Hotel was comfortable and clean. It's in a good location -quiet and they give you good directions on how to get there on the website. That's very handy and we used their map most of the time. Breakfast was buffet style and a good selection. Our room was on the first floor with a window onto an alley. It meant... More

This hotel is very close to the Rialto bridge and also around 5-8minutes walk to Saint Marks square. Our room was surprisingly spacious with really nice decor. We also overlooked the canal at the side of the hotel which was great for watching the gondolas go by. The only downside was the beds-really really uncomfortable. The hotel needs to buy... More

This hotel is a mere 3-5 minutes walk from the Rialto waterbus stop and the Rialto bridge. This hotel has a lot of character. The rooms have an old royal charm to them. You feel like you are in a room in a palace. The old charm does not mean that there is a lack of modern amenties and services:... More

This hotel is centrally located on Venice (the island). I had a superior single room on the second floor. When I expressed surprise that there was no lift the woman on the desk airily brushed off my comment saying I should have read the information when I booked. Please note, Hotel Centauro that some people still use travel agents even... More

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in May. Great place, excellent location. It is an old building as all of the other building in Venice. Good sized room, very small shower by american standards, but worked great for us. The hotel was very easy to find just by following hotel instructions.Excellent breakfast in the morning and very friendly and helpful... More

Musty tiny single bed itchy sheets and very very old! Loud between floors so don't plan on sleeping, The only positive was the coffee machine and location. The wifi was a challenge to get on but that was ok because it's Europe.

We had booked a standard room for a two night post cruise stay. The room was not ready for us when we arrived so we left our luggage and went to look around Venice. Our room was on the first floor next to the breakfast room and I had seen some comments about the noise from that area in the... More

We had a lovely time in Venice and the hotel certainly did not let us down. Surprising easy to find (if you have a good map). The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was beautiful, clean and tidy with everything we needed. Our view wasn't that great but hey, how much time do you spend in the room looking... More

Just got back from visiting Venice with a friend, the hotel is very clean, staff are all very friendly, the hotel is small but typical Venetian style, it's located just 10 mins walk away from the Rialto Bridge. Easy to find. Our room was located on the first floor, which was good as there is no lift. The only negative... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
