Good value for money in a pretty expensive city. Staff are friendly, rooms cleans, beds comfortable, aircon worked just fine and bathrooms were pretty good. Safe and secure place to base yourself for a few days in the city. Breakfasts were good enough for a 2 star with some decent options. Wifi worked out as well. Not very fast but... More

Stayed here on 7/13/15 and again on 7/17/15. The innkeeper was friendly and you immediately got the feeling that this place was run by an entire family. Definitely liked the family atmosphere of the place and the hosts were very friendly toward me and my friend. It was a 5 minute walk from piazza roma so the location was ideal.... More

I stumbled upon this quaint hotel after failing to find anything decent or affordable with all my smartphone apps and all the related booking sites. I dared to step back into the pre-internet days and just walked in and smiled and asked if, by any chance, they had any rooms available. And a very friendly young man graciously welcomed me... More

I would have given Tivoli hotel a "very good" rating for its cleanliness, central but tucked away and calm location, and the cozy size of their single-person bedrooms, which were perfect for a lone traveler. Not "excellent" because their wifi cut out very frequently, and because the decor gave off a dusty, outdated vibe. But why "average"? Because on my... More

Location is ideal, in walking distance to St Marks, nice n clean value for money. This was our first visit to Venice n we found it was an excellent location. The taxi boat picked us up from airport n dropped us at hotel only 2 min walk. A lovely stroll to St Marks square. Lovely shops on route. Would defo... More

Off the beaten path, this hotel is in a quiet area that seems more residential. The staff was friendly and helpful and they recommended a good restaurant to eat at our first night. The rooms were spacious and clean with working AC/Wi-Fi. I loved the garden patio area for breakfast or to just sit and take a break. The breakfast... More

Clean , comfortable and a very helpful staff. Short walk from the train station . Study a map before hand . It is easy to get lost in Venice, even after we have been there. Our room over looked the private court yard , which was a nice place for a drink and a snack . Good breakfast to get... More

Let me remind myself that this is a two star hotel, no more. This hotel basically just provides a bed (not comfortable and VERY squeaky) and a shower to wash. Rooms are clean and provide all you need, however the bathroom had a smell and is very small and awkward - the shower is basically on top of the loo... More

This place is a treat for anyone traveling on a budget. Very big bang for the buck, this place exceeds 2-star expectations. Wifi and a breakfast buffet are included. The staff is very friendly and polite. They even appreciated (or tolerated) my continued fumbled attempts at Italian greetings and salutations. The best part is the picturesque courtyard. It is an... Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
