We booked the hotel based on a great price and an ideal location but when we got there it was so much more. We were given room 3 which was clearly freshly renovated and absolutely beautiful, with a view over the quiet little canal. It was a short walk from both St Mark's square and the Rialto bridge and was... More

We stayed in a room on the third floor and it was spacious and clean. The location of the hotel is perfect, just a 5 minute walk to San Mark's square. Breakfast is simple but nice and in general, the hotel is very good for the price.

The staff at this hotel was friendly and breakfast was nice, but the rooms are a bit worn and very small. For our family of four this was an overnight stop and therefore great for the price. The location was outstanding. Just a minute or so walk from St. Marc's and a nice little neighborhood atmosphere.

Venice is Magical! It’s incredible and I loved every minute of my time there, the Locanda Silva Hotel, not so much. I traveled to Venice from Naples and while it was easy to get around, It took about 5-6 hours and three trains. I was a bit tired from carrying my luggage. The hotel doesn’t have a lift and my... Nice hotel, a bit worn, room could of used a little paint. We could see when Mosquitos had been squashed on the yellow walls. I think reasonable for the price. Excellent service at front desk, fast internet. They even gave us a second login for both our electronic devices. Bathroom small but clean. Great view over rooftops with beautiful breeze... More

Despite this hotels proximity to San Marco, I would never stay here again. We stayed in room 17 and not only was it dated with a bright green completely green bathroom, but it was also filthy. I'm reviewing this on the train leaving Venice as I felt the need to spare someone else my dread as soon as possible. The... More

Great locality, bit on the basic side but for budget accommodation it ticks the boxes. Breakfast is rolls/croissants and cereal. Fine for a night or two, we travelled with 2 kids so good to get everyone in one room.

This hotel is a great value in venice, where even basic accommodation can be hundreds of dollars per night! Great location close to San Marco. We stayed in a shared bathroom situation ( my first time and I was nervous) and it was fine. toilette and shower are separate rooms, and we never had trouble having to wait for someone.... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
