I spent four days in fabulous Venice and enjoyed also my stay at Locanda Art Deco. First of all, the location is simply lovely. It's about an easy 10-minute stroll to Piazza San Marco during which you can admire several canals and bridges, the local life and step in to buy local artisan work. There are also very nice little... More

I stayed here for 2 nights. Check in was smooth and the people working here were all so friendly and helpful especially the receptionist Simone. Breakfast was ok ok. I slept in the economy single room which was at the attic but it is adequate for me alone. Room and bathroom were clean. Shower was Abit malfunction on my first... More

We decided to spend NYE in Venice and wanted to stay in the centre in order to avoid commute time. Although not cheap, we found this place to be good value compared to others, maybe fancier but ridiculously expensive. Old earthenware tiles and wooden beams are everywhere: this is probably an ancient family house converted into a hotel, fairly clean... More

We stayed two nights at this hotel. We were placed on the second floor. Since there is no elevator, I carried one luggage up the stairs and the staff also carried a piece for us. Wifi signal in my unit was not reliable. Furniture were older and vintage looking. We didn't think too much about it since we aren't in... More

Stayed here for 2 nights with friends. The hotel is in a good location not too far from st marcs square. The room we had was a triple, with vintage furniture. It also had a computer in the room and free wifi. Breakfast was a bit basic, no fruit or cooked option but we ate out so didnt really matter.... More

We have recently got back from staying at the Locanda Art Deco, which for the location seemed birlliant value - walking distance from the Rialot, St Marks Square and a waterbus station that serves venice. However, when we arrived we got taken to the top floor. It does say on the website that it is 3 stories and does not... More

We went to Venice in September two years ago. We loved it and stayed at this wonderful hotel in the middle if Venice. It was comfortable, quiet, good breakfasts and central for us. The service was excellent and I would recommend this hotel and certainly would return. I fell in love with Venice it was beautiful and did not smell... More

Service was terrible: Every little thing, like getting fresh towels or toilet paper was a big issue. They woke us up early on our second last day telling us that we needed to be out already, so in a mad panic I had to look for our booking info - it turns out that they didn't have our booking recorded... Our first room was moldy in the bathroom, some parts of the ceiling as well. We only got a new room for the second night. At breakfast, it was not possible to get a second serving (croissants or rolls). That was quite poor for 70€ per night and person. Vegans may find it highly unfortunate to eat only jam on... More

This bead & breakfast is not art deco but art disaster. We stayed for 3 nights in a three bed room in a building 100 meters from the reception. The building and roon were as old as Venice itself. The windows not closed, they hit each other with wind. The aircondition was a device with a tube through the window... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
