We stayed in this hotel last February (13-16) during carnival. A fantastic hotel on a great location! Very close to Piazza San Marco (2 minute walk) and the vaporetto, but, due to its location a little off the main street, very quiet. All of Venice is within easy reach from here. A very nice hotel in an old building. Well... More

This small hotel is excellent for anyone wanting to stay in the heart of venice, 2 mins off piazza San Marco. We booked our room overlooking the canal which is highly recommended. Breakfast and all amenities are excellent, as well as the staff themselves. The room is slightly small, but met all our expectations. With a little attention to detail... More

We stayed one night and it was everyting perfect. The Hotel is located a just one block to Piazza San Marcos, and in this block that you need to walk has the top nice boutiques to shop, Prada, Dolce&Gabanna, Versace, etc. Just in the door of the hotel you take a gondola ride, we ask in several spots the price,... We loved this hotel. Our room overlooked the canal and we could hear and watch the Gondoliers singing and chatting daily which was wonderful. We had no issues with the noise outside whatsoever considering the location of the hotel. It is very close to St Mark's which was a huge advantage, Unfortunately, we had to switch rooms on the first... More

Hotel very well located 2' walk from Piazza San Marco and the vaporetto station. We got the room at 12 o'clock, two hours earlier than expected. Up to 2nd floor we had to climb about 40 steps. My wife was helped with luggage. We had room 23(superior with canal view and balcony). This room was well heated , very clean, small... More

The position of the hotel is exactly in the centre of Venice close to san marko square. Next to a nice canal. Very small rooms without any space to move. Good quality and delicious breakfast. The staff was very polite.

We came here to stay for my birthday. We picked this hotel because it is in a good location. It's a 3 minute walk to piazza square, water bus taxi, and the hardrock cafe! The hotel itself is nice and elegant, offering a great continental breakfast, friendly service and small but efficient rooms. The room was very clean with a... More

I loved this hotel, although it is certainly not for everyone. Our room looked out on the canal and throwing open the windows to listen to and watch the gondoliers going by was beyond charming and so romantic. This hotel is in a fantastic location with easy walking distance to everything in Venice. It has a very old-world charm, so... More

We recently spent one night in Venice and not booked a hotel prior to arriving off the boat in San Marco. We just wanted a quiet safe place within walking distance of the sights and restaurants. It happened to be January 1st so it was not the easiest day to get a hotel. We happened to find Hotel Lisbona on... More

The location is wonderful! Quick walks to sites and restaurants. You have to pay for wifi, which I thought was crazy! You buy usage hours - I forget how much ours was (I think 10 euro for 5 hours or something). Also, they ask for the city tax up front and in cash. There is no elevator so be prepared... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
