Stayed here for our honeymoon. The hotel is stunning. We booked the suite which was just as amazing as the pictures on the website. Amazing lighting in the bathroom, that changed colour. Massive shower and bathtub to relax in. Big four poster bed and nice lounging area with a sofa, armchair and TV (no uk speaking channels though) The staff... More

When we checked in the hotel, it was a sunny day. On the second day of our visit, it started to have scattered showers and we asked the hotel staff to borrow an umbrella. Guess his feedback? He said 'we don't lend any umbrella but we sell it which costs €10/pc.'. What the heck!? Truly speaking, I'd been travelling to... More

The hotel was really accessible from the airport using the Agalluna water taxi. Staff were lovely, hotel spotless and providing breakfast every morning was great. The outside terrace was wonderful for having breakfast in the morning and then relaxing in the gardens while planning your day. Initial impression was it appeared a bit remote but within minutes you can access... More

Perfect location for us. 2nd stop for the water taxi from the airport and a 5-min walk from the train station. A couple good restaurants nearby and a great snack/sandwich spot 2 mins toward town. The room we had (402) was awesome! Double balcony, large room and a jacuzzi bath on one of the balconies. The views showed Venice life... More

Stayed at the Carnival Palace for five nights at the end of April and this was my first time in this amazing city. The hotel is 10 minutes from the Train and Bus terminal's and is roughly 40 minutes by transfer from Marco Polo Airport using the orange line (Line Arancio) which stops at Guglie, 300 yards from the hotel's... We were really happy with this hotel in the northern part of Venice. It was a 10min walk from the train station which was made even easier by a self employed porter transporting our luggage on a trolley for 15 euro. We've never had that experience before! He approached us whilst we were trying to work out which water bus... More

Was a bit concerned that we might be a bit off the beaten track but no we were minutes from a very busy area with shops, bars and restaurants. There was enough going on in this area to keep you occupied for a few days with out going to the St Marks area but if you did want to wonder... More

We recently went to Venice for a long weekend and stayed at the Carnival Palace Hotel. The price for the hotel seemed a little expensive when compared to other cities, but in Venice everything is a little more expensive than other destinations, and once we arrived at the hotel and viewed the place then I could see where the extra... We had an excellent experience at this hotel- at first I was a bit concerned about being further away from the more major areas (rialto etc) but we were glad we had a bit of a walk to the very busy areas (about 1/2 hour) but also the chance to escape. The center areas of Venice get VERY busy and... More

We stayed for two nights at the beginning of May and thought the hotel and it's staff were excellent. The rooms were small but good. The hotel is located away from major attractions but we actually enjoyed to be in a quieter area during the night. Water taxi is right next to the hotel. Highly recommend.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
