There's not much I can add beyond the rave reviews others have already posted. Locanda Orseolo was a wonderful first stop for us on our first visit to Italy, and I highly recommend it to anyone. From the moment of our dramatic entrance from our airport water taxi through the "door" (window), we were warmly greeted and provided top notch... More

All I can add to the glowing reviews is this: open the door and you'll pat yourself on the back for choosing Locanda Orseolo. Gracious, attentive staff with no exceptions, from Barbara the owner, to everyone at the front desk, in the breakfast room, and in housekeeping. Check in to our canal side room was seamless; we took the Alilaguna... More

We stayed here in March to celebrate my birthday - from the moment we arrived we were made so welcome by Romina at reception and Lorenzo who met us off of the water taxi. Would recommend the water taxi into Venice from Marco Polo Airport (100 euro booked in UK) - such an amazing way to arrive in such an... More

This little gem of a place feels like a warm embrace. All the rooms have a theme of Italian storybook characters with full description and decor to go along. Decorated cute as a button. Tucked away from the street, tranquil and quiet. Attention to details, like your own red little slippers is sweet and thoughtful. Breakfast is nice and fresh.... More

All of the 5 star reviews are correct. The staff is amazing. They make sure that your stay is perfect. From the restaurant recommendations to the way your luggage is handled. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner (forgot his name, it was a long trip), what a gentleman... The rooms are a good size compared to other... More

What a perfect place to stay in Venice! Location was fantastic (1 minute to St. Mark's Square). The staff is OUTSTANDING and very helpful! The breakfast was great: they make you fresh coffee and eggs or crepes on top of their delicious breakfast buffet. The room was very clean. Well deserved its place as the No. 1 B&B in Venice!... All positive reviews of this hotel do not exaggerate. Number one, the staff who are trained to recall immediately everyone's name which is a pleasant and courteous surprise. They are extremely helpful and available at all times. The breakfast which is varied and copious with dishes also being prepared freshly for you - no longstanding dishes of tepid congealed eggs... 5 min walk from St Mark's Square. Lovely greeting on arrival. We had a canal view room. Room was beautifully furnished Italian style. Breakfast was superb. Eggs & crepes were cooked to order along with cereals, cold meats, fruit & pastries. Staff only too happy to assist with things to do & offer suggestions on where to eat. Can't fault... More

Go, just go ! You will not be disappointed unless you have a heart of stone and there is no romance in your soul. There is nothing more to be said !! We had a wonderful time in Venice and can't wait to return to Locanda Orseolo.

We stayed over Easter weekend 2015. My wife planned our trip two years in advance, and selecting the hotel was the hardest part. Many of the more famous hotels were priced at $800 - $1200 per night. This one was right at $300 and we wondered if there was a "catch." There wasn't. The staff is friendly and helpful. One... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
