My friend and I have been coming to Venice annually for 8 years, and this is the nicest hotel we have stayed in. On arrival, Patty (the owner) greeted us warmly and presented us with a complimentary glass of prosecco and a tray of salami, cheese, and toast, which was very welcome after the long journey. The location of the... More

We stayed two nights and were very pleased. The rooms are quite large, very unusual for a European hotel. The staff speaks enough English that we had no trouble communicating with them. For Venice, I found the price to be a great value. They do want you to pay in cash which it states on their website. An adequate breakfast... More

Stayed here for a week based on a Steves' recommendation and was not disappointed! The biggest positive for this pensione is location. It's 5-10 minutes from the nearest vaporetto stop, and 5-10 minutes from St. Mark's. As others have stated it's on a quiet square so noise should not be an issue, however we had noise issues simply because we... More

We stayed for three nights in a room which overlook the small and quiet courtyard leading to the entrance. It was relaxing to sit in the evening and watch families in adjacent buildings coming home from work and school while we drank wine. The room was typically small but clean and QUIET. The A/C worked great which was a bonus... More

Stayed 4 nights at this excellent hotel. Room was clean, spaceous and big enough. The included breakfast was OK. Location was excellent just a 5 minute walk from Piazza San Marcos. We loved our stay.

We stay at this hotel for 2 nights. We were given a map and directions to the hotel which were easy to follow. The hotel was in a great location, easy walk to St Marks square, and very quiet street. Ms Patricia and Mr. Mommy were very helpful and pleasant. Rooms were clean and had a good breakfast.

This is a B&B with 6 rooms. The service here was great, some of the best I've received anywhere. The reception and breakfast staff were very helpful and friendly. E.g. We had to check out early, prior to when breakfast would ordinarily be served, so the B&B organised an early breakfast for us. The location is good, it's very close... More

My wife and I were here in July 2010 for 3 nights. The room was not large, but it was clean and very comfortable. The people were extremely nice and helpful. The breakfast was simple, but thoughtfully prepared and done well. The best part is the location, only a minute from San Marco and a few more minutes from the... More

We are very satisfied of the service in the hotel. The staff was very helpfull and friendly. The room was perfectly clean. The location is wonderfull in quiet square near St.Mark's. We had breakfast outside that was a good start of our days in Venice. We will recommend Casa Querini to our friends. We hope one day return to Venice... More

This was the first time I have stayed in an inn. The staff was very kind, and even moved up our breakfast time to help us with our train schedule. The location is perfect with a quick walk to St. Mark's, yet this hotel is hidden enough where it is quiet and not tourist-ridden. I would stay here again anytime... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
