We had booked a standard room for a two night post cruise stay. The room was not ready for us when we arrived so we left our luggage and went to look around Venice. Our room was on the first floor next to the breakfast room and I had seen some comments about the noise from that area in the... More

We had a lovely time in Venice and the hotel certainly did not let us down. Surprising easy to find (if you have a good map). The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was beautiful, clean and tidy with everything we needed. Our view wasn't that great but hey, how much time do you spend in the room looking... More

Just got back from visiting Venice with a friend, the hotel is very clean, staff are all very friendly, the hotel is small but typical Venetian style, it's located just 10 mins walk away from the Rialto Bridge. Easy to find. Our room was located on the first floor, which was good as there is no lift. The only negative... More

Very good hotel, we got the bus and then the water boat from the airport. got off at the rialto bridge head straight down the walk way and you come to a square there is a bank and a shop with a second walk way inbetween and the hotel is down there on the right. the reasons for the directions... Great little hotel, great location, however even after emailing the hotel in advance to confirm our double bed we had two single beds pushed together. Basically a canal in our double bed, we did mention this to the hotel however they had nothing else to say about it and just said they are fully booked. This made it less of... More

This hotel is conveniently situated not far from the Rialto vaporetto stop. The staff were very helpful and thoughtful and helped to make the stay very pleasant and relaxed. The room was large and decorated in keeping with the age of the building, but the en-suite was well modern and well appointed. Breakfast was typical holiday buffet selection. Free Wi-Fi... More

We stay in this Hotel Centauro in November 2014. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Near San Marco square an bateau stop (Rialto) where is the most beautiful bridge in Venice. Hight standart and quality of rooms for 3-star hotel. Breakfast varied with local products sweet and savory. Saluti da Taormina

Location is one of the most important aspects of booking a hotel, that being said, hotel Centauro has an excellent location! It is very close to San Marco's square and the Rialto Bridge, making the maze-like streets of Venice a little easier to manage. The hotel itself is very charming and the decor is quaint. The complimentary breakfast is very... More

6 nights recently at this fine small hotel. Had room #10 on the second floor (two flights of stairs, no elevator, for anyone with walking issues). Not much of a view from this room, but that didn't matter, as the views in Venice overall are spectacular. Others in our group of mature ladies were on the third floor. My room... More

My partner and I have just arrived home after a 3 night stay here. The room was beautiful (21) with a canal view and amazing Venetian decor. The breakfast was lovely, and included in the price. I thought the location was great. Just a few minutes walk from some of the major attractions. The staff are all really nice and... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
