I spent two nights with my small family on my first visit to Venice.. It was a memorable stay.. very friendly staff.. nice location right in front of grand canal.. boat bus stop in front.. and very comfortable nice sized rooms. During my vacation, I always expect my hotel rooms to be clean and cozy so that I can relax... More

One boat hop to anywhere in Venice! Love this side of town so quiet but still happening. Dinner at midnight, no problem. I would def stay here again and I recommend this hotel to all my friends and family.

This hotel is very modern & seemed new with great staff. The rooms had large bathrooms & comfortable beds. I had to do some business when we arrived & the staff were great in assisting me to get it all sorted quickly. The bartender was also very friendly & knowledgeable about Venice recommending some great restaurants.

It wasn't worth paying that much for such a smelly room, as soon as we opened the door to our suite, the smell of cigarette was irritating, as if chain smokers had just left. This is supposed to be a non smoking hotel!!!! We didn't take our suitcases inside and I called the front desk, and the lady who was... More

Beautiful small hotel within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Very modern amenities. Comfortable bedding in spacious rooms. We had the room for four, two adults, two teens and it more than met our needs. We also had a great view from our window and public transportation stop were right out side.

The hotel was nice, and spacious with our own private Jacuzzi. Recommended. The room was nice and clean and nice breakfast. We were there in May 2014 it was great. The boat stop is also not far. We will go back to the hotel again if we go back to venise

What a gem of a hotel! The Carnival Palace Hotel is located in a much quieter are of Venice. It was the ideal haven to escape to after a full day of discovery throughout Venice. From the glam/modern decor to pleasant folks at the front desk, this will go down as one of my all time favorite hotel stays.

My son and I were in Venice June 2015,the hotel was modern, clean and within walking distance to the center of Venice. The hotel is right on the water surrounded by so much history. When you come to Venice be ready to walk many miles. We walked around Venice after midnight, I felt very safe, we got off the beaten... More

Great hotel on the canal. Travelled with our 2 children and enjoyed our 3 night stay in their beautiful family suite. A little out of the way, but worth the extra few minutes to get to St Marks square with vaporetto. Nice staff and good breakfast included.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
