Excellent rooms (although dated, to be fair). Prompt and excellent service. If I had a complaint, it would be that the breakfast fare could stand some variety; we were there a week and it got more than a bit boring. Still, overall, an excellent experience.

The location of this hotel was great although a little tough to get to walking with suitcases. After reading some reviews I was a little worried about staying here but we were pleasantly surprised by the room. The size of the room was reasonable for European standards. The bathroom was a little small but manageable. The breakfast was good as... More

Nice hotel in superb location. Rooms are fine and clean . typical city hotel but I have had good sleep and ok breakfast here. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone,at the end of the day your staying in Venice which is simply stunning. You will spend very little time in your hotel.

This hotel has probably one of the most awesome locations in Venice. It's right next to the San Marco Square so easy to find when you lose yourself on those late night walks in Venice. It's a well kept and comfortable hotel, but nothing fancy. The foyer is quite impressive, but kind of belies what the rooms are like. I... More

This is a nice quiet hotel located within a half a block of San Marco Piazza. We were upgraded upon arrival to a suite which was very comfortable. The front desk staff spoke English which was helpful in asking directions. The breakfast was good consisting of cold cuts, cereal and pastry. The also had the best American type coffee we... More

The hotel is in a really nice spot just steps from the Piazza Sam Marco and near many many restaurants. My room overlooked a canal and was nice. The shower curtain was not good at preventing water from getting on the bathroom floor but that was a minor problem. With one exception, the staff were enthusiastically friendly and helpful. I... You ask for help and no one is here for you, they mention they dont have rooms and that they can not do anything úntil tomorrow. That is not the kind of service you expect from a prime time destination like venice. It is very dissapointing that as a guest we need to mention to the staff what to do... More

Was bit worried after reading quite a few negative reviews, but that quickly changed once we arrived at the hotel. Apart from the miserable night porter all the staff were great, helpful & very nice. Yes, the rooms are a little bit dated, and I would have liked a kettle to make a cuppa in the morning, but we were... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
