Being close to the train station is the best part of Hotel Guerrini. Other than that, it was a disappointment but Venice hotels are extraordinarily pricey in tourist season anyway. Our 1st floor room was dark and dank, with a moldy smell that permeated everything. Mosquitoes kept us up at night. Bathroom was tiny, with a shower so small that... More

Convenient and charming. Like other reviewers have noted, wifi is only for one device, so if you are sharing you may resort to stealing wifi from other rooms. (Other rooms may also steal wifi from you.)

This is a great little hotel, basic, clean and well-priced for its location. The staff were always helpful and courteous, my room and bathroom clean and the air-conditioning and wifi both worked well. I loved the location; a little laneway away from the hustle & bustle but conveniently located near the train station and vaparetto stop. Plus it's Venice, so... More

Good value for the price. Very good location near to Railway station and Vaporetto stop. The main shopping street of Cannaregio is 20m. Friendly staff, quite good breakfast, free WiFi but not too stable. There is only vending-machine Cappuccino for breakfast, it's not common in Italy. But you are in Venice and the hotel is really budget. It was our... More

Conveniently located near train and bus stations. A 5 minute walk will get you there. Look out for a large red archway on your left as you follow the road leading from the station. The room was spotlessly clean as was the shared toilet next door. The free WiFi was reliable and a decent speed (6 Mbps). The breakfast room... More

Stayed for two nights and don't have any complaints at all. Very good value and rooms and sufficiently clean and spacious. The front desk staff were very friendly and helped us book tickets and so on, and spoke good English. Location is great (VERY close to the main train terminal, just a short walk) but Venice is so small that... More

Location was great. Upon arriving to Venice from the train, I noticed people climbing the bridge wth their luggage thinking, oh no!, hope I don't gave to go that way?! And guess what? No I didnt. The hotel is straight down the street to the left and not far. This hotel was close to the water taxi, and when it... More

Room was comfortable, if very simple. Shared bathroom was...as expected. The roof was leaking when we were there, but it's Venice and everything is old. Breakfast was nice and staff was pleasant. The location was Fantastic - mere steps from the train station and the main vaporetto stop (for the fast one), plus many shops/restaurants nearby.

This hotel is very close to the station -- which is really wonderful in Venice because you don't need to drag your luggage far after arriving. It's also close to vaporetto stops. It's split over two buildings. I was in the secondary building and it was a little plain, but clean. I'm fairly certain when I booked it didn't mention... More

Stayed for two nights on 17th and 18th October. The guy at the counter was very cold all my queries. Our daughter was with us and we were given room on the 3rd floor at the corner. You carry all your luggage to the 3rd floor climbing steep narrow staircase. The room is small no proper furniture. The shower too small with... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
