If you are looking for a clean budget accommodation in Venice, this motel will serve you well. The rooms are small, but impressively clean, even under the bed. I've been in four star motels that aren't this clean. We actually booked the Alloggi Cerotto Calderan. The two properties are associated and next to each other. If you book there you... More

As backpacking students, we don't usually really expect much from most of the places we stay, but this hotel was great! Very helpful staff, clean rooms, and an awesome view out the window! We stayed in a 4 bed private room with a bathroom. The location of the hotel was so convenient to everywhere we needed to go. The only... More

Location is very convenient. Few minutes walk from train station, with water taxi stations also easily accessible from train station. Lady at reception friendly and helpful. Room is very basic and remember to ask for Aircon remote upon arrival. We had to pay 20 Euro deposit, but upon leaving was promptly repaid to us.The piazza in front of Hotel can... More

We chose to stay here for one night when we arrived in Venice. We were arriving late at night and wanted to have somewhere close to get to before checking into an apartment we had rented for our remaining time. When we arrived our check in was nice and easy. The instructions they gave us to get to the hotel... More

Lovely hotel, exceptionally clean and modern rooms, nicely decorated. Really convenient location, 5 minute walk from Santa Lucia Station and Piazzale Roma. Staff are helpful and speak fluent English. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, we would definitely recommend this hotel and would consider staying again if we return to Venice

We chose this hostel due to the proximity to the main station. Our train was arriving late at night and we did not want to trek through the many Venice streets trying to find our hotel. This place was easy to find and ended up being in a great location. As its a budget hotel (hostel) there's nothing really special... More

When we entered the room, one of the bedside lights did not work, the safety deposit box was not working and the sink was blocked so that when we first used it on entering the room it immediately filled up with water. After announcing this to the man at reception we were accused of having done it ourselves. We were... More

Very close to the train station and with a private bathroom and great wifi couldn't really fault it. Only downside was that having a shower was really hard due to the lack of control over hot and cold water. Plus as we were overlooking the street the noise levels got a bit on the annoying side late at night when... More

Stayed here for three nights at the end of August. At 90euros per night for a private triple room, it was very cheap considering the great location - a five minute walk from the station and very easy to find, as well as close to a boat station. Shower was a little weak and during our stay we only found... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
