27/2/15-3/3/15 We went to Venice for the second successive year just after the Carnival, with another couple and enjoyed glorious weather. This hotel is beautifully beside the Grand Canal with a water bus (vaporetti) stop outside the next door hotel. The Alilaguna water buses from and to the airport also stop at this point which makes the transfer amazingly easy.... More

We started our Italy trip with our stay here. Hotel on the canal with its own boat dock for the private water taxis. The public water taxis right next door. The room was nicely decorated and a very nice bathroom. The breakfasts that were provided were very good. The staff was attentive and helped us with anything we needed. They... More

A comfortable elegant base for a tour of Venice. Great accommodations, friendly staff, excellent breakfast and cozy bar. There was a small refrigerator in our room with the usual drinks, but still room for my insulin and a bottle or 2 of wine. Nice Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom was very welcome at the end of the day because you... More

I'm not sure if it was the travel agent I used or what, but I stayed in two hotels in Italy and both of them put me in what appeared to be the worst room in the entire hotel! However, this is not a review to complain about her... ;) The Palazzo Sant'Angelo for the most part was an excellent... More

My wife , daughter and I stayed in this lovely hotel in March while visiting our son who was attending school in Venice. I have stayed here many times before and as I always say first impressions are so important and at the Palazzo Sant Angelo one is greeted like a private guest, from the front desk, to the porter... Stayed for three nights to celebrate our special anniversary, had warm welcome from staff and upgrade to a suite and complimentary bottle of Prosecco on arrival. Room was comfortable and spotless and the breakfast more than adequate. Excellent location. We would definitely stay there again.

By far this hotel's best feature is its location on the Grand Canal next to transport. However, the hotel has no outdoor space save the narrow canal-side pathway and unlike the hotel next door - my room overlooked its garden. My room on the 4th floor was small and somewhat claustrophobic and I spent more time in my bathroom which... More

This was our first time to Venice and very very disappointing, at least the start of it. The 2 ladies at reception were grumpy and not welcoming AT ALL. There was a miscommunication between the hotel and the travel company... instead of a room with a view of the canal as we had requested, we were given this horrible, tiny,... More

This is a good hotel, we had a suite facing the Canal Grande and it was cozy and beautiful. It keeps the Venetian style in decoration ,which makes it all the most agreable. Breakfast is average and staff is nice and welcoming. The room is not very large, but it's highly comfy, and the situation is great, 10 minutes away... More

We had a refurbished junior suite facing the canal Grande. Nicely decorated. Large bathroom. Free in room Wi-Fi. Direct access from the airport (Linea arancia) or from the station (Linea 1) . Stop at San Angelo. San Marco piazza is 15 min away from the hotel. No restaurant but only Buffet breakfast. Many options nearby.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
