Firstly the good things, the hotel has a very 'Italian feel' and the location is great as it is close to the main Square and Rialto areas. Also the breakfast is excellent ad the ladies serving it are very friendly and attentive. The hotel is very clean though Now the bad, for such an expensive hotel ,you can find and... More

Nothing to write home about but a very good and satisfactory standard in generally high priced Venice. Staff above standard, I would say. The location is the triumph. And I really don't like Trip Adviser to force me into longer description than I would like to give.

Loved the stay in this hotel. Some of the fantastic features include wifi that works through the entire hotel, very friendly and capable staff, extremely clean and pro active service staff, right on the canal and you can turn a channel on your TV so you can view the gondolas going past your room, old style hotel room with lovely... We stayed four nights. After initially being surprised how small the room was it soon became obvious it did not matter. After all we were in the heart of Venice in a very old hotel. We requested a room on the lower floor ( two )as there is no lift. We had a small balcony which overlooked a canal and... More

The hotel is small and cozy. Located next to a narrow canal but filled with Gondolas all the time. Breakfast was excellent and the staff very attentive. We were also lucky to get a room in the third floor with great views.

Booked for April 2015 following B-i-L staying last year. A fine location in San Marco on direct route from St Mark's Square to Rialto. Easy to get alilaguna ferry from Marco Polo airport. Good price for centre of Venice from hotel's own website with 10% discount on line booking. Booked room with canal view & looked down on regular flow... More

Accommodation in Venice does range widely in terms of price and so you should be sure of two things before going there for the first time : What do you want to see/do and what is your budget? This hotel is literally 2 minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge vaporetto stops for both the ACTV local line and the Alilaguna... More

The hotel is right next to a canal and we had got a room on the top most floor. Though not very fancy or spacious the room was clean. The staff was friendly and helped us carry our luggage to the third floor. We stayed here primarily for the location and could walk down to St. Marks Square anytime we... More

Super little hotel, half way betwwen The Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square - so right in the middle of the heart of Venice. We were on the third floor rm 307, which was fine for us in our 60s, but could be a problem for those not too fit (but then that's true of the rest of Venice too... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
