We stayed here for 5 days, waiting for friends to join us. This hotel is small, friendly and located on a very quiet square only minutes from St Mark's. Easy to find -- even the first time! Staff was always friendly and ready to help. Thank you for a very pleasant visit -- you helped make it enjoyable.

This place was a recommendation from our Rick Steves guidebook and it did not disappoint! The helpful staff and beautiful rooms were great as was the very convenient location. It's in a quiet square but once you've gotten your bearings navigating around isn't too difficult.

The location of this hotel is very central...close to the water taxi stop, walking distance from st.mark square. The owners are very nice and friendly . We could walk thru entire Venice from here and enjoyed every bit of our stay. Much recommended.

This hotel was perfectly situated for our three days in Venice. It is located in a very quiet piazza, but less than ten minutes from St. Mark's Square - and even less to the vaporetto stop. In addition we enjoyed the friendliness and helpfulness of staff, a good breakfast, and a room that was clean, spacious and very nicely furnished.... More

I booked this hotel because the reviews were good but mostly because it was described as easy to find, and a lot of hotels in Venice are not. It is literally 10 minutes from the San Zaccaria vaparetto stop, which is about a 5 minute walk to St. Mark's square. We arrived in the late afternoon and found the hotel... More

Casa Querini is actually a pretty good hotel. Its a bit confusing to get to and the way to get there takes you through some dark alleys, but once you understand Venice, you realize that theres a lot of seemingly creepy back streets and "alleys" which are not all that creepy once you're used to them. For its location its... More

Tucked off a back alley a block and a half from St Mark's Square you will find this gem of a hotel. Upon our arrival we were greeted with the bubbly hotel manager. She helped us get our bags into the room and gave us the complete rundown of the area and the hotel (wifi, close restaurants, hours, etc). The... More

This hotel was perfect for our visit to Venice. Located on a very quiet square, yet only five minutes walk from St. Mark's, ten minutes to Rialto bridge. And very convenient to the Vaporetto/Alilaguna stop at San Zaccaria. A fantastic location from which to base walking tours of the important sites, yet seemingly far from the crowds. The room was... Casa Querini is a place that relies on its super friendly staff to make this place special. I was welcomed by Federica who i felt was genuinely interesting and interested. I had a first floor good sized room overlooking the piazza of San Giovanni al Nouvo and had a king sized bed and coffee making facilities. Place was clean and... More

This accommodation offers 6 small but comfortable rooms that are clean and have a fridge and AC. The fridge did not work in our room but the air conditioning was fine and the windows opened onto a quiet piazza. The location is just minutes from shops, good restaurants and St. Mark's Square while being just far enough away to be... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
