Stayed here for our main holiday period Could not wait to leave. The reason being we were returning to wonderful Venice 3 weeks later and would stay somewhere worth staying. Our original report has been removed obviously because of the truth. There was dog fouling in the lift . Rudeness of staff. Accused of using balcony for dining !!!is that... More

The garden apartment itself was a little average. It was however in a great location (Venice ;0) near to Piazza Barnaba and Margherita, close to the Ca Rezzonico ferry stop. The apartment itself didn't have suitable wifi although the agent did try to address this when asked the replacement was very intermittent. Silvia (the agent) was very helpful and informative... Plenty of room for us all and a great central location with wonderful views. Just yards from a vaporetto stop and a great square with lovely restaurants. The apartment was well furnished and much nicer than staying in a hotel. Silvia who met us and was our contact during our stay was extremely helpful giving useful recommendations for places to... We just left Venice and had a great time in the 3rd floor appt (jacuzzi one). The location is very useful, the view from the terrace is lovely and the kitchen well equipped. Very quiet even though it is very close to the canal, the appt has a good atmosphere and spending time in it is very relaxing. The jacuzzi... More

We stayed in the Penthouse apartment with fantastic views over the Venice rooftops. Absolutely spotlessly clean throughout. All rooms are a good size with antique furniture. The location is excellent; only a minute walk to the vaporetto stop and a short walk from the Accademia. Bars and food 5-10 minutes away in 'buzzy' square. Note: there is a 50 or... More

I stayed in the garden apartment which is very unusual for Venice as you can access the garden and so use it for relaxing and dinners. The apartment worked although as it is quite expensive and still does not offer WiFi or international TV or some other amenities, it may not suit travellers that are used to at least WiFi... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
