging luggage is really a pain on those narrow steps. Wouldnt recommend... more

The Lux has a great location, right near the square. Imagine our surprise when upon checking in, we were told our room was down the alley, around the corner, and down another alley. We asked for the bell-hop to help with our luggage, but we were told he didn't work on Thursdays. So...we wheeled 3 pieces of luggage plus lugged... more

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 2 days at the end of May 2008 when it was quite warm in Venice. The positives is that the hotel has great location and the rooms are very tastefully decorated. Besides that our stay was uncomfortable with many small irritations. Firstly I had to literally drag one of our 18... more

Stayed at the Lux in April of 2008. Beautifully decorated and marble tiled hotel. The rooms were quite nice too. Excellent location only 1 block from St. Mark's Square. In a quiet side alley near stores and restaurants. The only problem was the lack of a lift or elevator. The breakfast tables were tiny, but the breakfast itself was decent... more

Excellent location, 1 minute from the boat/bus stop, 2 minutes from St Mark's Square (you can hear the bells but they're not intrusive). Room nice and warm, clean, and with decent bathroom. It was nice to have a safe and fridge / minibar, also a TV. If you can't manage thirty or so stairs you're in trouble, and our room... more

I had read the mixed reviews before going, so was a little trepidacious, but rooms were hard to come by during the time of our visit. The location of this hotel is fabulous, just off St. Marks and the waterfront, but very quiet. We were exhausted when we arrived after flying all night from the U.S. We got to the... more
