Breakfast on roof top is a must, staff was exceptionnally friendly, a few steps only to St. Marc's square, location is the best. We asked for extra pillows since the supplied room pillows were a little thin, the front desk, immediatly and gladly responded with supplying us with 2 additional pillows and a smile.

Less than a minute from St Marks square. Family room was comfortable, clean and the children beds were good. Breakfast was the usual fair of Brioche, cold meat, cheese and cereal. Caught the water bus to and from the train station. One Highlight was a gondola ride which was 80 euros flat fee for half an hour during the day.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Right next door to San Marco's square. The worst thing about the hotel are the many vertical stairs leading up to the reception, schlepping heavy bags up these stairs after hours of travelling in intense heat with no help will be a reason why I won't stay here again. The staff... More

Comfy small Venetian hotel in a fantastic location! Short stroll away from St. Mark's square and within a 5 minute walk to Rialto Bridge and the Grand Canal. Staff were all very friendly and spoke great English. Breakfast was a free cold buffet on the rooftop terrace which had a small variety of cereals, cold meats and bread. Room was... More

This hotel is only 200m from St Mark's square and very close to water bus stop. The hotel is quaint and offers cleanliness, a friendly and helpful staff. We stayed for 3 nights. However due to the small size of our 'family' room, Room 8( very small and minimal natural light) we asked to be moved to a larger room... More

This is not a fancy hotel, and we knew that going in, so it's not fair to review this based on amenities, etc. This hotel is literally a minutes walk from St Marks Square. The staff were very friendly. The room was basic (as advertised) and was fine for my wife and I and our 2 kids. The price was... More

Hotel has no lift and is approximately 36 stairs to the check in desk then another set of stairs to the rooms which reside on 2 more floors, price was ok, breakfast was included, but it was very minimal, location was good right off St.Marks square by the boutique shops.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel - which was a tad hard to find initially. You need to walk down the far side of the Piazza away from San Marco (at your back) and it is the 2nd pathway from the Caffe (there's a bridge visible). Then it is just down the pathway a few 100 yards. It is... More

Our room was spacious, beds not super comfortable, but we had a great experience due to the friendly/helpful staff, great breakfast on the roof terrace, and the perfect location, you really can't beat the location of this hotel! Wish we could have stayed longer!

This hotel is set in an ideal position just off St Marks Square. The hotel is quite small but full of character. The rooms are furnished with typically ornate Italian furniture. Bathrooms and bedrooms are quite small but adequate and the situation of this hotel more than makes up for the size. The staff are very helpful and willing to... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
