This is a lovely bed and breakfast on the top floor of the historic Palazzo Michiel right on the Grand Canal in the center of the Cannaregio district. Entering the property from the bustling Strada Nuovo, you step into the 17th century to see a ground floor boat landing on the Grand Canal with the original decorative cistern. Marble steps... More

This small hotel is located close to the Rialto Bridge, Room was comfortable, clean, bed was perfect. We also took advantage of spending time in the common sitting area which has great views over the Grand Canal. Breakfast is simple and very good, excellent cappuccino's. You can walk to almost anywhere on the island in 15 minutes or less. Lots... More

Though disappointed not to have a room with Grand Canal views, our room was clean and comfortable and all the neccessaries were well provided for. The location, close to the Rialto, is convenient for almost everything in central Venice and the vaporetti stop is close at hand. The staff are friendly and helpful, e.g. a kettle being provided on request... More

Located at a walking distance from the ferry stop it was a picturesque walk through the bylanes of Venice amidst friendly Venetians and restaurants on the sides of the lane welcoming with wine glasses and sumptuous menu. This is right on the happening street and yet has its own quintessential charm of bricks, stairs, statues and an eversmiling reception, old world charm and... More

We had a wonderful view of the Grand Canal with a small terrace just outside the door of our room. The location was ideal for us as we prefer not to be in the middle of a busy tourist area. There was plenty of shopping and dining nearby but it wasn't as congested as other areas of Venice. We requested... More

Arrived by water taxi from train station. Driver called and staff were on hand on our arrival to help with our bags. B&B located on 4th floor of Palazzo Micheil overlooking the Grand Canal and the city markets. Have 3 persons lift located near main entrance. Can catch a glimpse of Rialto Bridge from Balcony. Clean, quiet accommodations located near... More

We were a little apprehensive when we arrived at Locanda ai Santi Apostoli and saw the sign out front that said "Highway to Hell", but were relieved to learn that was the name of an art exhibit on the 1st floor. The B&B is on the top floor which is a good hike up the stairs if you are not... More

Following the email info from the hotel, we located it easily, but the walking path included multiple small bridges. We were charmed by the building and the beautiful courtyard with the water landings. The room was large and everything was spotless, albeit "old". Comfortable bed and bedding allowed for a good rest and a delicious breakfast included fresh cappuccino or... More

Stayed here in room 3 for 3 nights. The room was of a good size and immaculately clean. Breakfast was hot drinks, ham & cheese and rolls, plus yoghurts and croissants. Rolls were very disappointing. Soft processed stuff. Staff were friendly. HOWEVER it states that there is a bar/cafeteria and prossecco bar. This was un tur. There was none of... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
