Stayed at hotel 19 July 2015 for 2 nights. 294.00 euros Greeted very pleasantly by Roberto, he was very helpful, with ferries etc. Given room on 1st floor, lift in hotel, so great with luggage. Stayed in a Standard double room, room was clean, no frills, on the smallest side, with a tiny bathroom. As mentioned previously shower is over... More

The Hotel is well located. It's a ten minutes walk from Piazzale Roma and/or Venice Train Station and Few blocks from Grand Canal and Vaporetto stop. Many Restaurant around for all tastes and budgets. The Hotel is clean, rooms with A/C, and the breakfast is good enoght, with friendly staff. Wifi is for free and it works fine, just a... More

Our fourth stay at the A.D. Fanali. Location is excellent: 10-15 minute walk from Santa Lucia railroad station and/or Piazza Roma area. The most inexpensive rooms are, indeed, very small - as is the bathroom; however, more than adequate for the limited amount of time spent there. Sleeping was quite comfortable - but if your room is close to the... More

The hotel is in a perfectly central location! We arrived at 11am and check in wasn't until 4pm, we asked if we can leave our luggage in store room and they said we could just have our room early, very nice and a massive help for us! Hotel is clean and staff were always friendly. Small rooms, but that didn't... More

On arrival at this hotel, we were a little early so we were told to come back in a couple of hours. To be fair the receptionist put our cases in a room for safe keeping. On gaining access to the room itself, we were quite shocked at how small it was. We stayed in five hotels throughout our trip... More

Location was good, close to grand canal and could easy walk from bus and train station. Rooms clean but small, shower over the bath was very awkward to get in and out of , although our friends had a shower cubicle so check when booking. would have been difficult for an older person to use. Breakfast was ok ,usual fare... More

It is located close to the train/main boat stations, the staff were friendly and helpful, it's got this very nice place on the rooftop that you can have your breakfast, great view, quite clean and comfortable ... The rate (including breakfast) amounted to around 200 Euros, although this is better than the average hotel, but it felt a bit expensive,... More

Pros: quaint, peaceful and quiet, good breakfast, close to train and grand canal Cons: very far walk if you want to get to the main attractions, spotty wifi, awkward bathroom, small rooms First time to Venice. With that in mind, I would have stayed closer to Rialto odor easier walks to the main attractions. Other than that, we loved opening... More

Just had our first time to Venice and stayed in this hotel, we were happy with the position of the hotel as it was near enough to bars and resturants and a reasonable walk to the water bus but some distance from the main busy square. Hotel was nice and clean TV in room but all Italian and mini bar... More

Positives - location, breakfast, friendly and helpful staff and Grand Canal view (sorta) Negatives - small rooms, no wifi in rooms(during our stay), stained sheets and towels, on the pricy side. I stayed here over Easter weekend with the bf, we're not finicky travelers, and generally roll with the punches, however our stay here was more than a little disappointing.... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
