I had a few days off and fancied visiting Venice again as all my previous trips had been one dayers. Spent a few sessions on the PC researching hotels. We wanted somewhere which was close to the Piazzale Roma as we intended to jump on a bus from the airport. As our flight did not land until late, the hotel... More

We arrived early having come on the overnight train. Our room was all ready for us which was fantastic. We had a room with a shared bathroom. Seemed to be only a couple of other rooms on our floor, so no problem sharing. Not an extensive choice of breakfast items but more than adequate. Friendly staff. Hotel is near the... More

I needed somewhere to stay for 1 night in Venice, that didn't involve lugging my suitcase over miles of bridges, and wouldn't cost me a fortune either. Hotel Guerrini was perfect. Near the bus and train stations, with just 1 bridge to cross, and in a quiet, pretty alley that was so peaceful it was hard to believe the heaving... More

Strange hotel experience this one. Ok where to start. When we arrived our room wasn't ready which was less than ideal but these things happen. The when we did get a room it was like an annex - as in we went out of the main entrance and next door had a like small apartment - was a bit weird.... More

This hotel is located a short 10 minute walk from the ferrovia train station. It is similar to most 1-2 star Italian hotels in that the rooms are small and no stairs. They did have a good breakfast and free wi fi.

Being close to the train station is the best part of Hotel Guerrini. Other than that, it was a disappointment but Venice hotels are extraordinarily pricey in tourist season anyway. Our 1st floor room was dark and dank, with a moldy smell that permeated everything. Mosquitoes kept us up at night. Bathroom was tiny, with a shower so small that... More

Convenient and charming. Like other reviewers have noted, wifi is only for one device, so if you are sharing you may resort to stealing wifi from other rooms. (Other rooms may also steal wifi from you.)

This is a great little hotel, basic, clean and well-priced for its location. The staff were always helpful and courteous, my room and bathroom clean and the air-conditioning and wifi both worked well. I loved the location; a little laneway away from the hustle & bustle but conveniently located near the train station and vaparetto stop. Plus it's Venice, so... More

Good value for the price. Very good location near to Railway station and Vaporetto stop. The main shopping street of Cannaregio is 20m. Friendly staff, quite good breakfast, free WiFi but not too stable. There is only vending-machine Cappuccino for breakfast, it's not common in Italy. But you are in Venice and the hotel is really budget. It was our... More

Conveniently located near train and bus stations. A 5 minute walk will get you there. Look out for a large red archway on your left as you follow the road leading from the station. The room was spotlessly clean as was the shared toilet next door. The free WiFi was reliable and a decent speed (6 Mbps). The breakfast room... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
