We stayed in this small hotel the first week of August, and would highly recommend it. Good sized room with its own AC (which was really important given the heat) and fridge. Great location - close to St. Mark's but very quiet - plus very close to the San Zaccare (sp?) vaporetto stop, which made it very easy to get... More

Wonderful room, close to St. Marks, but very quite. Staff was very helpful. Delightful experience, I would stay there again. It was quick and easy to reach, great restaurants nearby. We loved sitting at the tables in our own little "campo".

The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was small but adequate, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The continental breakfasts included pastries, fruit, cereal, hard boiled eggs, juice, coffee, and tea. The location close to St. Mark's Square was perfect. We followed Rick Steve's travel book recommendation and we were not disappointed.

Our time spent at this lovely B&B was delightful! The rooms were fairly spacious, very clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The breakfast was minimal (coffee, yogurt, fruit, rolls) but suited our needs just fine. The location is perfect - close to restaurants and shops - and on a quiet courtyard. Very friendly and helpful staff!

Very convenient location just a few minutes walk away from restaurants and shops. Hotel is on a quiet court which is a welcoming respite from the bustle of tourists on the Piazza. Staff was friendly and very helpful.

We just spent five days at this hotel. Location is quiet and convenient. Rooms are small but enough storage space to get organized. Wi fi and AC work well. I was not feeling well, so I spent a lot of time in the room. Venice is magic, and this hotel adds to the magic.

Small, charming and reasonably priced, this hotel is a gem. VERY quiet, yet less than 5mn from Piazza San Marco. Well kept, clean and comfortable... What more do you need! We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

This nice hotel is in a quiet piazza close to St. Mark's Square. The owner's daughter helped us a lot when we were there in May, 2015. The room was very clean and nice, located up a small flight of stairs. Breakfast was at a small table on the piazza and was very good.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
