We enjoyed our stay here and found the staff helpful. The wifi is spotty, but everything else was great. The stairs are a bit of a chore but the location makes up for any "shortcomings". Our goal was to stay at an older European hotel and this fit the bill nicely.

Location is very convenient, good services and very friendly staff who helped us with all our needs. We felt spoiled when the staff offered a bottle of spumante for my girlfriend's birthday, very nice of them! Room size was comfortable, clean and big enough, furnished in a beautiful vintage style. Not a cheap accommodation, but in line with the prices... More

Booked based on Trip Advisor reviews but honestly it was hopeless. First, the stairs, stairs, stairs. Steep and narrow. Carrying bags up is hard work. Reception is on leave one. If you are on level 4 - good luck!! Second, the room stunk. My wife used half her perfume and we left the windows and AC on to try to... More

we are sorry to hear that your stay with us was negative and sure to improve, his judgment will be useful for this. On the stairs we can not do much because our hotel is built on a building of 700 but we have a porter service from 08:00 a.m. to 20:00 p.m. and your bags are taken from us... More

We booked this hotel in Venice after reading other reviews. While the location is great (just a short walk from the Rialto Bridge vaporetto stop and San Marco) and the staff was friendly and helpful (fluent in English, even printed our boarding passes!), the facility itself was a disappointment. There is no elevator and the stairs are steep! We were... More

Thanks for the nice words about our hotel expenses on location, staff and our breakfast. As for the iron will not provide to our customers for a security reason, we recommend our customers the laundry that it is only 5 miunuti walk. Thanking you for choosing our hotel we hope to have you again as our hotels are sure to... More

Firstly the good things, the hotel has a very 'Italian feel' and the location is great as it is close to the main Square and Rialto areas. Also the breakfast is excellent ad the ladies serving it are very friendly and attentive. The hotel is very clean though Now the bad, for such an expensive hotel ,you can find and... More

ollowing its review we want to dwell on a few points: the hotel is equipped with air conditioning and wifi in all areas and in all rooms and works well as we are ready to intervene immediately in case of failure. As for the staff at the receptionist sorry that it has judged disorganized but I can guarantee the reliability,... More

Nothing to write home about but a very good and satisfactory standard in generally high priced Venice. Staff above standard, I would say. The location is the triumph. And I really don't like Trip Adviser to force me into longer description than I would like to give.

Loved the stay in this hotel. Some of the fantastic features include wifi that works through the entire hotel, very friendly and capable staff, extremely clean and pro active service staff, right on the canal and you can turn a channel on your TV so you can view the gondolas going past your room, old style hotel room with lovely... We stayed four nights. After initially being surprised how small the room was it soon became obvious it did not matter. After all we were in the heart of Venice in a very old hotel. We requested a room on the lower floor ( two )as there is no lift. We had a small balcony which overlooked a canal and... More

The hotel is small and cozy. Located next to a narrow canal but filled with Gondolas all the time. Breakfast was excellent and the staff very attentive. We were also lucky to get a room in the third floor with great views.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
