in a very expensive city like venice this is a good option, the location is very convenient and easy to find! obviously dont expect any kind of luxury for the price you pay. we booked a double room with shared bathroom and we got a complentary upgrade to an ensuite double bedroom! which it was a nice start in venice,... Very convenient location when arriving by train. We arrived after a cruise, took the new "People Mover" (cost 1 Euro) to Piazale Roma and then an easy 10 minute walk to the hotel. Our double room was on the 4th floor facing street. Very noisy all night long. Room itself was a little worn and in need of a redo.... More

We stayed at the Zecchini because it was very close to the train station and the ferry terminal. Had to check in at a neighbouring hotel because the Zecchini was unattended - also had to breakfast next door because the Zecchini did not offer any dining facilities. Reception was efficient enough, but without a smile or any friendliness. We were... More

2 nights in September 2010 Pros V.close to the station, less than 100m to your left. You don’t really want to be dragging luggage around Venice. Vaperotto to San Macro takes about 45-60mins, but very easy to take. Value for money. Less than 100AUD per night (booked in advance). Shared bathroom is in good condition, does not appear to have... Dirty rooms, stinky and hot. Rooms with air conditioning but they said it is only available in July!!! Ridiculous excuse. I was not able to sleep due to the incredible number of Mosquitos in my room at night. To make things even worse they don't have Internet signal, not even paid. Probably to prevent us from reviewing them on trip... More

This hotel is very small, don't have an elevator! the brakfast is confuse, and simple. But is very near the Sta Lucia Station , what is good if you arrive in Venice at night. To look your hotel walking with bags, through the small streets it is not recommended, because you can loose yourself.

I had booked into the neighbouring Atlantide, but being November there was a note on the door directing me to this hotel. Staff were very nice and helpful - although slightly impatient with the vending machine. The machine did coffee, but apparently not tea and when I tried, the hot chocolate was fine. The hotel is not the most romantic,... More

We chose this hotel do to its closeness to the Train and Bus locations. And, after two prior visits to Venice, I knew I did not want to "drag" my suitcase up bridges and cobblestone streets, especially in the evening. We picked the hotel based on location and reviews. We were arriving by bus and it was a short walk... More

We only stayed one night at this hotel. The location was very close to the train station (5 minutes maybe less). There was no lift in the hotel which was kind of a pain. Check in was smooth and the guy at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Our room was TINY....not a lot of room to even put... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
