The location of this hotel is prime, just a short stroll to everywhere you want to be in Venice and that is why you go to Venice [not to hang out in your hotel room or the hotel lobby]. A very convenient walking location to/from the vaporetto to/from the train station [if you take line 1, line 2 drops you... More

We stayed here as a family of 4 for 1 night in July. We arrived from the other side of Venice where we had stayed 2 nights previous we arrived here by vaporetto which was fabulously close to the hotel as is St Mark Square and Harry Pickerings Bar along with fabulous designer boutiques. Upon arrival you are greeted with... More

I am basing my review on the fact that we got a bit of a bargain with the room rate for our stay. Like others have said, the location is spectacular for the main sights and extremely convenient for the vaporetto. The room we had was basic but spotlessly clean - I think the sheets were changed every other day... More

Traveled in July to this old, rundown, small hotel ,very old furniture and bed, quite large room, LOCATION!! the best ! very close to piazza san marco and the city center ,very good value for money. bed sheets were old ,we could not replace them because the cleaning personal left in the afternoon and we found the dirt in the evening,... Stayed here just for one night at the end of a cruise. It's a perfect location in the middle of San Marco. We arrived early but they allowed us to leave luggage and go out to explore. The older man at check in was a bit grumpy but Lucas was a lovely young man who helped take the luggage upstairs... More

We visited Venice in 2014 and a big part of the enjoyment of this great city was our stay at Hotel Casanova on San Marco. The location is convenient to both city and beaches and the villa type rooms has an old world charm with all modern conveniences. This made our 4 day stay in Venice more than a vacation.... More

Venice is small and everything can be done by foot, but this hotel is basically in the heart of San Marco square just a few steps from it. The hotel was not the nicest though. The room was big but floor felt dirty, bathroom was tiny, and hotel staff were nice. WiFi only works down in their lobby which isn't... More

The hotel is centrally located, it was a 2 minute walk from the water taxi stand for me. It is located right next to Piazza San Marco square. The rooms are comfortable with comfortable toilets. The hotel promises free wifi but it does not work in the rooms. It is only limited to the reception area and in enquiring why... More

I don't understand people who want to pay for economy seat, but expect a business class 180 degree reclining one for the same price. This Hotel happens to be a decent property that is priced moderately and is in a location that is simply amazing. The place is 100 mts from the Vaporetto station, 50 mts from St Marks Square,... This hotel was a ridiculous amount of money for a crap hotel. They made the reservation out to have us think it was $170 per night and then charged us $340 per night. The beds were terrible and the pillows were bricks. Would not recommend this to anyone.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
