I stayed in February during the Venice Carnival and is not far from the S Toma stop. It was a basic hotel not very big but hot. I know I was on my own but did book a double room for space and glad I did. The bath was not very big - not a normal size bath as I... More

The staff here was very friendly, allowing us to drop off our bags before check in and leave them there after check out so we could explore the city without the burden of suitcases. Breakfast was tasty. In walking distance to just about anywhere. Only reason I knocked it down a notch was because our window and balcony door were... More

The front desk blonde woman was not friendly, room was dirty, sheets and blanket had stains, enough dust to fill a baggy, 2 hairs in the tub. Must leave your key at desk when leaving, must ask for TV changer, must ask for PW for wifi, breakfast was minimal and no tables clean to sit at for breakfast. Rooms were... More

Had low expectations of hotel based on the low price,we had a quad room which was a bit of a tight squeeze, bathroom hilariously small but functional. breakfast was ok, usual continental fayre. plumbing very noisy. However location compensated for any downside, right in the heart of the City. if you just need a bed, breakfast and no frills this... More

The hotel has total of 15 rooms. No elevator which none of the hotels in venice has. Bathrooms are okay. There was no shower cutains in our bathroom. Room has very low slating ceiling. Breakfast is not good. No toaster. Hotel is 15 minutes from the bus stop and 20-24 mins from San Marco.

We arrived at the hotel at 4am with two children. After waking up the male receptionist (who stunk of cigarette smoke) told us that we can leave our suitcases in the foyer "but nothing else". When we asked where we could go until check in (ten hours away) we were told "No where. Nothing is open." and he shut the... More

Ok, so the hotel may not be your typical Marriott Hotel; but we knew it wasn't when we booked. Older, some definite flaws (especially the bathrooms). We knew when we booked inside the city that we were not getting the Marriott. But I have to say, and THIS WAS IMPORTANT TO US -- the staff was incredible. We stayed there... More

I liked the location, it was kind of in the middle of Venice, and an easy walk from the Vaparetto. Good breakfast. Very good wi-fi. Rooms were small, typical for this type of hotel. Walls were a little thin, but luckily our neighbors were quiet.

We stayed here for one night only but wish it could have been for longer. The staff were amazingly helpful, nothing seemed too much trouble. Breakfast was more than adequate and the diningroom was quaint and beautifully decorated. The room was clean however the bathroom was typically small, and we had to get our luggage up 2 narrow flights of... More

Good location and a short walk from the car park if you drive. The hotel is very basic. No wireless where we stayed. The showers have no shower curtains so expect a wet floor specially if you have kids. Towels not changed for the two days, toilettetries not replenished. After paying 350euros asked for 1euro to give an additional map... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
