Stayed in a private double room with bathroom. Clean room although the decor seems old. It was facing the piazza. =) There're towels, soap, hot water. No breakfast but they give u a discount voucher to use at the restaurant downstairs. Location was great, just minutes away from Santa Lucia train station and bus terminal. Staff was very helpful with... More

We have stayed in this hotel in September 2015 as a couple, it was quite comfortable, the bathroom was separate but it was only for our use and it was clean. The location is great, very close to Santa Lucia main train station and Piazza Roma where main bus stops are. At the reception the staff is friendly. For breakfast... More

we had a layover in Venice for 19 hours. Went to Venice without any reservations. After dinner and a late night walk decided not to go back to the airport. Came across the hotel. Good for the spur of the moment-overnight layover. They also had a 50% off breakfast coupon for next door. Great view outside the fron window of... More

Woke in the middle of the night to find 40+ bugs within the bed. It appeared as though they were coming from cracks within the bed head. After a sleepless night we complained to hotel staff who denied it was their issue stating that we must have brought the bug in. HELLO! They were coming from the bed head! After... More

Our first night we got awoken at 2am by a fire alarm and upon returning to our room from the false alarm we saw a bed bug. We went through all the bedding and surroundings and found a further twenty . Utterly disgusting. Upon complaining to the staff we were told that maybe we brought them - ridiculous as the... More

Venice, undoubtedly, is an expensive city. So keeping in mind that all the places around you charge 150Euros up, this place is quite good value for money. It is located right by the transition and hence in the middle of venice. Lots of really nice restaurants nearby and San Marko is also really only a 20 minutes walk away (unless... More

To the interrailing group, so often plagued by long walks and sore shoulders, the HSG was a welcome respite, only a 5 minute walk from Venezia Santa Lucia. Rooms were small, but had clean bathrooms and decent beds. It was also nice to have the rooms tidied and turned down every day. The faults were minor, but many. Wi-Fi was... More

Even though this is a hotel, if you want to be in the city it is well worth paying the money instead of trying to suffer through the awful hostels in Venice. It was clean, quiet, safe, and close to the train station and everything else.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
