We stayed here 2 nights, our first visit to Venice in many years. We arrived in a water taxi, right to the door. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had been upgraded to a deluxe room (thank you!) which was just lovely. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, it really is a lovely hotel and in a great position... More

Fantastic position overlooking the grand canal but away from the crowds. First class service from attentive knowledgeable staff.Quality rooms.Excellent small bar with a few tables on the canal side.Pricey but well worth it.

small room but well designed so you don't feel short of space. Love the gold walls and flooring in the toilet. Conveniently located super close to Guggenheim and the vaporetto. Highly recommend it. One thing though, the rooms should have been kitted up with a coffee machine.

We loved our stay at this hotel. Peaceful yet a great base for Venice. We arrived by water taxi to the hotel but was pleased to find a vaparetto stop there for easy access around Venice. Our room was large with a good sized modern bathroom.

We had a suite overlooking the grand canal, setting the bar high for any future stays anywhere else ! The room was good -sized and well furnished and the staff were helpful when needed. I would stay there again if I went back to Venice. Very useful spot as its next to a Vaporetto stop..which did bring some noise occasionally,... More

My wife and I stayed here for long weekend. There isn't much to say apart from excellent. This hotel has fabulous staff. The rooms are all you would want when in Venice. It is excellently situated close to all the tourist attractions and some great restaurants also the Vapouretto stop is right on your doorstep. The only thing we could... More

27/2/15-3/3/15 We went to Venice for the second successive year just after the Carnival, with another couple and enjoyed glorious weather. This hotel is beautifully beside the Grand Canal with a water bus (vaporetti) stop outside the next door hotel. The Alilaguna water buses from and to the airport also stop at this point which makes the transfer amazingly easy.... More

We started our Italy trip with our stay here. Hotel on the canal with its own boat dock for the private water taxis. The public water taxis right next door. The room was nicely decorated and a very nice bathroom. The breakfasts that were provided were very good. The staff was attentive and helped us with anything we needed. They... More

A comfortable elegant base for a tour of Venice. Great accommodations, friendly staff, excellent breakfast and cozy bar. There was a small refrigerator in our room with the usual drinks, but still room for my insulin and a bottle or 2 of wine. Nice Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom was very welcome at the end of the day because you... More

I'm not sure if it was the travel agent I used or what, but I stayed in two hotels in Italy and both of them put me in what appeared to be the worst room in the entire hotel! However, this is not a review to complain about her... ;) The Palazzo Sant'Angelo for the most part was an excellent... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
