The hotel is located about a 1 minute walk from St Mark's Square. It is an interesting old hotel that actually is in more than one building. Part of the hotel (the towers) is actually across a small canal from the rest of the hotel where the lobby is. There is an indoor bridge to get across, so you might... More

Rooms: We had trouble finding space for our two suitcases. Bed is standing next to a wall. I personally have never seen that before in a hotel! Tiny sink in teh bedroom - why? Overall very run down and downright depressing. Bathroom: is maaaaybe two and a half foot wide. If you are not a small person, beware as you... More

stayed here for 2 nights after cruise. the room we were shown to was not the room we booked. it was down a dark laundry littered corrider. i was appalled by the size and it was so dark inside. i think the lighbulb had been glowing since CASANOVAS day, when i pulled the curtain back the view shocked me,as we had... This is definatly a 4 star hotel. Slight signs of age and loud cleaners in the morning but this is the only fault! The staff were polite and happily made our dinner reservations; the hotel offered a complimentary trip to murano at very short notice and advertised local theatre productions which were very cheap and we are informed this is... We were pleasantly surprised and pleased with our stay at this hotel. Good sized room. Friendly staff. Great location, right outside of San Marco Square. Great breakfast included. All around a wonderful experience!

We travelled here in October 2014. The location is great, right of st.marks square... but the cold breakfast very poor and the size of the rooms extremely tiny.... we were out of the room most of the times which was the best... even fitting 2 suitcases in the room was struggle...

The only reason this hotel deserves a single star is due to its location otherwise it should be given a zero. Room sizes are big (It's supposed to be an all suites hotel) and that's all what you get. There are no amenities. Forget about tea coffee maker, this is the first hotel where they don't even provide cups or... More

Located right behind San Marco square, this is definitely at a prime spot. You can easily reach anywhere in venice you want from here. However, it you're looking for a nice, bright and warm room this isn't the place to be. The building is very old and they don't seem to have done much updating. The rooms are surrounded by... More

This hotel was decent, but be aware that the rooms are very small. We had trouble fitting in two pieces of luggage into our room. The location is good, very close to St.Marco and centrally located to everything else. Really can't get much better location. The staff was nice but the hotel lacks in service, there was no functioning hotel... More

Well I like to stay positive as no one really wants to read a "rant"... To start this review I have to tell you how close it is to St Marks Square, just second away from the hustle and bustle of the busy square, quietly positioned down one of Venice's tiny back streets. The hotel is very easy to get... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
