Staying in the center of Venice surrounded by canals is always an expensive choice. Venice Mestre is more reasonable but requires a daily vaporetto round trip of $7€ each way per person and/or long walks to major attractions. The hotel Bel Sito et Berlino is Located in Campo St. Maria del Giggulo-- the perfect locale. If desired you can have... More

Our room was good but not large. It was fine for a three night stay, but with limited hanging space and no drawer space at all. which meant living out of a suitcase, it would have been tiresome for a longer period. The bathroom again was compact but nice. The staff were mostly friendly although the greeting we received seemed... More

I had a long thought process before booking this hotel because some of the negative comments particularly about the reception people and small bathrooms were really worrying me..so do you have a different thoughts? Probably NO! However, I have to admit that we did get answers to all our questions and inquiries but manner and attidues were not really great.... More

We stayed at Bel Sito end March 2015. The hotel is ideally situated being 5 min walk from St. Mark's square and central to lots of sight seeing. The staff were very warm and welcoming. Service excellent. Breakfast great - plentiful. We stayed in room overlooking the canal it was lovely. Would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit... More

The hotel offers for a reasonable price what you would expect for a romantic couples trip in Venice! Nice and clean room with a pleasant oldish feel but functional! Bathroom is small but this is Venice! Breakfast is good and served on the first floor in an nice setting. The hotel is very well located - no more than 100... More

We stayed at this little gem for three nights at the start of our three stop adventure to Italy. Having never been to this part of the world before we booked through Citalia and happy to say the hotel didnt disappoint in its old style charm and excellent location for both the water transport and walks to all the areas... exceptional location, just a short walk (less than 2 minutes) from giglio vaperrato station, no bridges or steps. opens in a small square, quite and quaint location. san marco is only 5 minutes walk, very clean rooms, smallish beds though and no tea making in room (needed in winters), superb breakfast by any standards.. free wifi in room and good... The Bel Sito was perfect for our short break in Venice, comfortable rooms, great breakfast, close to the heart of the city but on a calm quiet square near to the Vaporetto stop at Giglio, Friendly, helpful staff. Just what we needed. Stayed with teenage son and student daughter. We all loved it (though we maximised our time in Venice,... More

My boyfriend and I spent a few nights here and we absolutely loved it! Great location, lovely staff, clean and comfortable rooms, and a nice breakfast. Due to the lower price of this hotel compared to other hotels, we didn't have very high expectations, but we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very close to a lot of the attractions... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
