We (family of 4) stayed in a one bedroom for three nights. There were two large beds which was adequate for our short stay. The bathroom was clean and very large. The location was excellent - walking distance to everything! On arrival in Venice get the public ferry and then it is only a five minute walk to the hotel.... More

Stayed 2 nights in July. Rooms were a good size. The shower was extremely tiny. Being 6'1, I was very cramped. Good breakfast. Good front desk. Next to a canal and a reasonable walk to the famous square. Nothing spectacular about the place.

This is a very small hotel on a canal within a short distance of St. Marks square. The staff was great and very helpful. The room we had was larger than expected and the bed quite comfortable. If you are a tall (or big) person, you will have problems in the shower...it's the typical European tiny one. The breakfast was... More

Brilliant location, under 300m from Piazza San Marco. Room was comfortable but small, as we expected (after all, this is Venice), but had a spacious bathroom so we put one of our cases in there. Breakfasts were fantastic - delicious pastries and breads, cereals, yoghurt, cheese and ham, and coffee. Serve yourself with most items so plenty to eat. Only... More

Price is fine for this clean and centrally located hotel. Our room was pretty small, but also came with a balcony overlooking a canal. Breakfast is included, and it's just fine. Nothing extravagant but pastries and jellies, cheese, cold cuts, and hard-boiled eggs, Their coffee is great, too. Bed could have been more comfortable, but it was fine. Wifi worked... More

I do not know where to start from. But if you are planning to stay in Venice, my advise is search for another hotel or accommodation. To start with, most of the staff are not helpful at all and they do not have any authority of any kind and the answer is always "the manager is not here, we will... More

Me and my wife visited Venice in March 2015 for 4 days.We choose Locanda Canal 3* for two reasons: medium price and great location,300 meters from San Marco square. The hotel is small, situated near a small but lovely canal. The rooms are ok,kind of small but very clean which in our opinion is the most important aspect. We liked the... More

Had €100 stollen from our room, served stale bread for breakfast and then charged for "extras" as we left! Avoid like the plague! It's difficult to find and you'll be lucky if there is any one to open up! Venice was ridiculously expensive and the locals take any opportunity to rip you! Thankfully, will never have to return!

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
