Great location once you find it. As you leave Rialto water bus station turn right. Keep water on your right. Walk until you can go no further. Turn left down passage (Cavalli). Next is small square walk across down another small passage. It will open up to larger square with statue of man and winged lion. Hotel is down small... More

This hotel was very central in the heart of Venice, a five minute walk from Saint Mark's Square. The location is its best quality in my opinion. Hotel staff was very warm at check in, much less so at check out. Kind of hard to find the hotel at first but once you stay for a day you'll know your... More

Even though this hotel is in a great central location, it is very hard to find upon arrival to Venice. We were in Venice during an extremely warm period and the AC was not as cool as we like, but OK. Nice European style breakfast is included with room and front desk staff are polite and helpful. Only real negative... More

I booked a single room with a bathroom. I wanted a hotel right in the centre of Venice near the Rialto and that is what I got. The room was under the eaves and 3 floors up without a lift. The building is classic venetian in style an decor. Though small, my room was scrupulously clean and had all the... More

The Hotel is a small hotel which is a bit near to tourist spots like Piazza San marco. Unfortunately, my room was on the second floor and there is no elevator. Good i just brought a hand carry luggage. Though you will reach Piazza San marco around 10 minutes walk. The hotel is surrounded with restaurants and shops while walking... More

This hotel has a great location in Venice. Very affordable for where it is. Its very cute and historic. The AC works well in the room, the breakfast was average, the wifi worked well. While the room was on the smaller size it didnt really matter to us since we were in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe... More

Stayed at this small, nice city hotel in San Marco for four nights. The room was decorated in Venetian style and had a small but functional bathroom. A quite simple but adequate breakfast was served in the breakfast room. The staff was friendly and tried their best, although everyone didn't speak English very well. However we hadn't any difficulties understanding... More

This hotel is very close to the main tourist places. Come in on the vaportto from the SLtrain station and get off at Rialoto. It's an easy walk up Cavalli to Campo Manin. Stand in the square and look across and you will see a little alley in the middle . This is your lane. Our room only had a... More

The hotel was a real gem, only 5 mins walk from the Rialto Bridge and a leisurely 10-15 mins stroll away from the San Marco square, it is a fantastic base to visit most of Venice sights even on foot. I love my room so much, although only with a limited view of an alley, it was really cozy and... More

This is hotel is only a 2 minute walk from the Rialto water bus stop. It is located in a square with statues in the centre and is down a narrow alley way off that. It has a very traditional feel and is quirky. Staff very pleasant, we were lucky to get a superior room with the added bonus of... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
