Easy to get to from water taxi. Located within easy walking distance of attractions and shops. Room was clean and tidy and sound proof from the Gondolas passing below on the canal. Breakfast included in our stay and was good value. Staff friendly.

Our room overlooked the street, square, bridge and one of the many gondola trips. It was wonderful. The room was well appointed, very quiet when the windows were closed which was amazing as it was wonderfully 'noisy' when they were open. The breakfast was very nice. Definitely recommend this hotel!

This boutique hotel is a 5 minutes walk to Piazza san Marco. Rooms were beautifully decorated and beds very comfortable . We had 3 rooms (6 people) all canal view . I know people have mentioned small showers but I'm thinking that may be in the basic rooms as we were fine with what we had (my daughters ended up... More

This hotel is in a very convenient location in the San Marco section of Venice. The employees were helpful with our questions and very friendly. The room size is about normal for Italy and very clean. I recommended this hotel to other friends that followed us to Venice and they were equally pleased.

We had a view overlooking the gondolo station and the church square just a short walk from St Marks square. The hotel was clean and the service very good. It was a short two night stay and we couldn't have picked anything better for a reasonably priced stay. The air con worked like a dream and was really appreciated after... More

We couldn't have asked for a better location. The hotel was an easy 5 minute walk after being dropped off by the ferry at the San Marco/Vallaresso stop - only had to lug the suitcases over 2 small bridges. The hotel was right there in front of us as we were on the second bridge. It was on a canal... More

This is an awesome boutique hotel that is in the PERFECT location. Literally 5 minutes from San Marcos Square. We had room 302 which included the roof-top, private terrace. The room was clean and the terrace was amazing. The only complaint was that our poor AC could not keep up with the heat outside. The room was just a bit... More

We stayed here for a couple of days before a cruise. It is close to Alilaguna bus stop so was easy journey both from the airport (about hour and half) and to the cruise terminal (about half an hour) We stayed in room 203 which had great views of the canal and the street below. It was a good sized... More

We stayed here 12 years ago and loved the location. While tempted to stay in and explore a different Venice neighborhood, we again booked the Violino d'Oro for 3 nights in June at the end of a cruise. We stayed on the 1st floor (up one flight of stairs or elevator) and discovered a balcony overlooking a canal and gondola... More

Great location in Venice. Minutes away from San Marco and the Grand Canal not to mention Harry's Bar a must if you are in Venice. Comfortable room and good breakfast. Free WiFi that works well. Friendly staff.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
