This Hotel was brilliant, my favourite of all the places I stayed on my trip around Italy! The location perfect, close to the sights, all within short walks and close to the Vaporetto stops. The room clean, and very comfortable. Breakfast was great and set me up for the day exploring. All of the staff I met were great and... More

We stayed as a fmaily and thought the accommodation was very good value. The breakfast was good and the rooms were huge. The only problem we had was finding the hotel at night. It was very difficult. Please state that the hotel is near the San Stefan Church and then everyone knows where that is. The wifi worked outside our... More

In any language: EXCELLENT ! The booking, the welcome, the room, the facilities, the location... All VERY good. Venice has a plethora of small hotels but this one was, simply, more than above average ! No hesitation in recommending it !

The reception desk is poorly managed, the man at the desk is rude. They don't have any elevator, so my friends and I had to carry the luggages ourselves. Then the owner/ or staff only helped us because he was complaining "we r breaking everything" I have no idea why he was saying that!!!! I didn't touch anything ! it... More

For traveling alone or as a couple for a few nights in venice its a good central location. Musea (Guggenheim), restaurants, piazza san marco, shops, supermarket, waterbusstops are within 1-15 minute walk. Helpfull staff when I lost my wallet on waterbusses. Everything worked as advertised when i visited.

Location was perfect. We ended up with two large bedrooms apartment. It was clean but not fancy. The staff and owner are very friendly and helpful. We had a great time as the first time visitors in Venice.

We arrived via the Alilaguna vaporetto here to this small alley way and finally found our quaint hotel. We were tired from rolling our luggage, however, Samuel at the reception quickly made us feel welcome and got water for us and helped carry all the luggage to our rooms. Being there is no elevator, this was quite appreciated !!! Thanks... More

Me and a friend stayed here while touring Italy for the first time. Check in was easy and paid on arrival which is different to what other reviews have said. The staff couldn't do more for us, especially the Indian man on reception who helped us to find everything and circled the best attractions on the map. We also needed... More

I spent four days in fabulous Venice and enjoyed also my stay at Locanda Art Deco. First of all, the location is simply lovely. It's about an easy 10-minute stroll to Piazza San Marco during which you can admire several canals and bridges, the local life and step in to buy local artisan work. There are also very nice little... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
