Don't let the exterior pictures of the gondola backlogs scare you. Yes, it is very busy outside of this hotel. However, we couldn't hear a bit of it inside our room. If you are expecting a roomy, modern American hotel, you'll be disappointed. However, for an Italian hotel, it was very nice. The space was adequate, despite being a bit... More

Very nice, small hotel in a great location. On a small canal that had plenty of gondolas. Close to everything. Very helpful staff. Comfortable room. Small lift which was great as we had heavy luggage.

This was our second stay at this charming small hotel and we upgraded to a room with a canal view. It's a very small canal but packed with gondolas serenading us. The hotel is very clean and has a nice, albeit small, breakfast room. It is in a perfect location near St. Mark's. We walk around the corner for cocktails... More

Stayed 4 nights at Violino d'Oro. We had a room in the annex building as that's all our budget could stretch to, however were not disappointed. Room was a little on the small side and being in the annex had no view of the water however it was clean and well maintained and as we really only used it for... More

Stayed here for 2 nights in June, this is our third visit to this hotel. The location is perfect if you want to be near St Marks Square, literally round the corner! Great to have tea and coffee facilities, we had to ask for extra coffee but this was no problem. Also very welcoming was a bottle of Prosecco on... More

Researched this Hotel on Facebook and TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. It was easily found from the San Marco Aliliguna ferry stop, just two small bridges and a two minute walk. The location adjacent to a small canal and a minutes walk from San Marks square is excellent. The chilled bottle of Proseco in our room a nice touch.... More

Stayed here post cruise for two nights. This Hotel has the ideal location 2 minutes walk from San Marc's square and on a small canal off the Gran Canal and you can be dropped off directly in front of the hotel by private water taxi (€120! But worth it, especially if you have a flight to catch and you don't... More

The staff here are AMAZING! Every one of them was so friendly and did everything in their power to accommodate us. We stayed here twice during our visit! Once before we got on our cruise ship, and once when we got off. There is a gondola stop right beside the hotel so it was really fun to watch and listen... More

If you are going to Venice, then you MUST stay here! It has the classic Venetian style to the rooms and hotel. It's a smaller hotel, but you will be exploring Venice so it won't matter too much. We had a corner canal and bridge facing room, which I can only describe as surreal. I awoke one morning to the... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
