Great location for our family trip to Venice but bathroom was shabby and the bed and pillow hard and uncomfortable. Expensive. No tea and coffee facilities in room as in most hotels. Pleasant staff though.

All in all a perfectly acceptable hotel. Yes you can find fault if you look hard enough but nothing really that will ruin your trip unless you let it. Yes it probably could with a bit of refurbishment but the bed was comfy, the linen clean, the water was hot and the staff very pleasant. I would use this hotel... More

Great location ...just a few metres from St Mark's square. Room was comfortable, clean and the staff very helpful. Had better breakfasts on our trip but this was perfectly reasonable ...nice to have it on the terrace outside

This hotel was very cute and in a perfect location right off of San Marco's square. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was small but charming at the same time. It had everything we need and the bed was comfortable. There were not a lot of breakfast options but that was ok with me, it's just nice to... More

After reading great reviews I decided to book despite the very Venetian decor (I prefer a more modern/simple look) I learnt when searching for a hotel most hotels in Venice even when paying for 4/5* all tend to look a bit "busy". I am however so glad we stayed here! Biggest positive is the location! A few steps away from... More

This is an old hotel with charming features and furniture. The staff is welcoming, especially the man who welcomed us the first day! The rooms are split in two buildings, so in our case we had to eat breakfast in another building. The breakfast is nothing much - I would rather eat breakfast somewhere else. The location is REALLY central,... More

I came there with my mum and gran a couple of days ago, and on a whole, it was a nice experience and a very good and standard hotel. The staff were extremely kind there and the rooms were good, more appropriate for a couple however. However, I just say that the breakfasts were quite nice but the choice was... More

No elevator and we have to drag our luggages up to 3rd floor. The staff was very friendly and helping us to transfer the bags to our room magically. Rooftop breakfast is a must. Only 50 meters to St Mark's square. Take the Aqua bus #2 to Rialto and walk to hotel in 15 min.

Breakfast on roof top is a must, staff was exceptionnally friendly, a few steps only to St. Marc's square, location is the best. We asked for extra pillows since the supplied room pillows were a little thin, the front desk, immediatly and gladly responded with supplying us with 2 additional pillows and a smile.

Less than a minute from St Marks square. Family room was comfortable, clean and the children beds were good. Breakfast was the usual fair of Brioche, cold meat, cheese and cereal. Caught the water bus to and from the train station. One Highlight was a gondola ride which was 80 euros flat fee for half an hour during the day.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
