Atmospheric building in a great location near Rialto. Friendly staff and clean hotel. A homey feeling as this hotel has only NINE rooms, with a great living room dated back to 1600 and overlooking Canal Grande, The Fish Market and a glimpse of Rialto. Only disadvantage was the very simple Breakfast. But the location offers many alternatives.

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the rooms with a canal view. Staff were helpful when we arrived, room was clean, and spacious and well equipped with usual facilities such as tea/coffee and hairdryer. The view from window was best part for us. Breakfast was ample, again with helpful staff who make coffee indidually. Will stay there again... More

Try the rooms with a view of the Canal -- definitely worth it. The service was superb. It is close to everything, yet away from the crazy crowds at St. Marks. The shared living room is lovely and it has a good collection of Venice books.

Perfect location in cannaregio, close to the vaporetto station ca d'oro. In walking distance to rialto and San Mario, but also close to places with less tourists and more venetiens. That time i had one of the rooms overlooking the Gran Canal, which was really big for venetiens room, but also the smaller rooms not overlooking the canal are lovely.... More

Difficult to locate but very nice place. I had a room where you could see the grand canal and the room was large. Staff was very helpful and breakfast was great. Elevator up is small. Near a water bus stop, so that is very convenient.

I enjoy this hotel as it's very authentic. The rooms are small and a little dowdy but the place is clean, has great bones (palazzo on Canal) and the staff is helpful. The breakfast is nice but not extravagant. The value for price paid is terrific.

My wife and I stayed for two wonderful nights. The hotel in walking distance to most things and the Vapareto (water bus) stop is quite near. Breakfast was great and the staff could not have been nicer. Elevator is small but does the job.

I am a senior adult experienced world traveler, picky but not overly so, who does much research before choosing a lodging and so am rarely disappointed. LOCATION: RIGHT ON & OVERLOOKING THE GRAND CANAL - JUST PAST THE TOURIST MADHOUSE/BATTLE ZONE west of the Rialto bridge on the Strada Nova, on the way to the railway station. a do-able walk... More

Stayed here for 3 nights. Excellent location. Directions on the website to get there are very helpful and accurate. Very friendly welcome. Smallish but adequate room ( it is Venice and the roomwas exactly as advertised) fridge and airconditioning both needed and worked well. Nice water pressure in bathroom. Wifi worked well for us in the room. There is a... More

Our water taxi took us right to the Grand Canal entry dock (the whole process of arriving at the train station, getting help with luggage and acquiring a water taxi was "unique" and quite costly - but with many heavy pieces of luggage, the assistance, and the water taxi were well warranted). Our room didn't face the Canal, but other... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
