This hotel was lovely. Location was perfect - next to Rialto bridge, short walk to St Marks square. There are several bars close to the hotel (both sides of the Rialto bridge) which gives a pleasant atmosphere, and a short stumble back to the hotel. Staff were friendly, particularly the breakfast waitress and the bald man on reception. Room was... More

We stayed here for a week while exploring Venice. This place is in a great location. Very close to Rialto and San Marco. And as it is very easy to get lost in Venice, the big monument close to the hotel is a very nice landmark. The hotel is very small, with no elevator, so we lugged our stuffs and... More

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, it is a little out of the way but that suited us fine. The room was a little small but had everything we needed and aircon. Breakfast was limited choice but included so we indulged. And the hotel coffee was delicious. The staff were very helpful and there's a great restaurant just beneath... More

This was our last stop on our travelling holiday. The hotel itself was very very dated, inside and out! The room was clean (ish!) very very small too! Two single beds pushes together and very uncomfortable beds too! No fridge or water in the room for you either. Just a nice added extra that we like! We where staying on... More

Initially the hotel can be hard to find when you're carrying your luggage from your water taxi, but it's not very far from Rialto Bridge at all - less than 5 min walk. The hotel is very clean and quiet, the air con is a god send after a hot day walking miles! The bed was a little hard for... More

A good value for the price. Not a luxury hotel, but clean, quiet and comfortable. Good breakfast with exceptionally good cappuccino. Nice location. Easier to find than you think, and a 10-minute walk to St. Marks.

This hotel is in a great location near Rialto and offers good pricing! Breakfast was adequate to get you going in the morning and they offered many varieties of coffee. Our room was clean. Keep in mind that it is 2 star, so furnishings have seen wear and the pillows are not soft. But the bathroom was nicely renovated and... More

Firstly I think worth pointing out that we booked this through Anoma.com. Best advice, DON'T!! I made a mistake and booked a double bed instead of two singles - as I was going with my daughter it had to be changed. Anoma didn't want to help and even 'lied' like hairy eggs claiming to have contacted the hotel on my... More

The hotel is a good value, remember it's 2 STAR. You are 2 minutes from the Rialto Bridge and Grand Canal, water transportation and Gondola's. 5 minutes from St.Saint Mark's Basilica, very close to the open market area, shops, a super market and restaurants. We found the hotel to be good base to explore Venice. The hotel has 4 floors,... More

Very well placed - near Rialto bridge. A little bit noisy - you can hear what's happend in the other rooms. Large room and large bathroom. Not very difficult to find. Don't expect at spectaculat views from the windows. Good enaught breakfast but no eggs or enything else cooked

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
