Very convenient location just a few minutes walk away from restaurants and shops. Hotel is on a quiet court which is a welcoming respite from the bustle of tourists on the Piazza. Staff was friendly and very helpful.

We just spent five days at this hotel. Location is quiet and convenient. Rooms are small but enough storage space to get organized. Wi fi and AC work well. I was not feeling well, so I spent a lot of time in the room. Venice is magic, and this hotel adds to the magic.

Small, charming and reasonably priced, this hotel is a gem. VERY quiet, yet less than 5mn from Piazza San Marco. Well kept, clean and comfortable... What more do you need! We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

This was a very nice little hotel near St Marks in Venice. It was very quite, had a very friendly staff and I have WONDERFUL memories of sitting in front of the place having breakfast and coffee to start my day.

This nice hotel is in a quiet piazza close to St. Mark's Square. The owner's daughter helped us a lot when we were there in May, 2015. The room was very clean and nice, located up a small flight of stairs. Breakfast was at a small table on the piazza and was very good.

Charming hotel minutes from Piazza San Marco. Room with all the amenities. Staff was very helpful. One caveat, we asked for the Rick Steve's discount after we got there and they wouldn't give it to us. Suggest requesting it when making your reservation. Breakfast outside is lovely and staff brings you coffee and rolls.

We enjoyed our stay at Locanda Casa Querini, but it was very, very difficult to find at night (we arrived around 10 pm via train). The alleyways in Venice are poorly marked and many locals had not heard of the square the inn is located on. It took us an hour of wandering late at night to finally find it.... More

We found this hotel using the Rick Steves guidebook. Located on a quiet "campo" (square) just a short 5-minute walk from St. Mark's piazza, this little place was simply outstanding. The room with private bathroom was clean and comfortable, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. If and when we return to Venice, my wife and I will definitely... More

Lacanda Casa has three outstanding attributes, location, location, & location. We stayed with our nearly 13 year old granddaughter during the last week of March and could not been happier with our choosing to stay here. Every thing was close, St Mark's Square, Rialto Bridge, Accademia Bridge, San Zaccaria vaporetti stop, you name it and it was there. The location... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
