Positives - location, breakfast, friendly and helpful staff and Grand Canal view (sorta) Negatives - small rooms, no wifi in rooms(during our stay), stained sheets and towels, on the pricy side. I stayed here over Easter weekend with the bf, we're not finicky travelers, and generally roll with the punches, however our stay here was more than a little disappointing.... More

We stayed at this property in Mid-November. Our room was a little on the small side, but was clean and well appointed. The location was wonderful. We could lay in bed and watch the boats on the Grand Canal. It was within walking distance of the train station and around the corner from the water taxi stop. Wi-Fi was available... More

We were in four and stayed in two different rooms. Our room was a bit small but comfortable. My Aunt's room was bigger and had a nice fireplace(decorative). Staff was helpful, nice and welcoming. I was looking for the bidet but then found out that it was incorporated in the toilet. Our room was clean and we had a nice... More

This beautiful small hotel, which was once a cloister, is conveniently located just across a bridge from the railway station, and very close to the public transport vaporetto. We have stayed there at least five times, and will return. It's lovely and very quiet. There are many excellent bars and restaurants nearby, and the very friendly staff willingly makes suggestions... Beautiful hotel right on the canal. Rooms are delightful with view straight onto a small canal. Bedding, linen and decor beautiful. Accommodating staff. Very convenient location not far from the train station. Delightful garden area overlooking the canal. Sip a wine and enjoy the view!

This place was just fantastic. It's more of a B&B than a hotel - it has no bar or restaurant, but with it being so brilliantly located, that makes no difference as you will be out exploring anyway! You can walk to anywhere in Venice really easily, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the courtyard out front has a... More

We only stayed for a night at the end of a trip to Venice/Lake Garda. The Hotel staff were good and the room had a view out across the courtyard to the grand canal. Location-wise it is excellent for the train station and bus hub. I think that the room may have been too small for us if we'd have... More

For our 2 night stay in Venice, we couldn't be happier with this hotel. Our room was as requested with a view of the canal and breakfast on the terrace was perfect. We found the staff friendly and helpful. A bonus was being able to have a drink in the garden of the sister hotel across the square. It was... More

Fantastic location within walking distance of Per Rialto and San Marco. The single room was a good size and had a bath :) Breakfast included and served on the rooftop terrace overlooking the Grande Canal. Friendly staff, great experience!

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
