We stayed here last week as part of our honeymoon and it was no where near the standard we were expecting. We should have checked the booking.com reviews before we let our travel agent put us here. No wifi in the rooms, you can get wifi between 7am-11pm-ish if you sit in the lobby. You have an option to buy... More

This hotel is in the st marcs square district and is in the Centre of everything. There is wifi in the eating area which is available from 7am -11.30pm. The staff are really friendly and speak pretty good English. The beds are pretty comfortable and the breakfast, although not 5 star is still very nice and hits the spot before... More

The hotel is superbly located: San Marco is five minutes away; a lively square full of restaurants and bars just 60 seconds from the door. Rooms are small but enough for your needs, staff are extremely helpful. There's a rooftop terrace, with views across Venice's rooftops, funnily enough, but we didn't use it. On the downside, our king size bed... More

Great location in castello which is a cosy area just 2 min walk from the St. Marcus square and Dodge palace. The intrance was a bit uncosy and the room was very small. But it was clean, quiet and with good aircondition. There was no alternatives for gluten allergics for breakfast. But all over the experience was wurth the price.

My hubby and I just stayed 3 nights, comfortable room nothing special but did have air con which was most needed and a nice shower! We had a lower floor room which I had requested. Nice staff very helpful, lovely roof terrace (NB no lift and a lot of stairs!), simple breakfast of meats cheese croissants cereal if desired. Great... More

Stayed here for my birthday weekend near the end of April, had an amazing time. The rooms were lovely and clean, the decor was gorgeous and is what you want for a stay in Venice! Location can't be beaten, so close to Saint Marc's and so many lovely shops and restaurants nearby. The roof terrace was a definitely bonus and... More

This small hotel is superbly located close to all the major sights in the city and to the vaporetto stops on the lagoon so travel to other parts of Venice is easy. The rooms are quiet and warm and air-conditioned if you need it in summer. The bathrooms vary in that some have a 'wet-room'; others have a corner bath... More

Had to comment about this hotel. Stayed 3 nights in late March 2015. Cracking location 3 minutes from St Marks square ... you have to pass the bridge of sighs to get there! Very clean, great staff, love the hotel cat giada who wants strokes as you pass and will come in your room! V friendly though! Breakfast is simple... More

Stayed for 1 night during a stay in Venice. Placed in a convenient location for sightseeing, and wandering along the network of streets and canals. Clean and tidy hotel. Decor was traditional. Venetian style, and although not modern, suited the hotel. Staff very helpful, and took time to show us a map and marked places that we may be interested... More

The Hotel was booked through Easyjet and chosen for convenience. Venice maps are not very easy to read so I suggest printing off a Google Map before you travel to find the way to the hotel. It was about 5 minutes walk from the water taxi stop and very convenient for St Marks and Vaporetto routes up the Grand Canal.... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
