Then host is very friendly and helpful and the location is nice but that's about it. The place is not necessarily then cleanest and doesn't include the type of breakfast I would expect from a place that calls itself a bed and breakfast.

Our host was excellent, very funny, mindful of our needs. Place we stayed was not at the address of the hostel, was even better, close to Grand Canal, vaporetto station Ferrovia (train station) and Piazzale Roma (bus station). The house we shared with one more group was very clean, with our own bathroom, shared kitchen and living room. We had... More

After reading feedbacks, we decided to book this hotel and everything we met here was cool. Accommodation expenses remain lower than middle average however you get very cozy apartments, with fast wifi connection. The hotel is located near to train station and approximately 25 minutes away from saint marco square. Don't be afraid that train station is near, it will... More

My husband & I (in our 50's) stayed in the double room for 2 nights in May and we found it great value. Our room, while basic, was spacious and the bed comfortable and clean. We loved the area, very clean, quiet and easily reached from Santa Lucia train station. We can 2nd Franco's recommendation of the Osteria Alba Nova... More

My girlfriend (32) and I (29) stayed here 2 nights to start off our trip. We had a twin private. Positives: well situated and wifi worked great. Negatives: beds, if you can call them that were beyond uncomfortable. There were all kinds of small red bugs in my bed and on the walls (not sure if bed bugs or not... More

Such a cute hostel! The rooms and washroom were very spacious, the owner (Franco) of the hostel was the sweetest, kindest man. Also very clean (the owner came in everyday to clean the washroom). It is located in central Venice, and you can walk anywhere within a few minutes. Located 5-7 minute walk away from the train station and Rialto... More

I stayed in Venice for 2 days and it was great. Me and my friends, we stayed in a separated house that looked like a bnb. I felt home! We had a magic bag. We put our clothes in there and after a few hours it came back clean! Hahaha Totally recommended!

A clean hostel, more like a house that makes you feel like home. Walking distance from the main attractions, or even close to the vaporetto that leaves you one minute from it. Clean, with a breakfast included, big room and family-like fealing. Attentive and caring owner. We would completely recommend it.

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a great time. Franco is great fun and had us laughing all the time. He was very helpful and approachable. The room we stayed in was a double bed, really spacious and clean. The bathroom is also clean. It's about a 10 minute slow walk to St Marks Square and 3 minutes... More

Franco is hilarious! Total prankster. He had my wife hide my shoes within moments of meeting him, then proceeded to mock me for not being able to find my shoes. He came up with nicknames based on our real names and never once called us anything else. He gave us insider tips and directions (almost a necessity in Venice) and... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
