Got here by boat from the airport, was quite easy to find from the Rialto bridge station thanks to another trip advisor post. Got upgraded to a canal view room, but it was on the third floor, with no lift. don't ask how we got 20+ kilo bags up, but we did with the help of other people staying there.... More

Hotel has probably the best location possible. Situated in the middle of San Marco it is easily accessible by vaporetto, very handy with luggage. Also Piazza San Marco, Accademia and Rialto are in a walking distance. Hotel is located in a small alley and you can here gondoliers singing in the canal behind it. Hotel is small and venetian style... More

This hotel is perfectly located as it is no more than 10 minutes from all of the major sights of Venice. Our room was typically Venetian and had a terrace with views of the surrounding rooftops. It is clean and the continental breakfast is excellent- the mini-bar, although we didn't use it, was incredibly good value, with water and soft... More

As a hotel, this place was slightly worse than basic but most hotels in Venice are like this. It is just off the Rialto stop on the waterbus so is fairly central to everything you need to see in Venice. The staff were friendly but the place is in need of repair. That said, if you are coming for the... More

Centauro Hotel was very nice little hotel. There is no elevator in the hotel so for those with mobility problems it maybe a challenge. As mentioned by others it is a bit hard to find if you don't know where you're going. We took a water taxi after arriving at the airport and were dropped off on the far side... More

Great location once you find it. As you leave Rialto water bus station turn right. Keep water on your right. Walk until you can go no further. Turn left down passage (Cavalli). Next is small square walk across down another small passage. It will open up to larger square with statue of man and winged lion. Hotel is down small... More

This hotel was very central in the heart of Venice, a five minute walk from Saint Mark's Square. The location is its best quality in my opinion. Hotel staff was very warm at check in, much less so at check out. Kind of hard to find the hotel at first but once you stay for a day you'll know your... More

Even though this hotel is in a great central location, it is very hard to find upon arrival to Venice. We were in Venice during an extremely warm period and the AC was not as cool as we like, but OK. Nice European style breakfast is included with room and front desk staff are polite and helpful. Only real negative... More

I booked a single room with a bathroom. I wanted a hotel right in the centre of Venice near the Rialto and that is what I got. The room was under the eaves and 3 floors up without a lift. The building is classic venetian in style an decor. Though small, my room was scrupulously clean and had all the... More

The Hotel is a small hotel which is a bit near to tourist spots like Piazza San marco. Unfortunately, my room was on the second floor and there is no elevator. Good i just brought a hand carry luggage. Though you will reach Piazza San marco around 10 minutes walk. The hotel is surrounded with restaurants and shops while walking... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
