Hotel well located: 15 min from the train station and 10 min from San marco place. Warm welcome from the people there. Place is old but its venise! It was really clean, quiet and comfy. Breakfast was ok. View on the grand canal from the shared living room is incredible. Only one thing, if you are not a fan of... More

Small Hotel (10 rooms). Reception on 3rd floor, security good with locked gate after hours. Very friendly and helpful staff. Easy access from S Lucia railway station (No. 1 Water Bus to Ca' D' Oro then short walk) On day of arrival may be a problem with late arrival as reception closes at 8:30 PM. Residential only, no bar and... More

Small hotel at the top of an old Venetian palace on the Grand Canal. The rooms are clean, bright and spacious. The staff is very helpful and seems to be able to speak all languages. We keep returning to this hotel again and again when we visit Venice.

Well located to restaurants, station, Rialto Bridge and shops. Easy access from canal station. Room comfortable. Staff helpful. View is from common lounge and two front rooms. It is spectacular. Love Venice

We booked a canal view room, and it did not disappoint! The room was huge and the view was spectacular - it is up high enough so that you can see the entire skyline and part of the Rialto. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was pretty good. The fridge and air conditioning worked well. The price was pretty reasonable considering... More

Atmospheric building in a great location near Rialto. Friendly staff and clean hotel. A homey feeling as this hotel has only NINE rooms, with a great living room dated back to 1600 and overlooking Canal Grande, The Fish Market and a glimpse of Rialto. Only disadvantage was the very simple Breakfast. But the location offers many alternatives.

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the rooms with a canal view. Staff were helpful when we arrived, room was clean, and spacious and well equipped with usual facilities such as tea/coffee and hairdryer. The view from window was best part for us. Breakfast was ample, again with helpful staff who make coffee indidually. Will stay there again... More

Try the rooms with a view of the Canal -- definitely worth it. The service was superb. It is close to everything, yet away from the crazy crowds at St. Marks. The shared living room is lovely and it has a good collection of Venice books.

Perfect location in cannaregio, close to the vaporetto station ca d'oro. In walking distance to rialto and San Mario, but also close to places with less tourists and more venetiens. That time i had one of the rooms overlooking the Gran Canal, which was really big for venetiens room, but also the smaller rooms not overlooking the canal are lovely.... More

Difficult to locate but very nice place. I had a room where you could see the grand canal and the room was large. Staff was very helpful and breakfast was great. Elevator up is small. Near a water bus stop, so that is very convenient.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
