Great little hotel, great location, however even after emailing the hotel in advance to confirm our double bed we had two single beds pushed together. Basically a canal in our double bed, we did mention this to the hotel however they had nothing else to say about it and just said they are fully booked. This made it less of... More

This hotel is conveniently situated not far from the Rialto vaporetto stop. The staff were very helpful and thoughtful and helped to make the stay very pleasant and relaxed. The room was large and decorated in keeping with the age of the building, but the en-suite was well modern and well appointed. Breakfast was typical holiday buffet selection. Free Wi-Fi... More

We stay in this Hotel Centauro in November 2014. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Near San Marco square an bateau stop (Rialto) where is the most beautiful bridge in Venice. Hight standart and quality of rooms for 3-star hotel. Breakfast varied with local products sweet and savory. Saluti da Taormina

Location is one of the most important aspects of booking a hotel, that being said, hotel Centauro has an excellent location! It is very close to San Marco's square and the Rialto Bridge, making the maze-like streets of Venice a little easier to manage. The hotel itself is very charming and the decor is quaint. The complimentary breakfast is very... More

6 nights recently at this fine small hotel. Had room #10 on the second floor (two flights of stairs, no elevator, for anyone with walking issues). Not much of a view from this room, but that didn't matter, as the views in Venice overall are spectacular. Others in our group of mature ladies were on the third floor. My room... More

My partner and I have just arrived home after a 3 night stay here. The room was beautiful (21) with a canal view and amazing Venetian decor. The breakfast was lovely, and included in the price. I thought the location was great. Just a few minutes walk from some of the major attractions. The staff are all really nice and... More

We got this hotel on the day of our arrival because of problems we had with the preivous one and I was actually happy it happened! Even though we passed by the little alley where the hotel is located (GPS does not like Venice), it probably just added a minute or 2 from our 2 min walk from the Rialto... More

We stayed for New Year´s eve, for 3 nights. The room was really stylist, clean and comfy, as well as the bathroom. The front desk man was really polite with us and very helpful, we had a problem with other company and he helped us in everything that we needed. the location was really good, 5 streets from San Marco.... 1 min 45 seconds walking with bags from the Alilaguna stop at Rialto (ferry from the Airport). Perfect after two flights. Once in Monin Sq look for the bank on the left when facing the canal. The hotel is down a narrow alleyway on the left before the bank. There is a tiny sign on the wall about 9ft up... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
