My fiance and I stayed here last summer in the Annex hotel which is detached from the main hotel. It felt like we were in our own apartment with the separate entrance and really liked the peace and quiet it offered. We had a double room with murphy bed that folded out from the wall. It was nice to have... More

From the train station, walk 25 steps down to the Canale Grande, get on the Vaporreto, and cruise entire length of the canal, get off at Piazza san Marco, walk across the piazza, and a few steps past the clock you are at Hotel ai do Mori in the center of everything. We stayed in their smallest room located on... More

Absolutely one of my favorites now. We had room 6 on the fourth floor, with beamed ceilings, windows on two sides, a private bath; small but clean and comfortable. Just around the corner from St. Mark's Square and the Grand Canal. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Stairs are steep, no lift. We are in our 60s and it wasn't a... More

This would have to be one of the best locations in Venice just around the corner literally from St.Marks square. Staff friendly and helpful. As a senior person I found the stairs a challenge and to get better wifi had to go up another storey to my daughter's room. When checking out owner told me that there were easier rooms to... More

Our room was clean and comfortable and staff were kind enough to assist with our suitcases up the stairs. Staff were also welcoming and friendly :) It's in a great location and the views from the rooms are fantastic! We were in room 6, which had a lovely view of the bell tower and the tops of the basilica.

I felt that the hotel was a bargain. The people who run the hotel are very professional. I had a nice and clean little room with no breakfast, and the wifi in my third floor room was spotty at best. Having said all that, the location is fantastic and the directions to the hotel are impeccable. Venice is one of... More

Very reasonably priced (even during Carnivale), and the staff were very helpful, even supplying wellies, which we needed after the rain to walk through the flooded San Marco. Clean, simply furnished room, nice bathroom and hot shower, quiet apart from the bells (but hey, it is Italy). No breakfast included but good bar for coffee and brioches opposite hotel. No... More

Clean, plain room right near the plaza. We couldn't have had a better hotel location at such a reasonable price. We were in the Annex of the hotel. Friendly staff with good restaurant suggestions. Very quiet for such a busy area of the city.

Gave this a 5 rating due to the wonderful location-a 2 minute walk from St. Mark's Square and the reasonable price in expensive Venice. Our room was 403 in the annex near the main building. We had three keys to enter our room-one for the outside, one for the hall, and one for the room. This was advertised as the... More

We've stayed 5 nights at Hotel ai do Mori and we loved. It has an excellent location (less than 5 minutes walking from San Marco) and is very quiet at night. The room was very nice, functional and very clean.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
