Hotel has no lift and is approximately 36 stairs to the check in desk then another set of stairs to the rooms which reside on 2 more floors, price was ok, breakfast was included, but it was very minimal, location was good right off St.Marks square by the boutique shops.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel - which was a tad hard to find initially. You need to walk down the far side of the Piazza away from San Marco (at your back) and it is the 2nd pathway from the Caffe (there's a bridge visible). Then it is just down the pathway a few 100 yards. It is... More

Our room was spacious, beds not super comfortable, but we had a great experience due to the friendly/helpful staff, great breakfast on the roof terrace, and the perfect location, you really can't beat the location of this hotel! Wish we could have stayed longer!

This hotel is set in an ideal position just off St Marks Square. The hotel is quite small but full of character. The rooms are furnished with typically ornate Italian furniture. Bathrooms and bedrooms are quite small but adequate and the situation of this hotel more than makes up for the size. The staff are very helpful and willing to... More

We were very pleased with finding Hotel San Gallo. It is a 2 minute walk from Piazza San Marco. We got off the Alilaguna at the San Marco stop, went to the square and found the street of the hotel right off of the square. We crossed a bridge over a picturesque canal and there was our hotel. There is... More

This tree stars hotel's location was great. Breakfast was Not very good but enough. Bathroom was small but This wasn't important for us. Room was clean. Employees were kind. At that time wasn't cheap but because of it's location , we didn't mind.

Very charming Hotel. We chose it because of the easy to find location and the fact that they offered family rooms. We read in the description that there was no lift so that was not a surprise. The gentleman on duty ran down the stairs to grab our bags without being asked! The room was spotless..air conditioning excellent...bathroom was spacious... More

My husband and I came here with my parents for two nights. I had let the hotel know ahead of time it was my husband's and my anniversary and also I was a travel agent checking out their hotel to sell to my clients. When we arrived there were tons of stairs to drag your bags up which was frustrating... More

Exelent location, nice room and special kind staff. Also price included a trip Murano Island private boat. Breakfest was good medium standard. Hotel was very tidy and room cleaning every day. Warm shower was possible only in the mornings.

Perfectly situated next to Piazza San Marco and an easy walk to the Grand Canal, this hotel was charming, clean, and comfortable. The front desk staff (especially Vito) was extremely helpful with directions, times, and suggestions regardless of the activity. Breakfast was delicious and filling. Highly recommend this lovely hotel!

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
