we were pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness of our room (111) when we finally managed to find the hotel...even the GPS on the phone struggled. The information on the website to find it was useful and worth either printing out or following. We arrived early and left our bags no problem. Breakfast was adequate in a small room on the... More

I booked this hotel through Expedia and when we got there, the hotel was close and there was a note on the door indicating that it's currently close for renovation and we were to check in at Antico Panada which is about 100 meters away (that's it, no clear description of which direction, considering that the streets of Venice is... We were thoroughly disappointed with the room we were alloted. To make it worse, the behavior of the staff was much to be desired! Will not recommend this hotel to my friends. However, the location was good, very close to Rialto.

The Citta di Milano was hard to find but once we reached Campo San Zulian local shopkeepers were able to direct us to the hotel. Citta di Milano is full of marble and granite and the walls are loaded with colourful pictures. Of course they are reproductions but they are wonderful nonetheless. Our high ceilinged room was elegant and comfortable.... More

Just came back from our trip and feel like saying a few words about this hotel. As expected it wasn't easy to find it, but it didn't take too long at all to find that little door in the little alley. We were fortunate to be given a room on the 2nd floor (the one with the golden silk wall... More

Small hotel, just a few minutes to walk from St Marco. My sister and I have visited Venice and this hotel september 2013 and we came back september 2014. The rooms are in different sizes and the beds are good. The location is really central, but still it's quiet at night and you'll get a good rest at night and... More

This hotel has its own charm. Hotel was a little hard to find, a little hidden. Make sure to print out a google map before you go. I did,and we still got lost. The streets length are tiny, i was expecting city blocks, so I overshot it by a lot, once we got there. Just kept asking peeps too. checking... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
