Had to comment about this hotel. Stayed 3 nights in late March 2015. Cracking location 3 minutes from St Marks square ... you have to pass the bridge of sighs to get there! Very clean, great staff, love the hotel cat giada who wants strokes as you pass and will come in your room! V friendly though! Breakfast is simple... More

Stayed for 1 night during a stay in Venice. Placed in a convenient location for sightseeing, and wandering along the network of streets and canals. Clean and tidy hotel. Decor was traditional. Venetian style, and although not modern, suited the hotel. Staff very helpful, and took time to show us a map and marked places that we may be interested... More

The Hotel was booked through Easyjet and chosen for convenience. Venice maps are not very easy to read so I suggest printing off a Google Map before you travel to find the way to the hotel. It was about 5 minutes walk from the water taxi stop and very convenient for St Marks and Vaporetto routes up the Grand Canal.... More

We had booked through booking.com and got the rooms for £30 per person per night. The hotel is in a great location about 4 minutes walk to st mark's square but far enough away to not feel busy all the time. We arrived at around 2pm and 2 of our 3 rooms were ready the third was ready very quickly.... More

Disappointed with the hotel overall. The location made a significant gain - being only 2/3 streets from the square. Tiny rooms, noisy neighbours and limited facilities. No tea & coffee facilities in the room and the staff lacked customer relations. We waited in said "bar area" for friends of which the said "bar area" is at the bottom of the... More

I stayed with my wife at this hotel, it was a quite nice experience. The hotel is old but so are all hotels in venice with a taste of the old days. Even the firniture was classic. The stuff is helpful and made our stay easier.

I have serious problem with rhinithy allergic and I sent a msg to the hotel explaning about it, in the moment of my reserve (20days before). When I arrived in the hotel, my room was full of carpet and smelling really bad. The blanchets were old and full of durty. In the bathroom we found hair on the wall and... More

Nice Hotel central to most Venice attractions, 5 mins walk from the Vaporetto and St Marks Square. Smallish rooms in traditional even though a little tired Venetian style, clean and well cared for by the room staff. Has a mini bar, not very well stocked (no wine), Hair dryer but not a kettle (i missed that, i do like a... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
