Perfect location. Local cafes and bars nearby Residential area. In a week I would have expected the towels to be changed - a minor criticism. Convenient for vaporetto stops. peaceful clean staff helpful good free wifi connections

This is a great place to stay! It's in a quiet residential area, yet still less than a 5 minute walk to lots of restaurants, the train station and Vaporetto stops & only about a 10 minute or less walk to Piazzale Roma if you're coming in by taxi or shuttle from the airport. If you're getting dropped off in... More

Located very near to Venice Santa Lucia, it is rather tricky in the beginning to find, but it is very near. The room is quite full equipped with all cooking and eating equipment. Possible to buy food from nearby supermarket and heat it in the room. The heated water for showering is sometimes not so stable (can be suddenly cold... More

We were actually here in late September to early October 2013, staying 5 nights. This accommodation was spacious, clean, quiet and we had a small view from our window onto a backwater canal, and only 4 minutes from the railway station. The staff were helpful and accommodating as we had to leave early when departing. Would definitely stay here again... More

Very good apartments in good location for central acess but in quiet area. Newly refurbed well equipped and very clean. Good access to Cannaregio canal for evening meals. Slightly odd layout meant sofa not great to sit in and shower area a bit cramped but overal good Would use again. Advise to plan route as difficult to find in dark... More

We stayed here 4 days, very spacious room and bathroom. Small fridge, in - room coffee maker and even has a washing machine! No dryer though, so bring a line to dry. 5 min walk to ferrovia vaporetto stop, this stop has both main canal vaporetto lines as well as more obscure lines. Night line stops here too. 15min walk... Arriving by train, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that this hotel is just 200m walking distance and does not require hauling your bags across the steps of any bridges or into any boats, absolutely the most convenient place for easy access with your luggage on arrival. We watched many other tourists waiting in line for expensive water taxis... More

We arrived 3 minutes after 7 p.m. and had to pay the late check in fee of 20 Euros - make sure you get there before 7 p.m.!! Apart from that, the staff were friendly and fairly laid back and the apartment was a good size: one double bed room (with lots of storage space), a sitting/dining area with two... More

My partner and I were have a long weekend in Venice and wanted something convenient and not too expensive. Alberghiera Venezia was both. Location wise, it's very central and most importantly easy to access as we had a late flight into Venice. We took the ATVO bus into Piazzale Roma and was then a 10-15min walk to the hotel past... We chose Alberghiera Venezia to get more space for our family than a normal hotel would offer at a reasonable price for a one week stay, and we were not disappointed. Our apartment at the top floor (out of two) consisted of two large separate rooms with a double bed in a bedroom and a double sofa bed in the... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
