This hotel has a superb location-if you arrive with Alilaguna it is only about 200 meters away and if you arrive with train it is about 300 meters away. This time we were lucky and got a quiet room on the fourth floor but on the other side....carrying two heavy suitcases up the stairs was a bit of a challenge.... More

Room is a little pricey, but that's just Venice I guess. The location was great, both in terms of easy access to the Railway Station and Piazzale de Roma, and in terms of being in a beautiful area of Venice. Staff were helpful (we couldn't get our ATM or credit card to work, and they were very relaxed about giving... More

Located down a little private laneway, close to the train station Hotel Guerrini was a great hotel for us during our 3 night stay in Venice. An easy walk into St Marco Square through the winding street and bridges gave us a wonderful Venetian experience. Close to restaurants. Breakfast was served downstairs in a small but suitable room and included... More

Hotel Guerrini surely was unexpected charm. Being situated about 100 metres from the train station and water taxis made its location perfect. There are a lot of curio shops and restaurants in the same street. The room and bathroom was well equipped with what one needs and we had of the nicest breakfasts there in Italy that included cold meat,... More

I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED with this "2 star hotel" heating is not working, AC works just in cooling mode with limitations, there was no internet, curtains has blood stains, there is no sheets for blankets which means you have to sleep with other people sweat on you. Shower gear wasn't cleaned for months. Chair was nearly broken, towels was dirty, sound... More

The room was clean and neat. The WiFi was not so smooth. But the location is good especially if you plan to travel with train. The room was small and so was the bathroom. We stayed in a room placed on the opposite side of the reception. The breakfast was served in small room. Breakfast was so so. There were... More

We arrived at a very busy time of day for the hotel staff and they were extremely accommodating, giving us a room early and helping us with directions and suggestions for our day. Our room was as we expected, nothing fancy or huge, but certainly spotlessly clean and with a lovely feel about it. Yes the decor is far from... More

Lovely hotel, big room and fantastic location near central station, water taxi and ferry services. Shopping, restaurants and Venice sights are all around. Hotel staff very friendly and breakfast was lovely. Internet was not very good and steep steps led us to our room which was difficult with 3 women travelling and large suitcases. Just down a little side alley... More

We booked this hotel, due to the fact that it was convenient to our arriving by train and we only staying a few days--and was within our budget at the time. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was small, but fit the three of us comfortably. There was a small hidden bed for my son. The bathroom, in the room,also... More

The best thing about this hotel is its location - a five minute walk from the train station, 30 feet away from one of the tourist streets Lista de Spagna. No luxuries, but all you need to spend the few hours you will want to waste in your hotel, and an excellent place to have breakfast at a small table... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
