I stayed with my boyfriend's family for three nights at this hotel. The experience was fantastic because we were really close to san marco square and san zacaria vaporeto stop so we didnt have to walk a lot with our luggage ( remember venice is all about bridges) One of the front desk guys was specially helpful and efficient, Paolo.... This hotel is very close to St. Marks Square off the main street so it is quiet. Our window faced a wall so there was no natural light at all. Room was cramped and despite it being advertised as renovated, it looked very tired to us. Breakfast had a very limited selection especially after a wonderful breakfast we had experienced... More

Location of this hotel was absolutely perfect ! If we got lost we headed for San Marco square and bam you could find the hotel again ! Lovely Italian rooms and great service from staff. If I am lucky enough to return to Venice I would book here.

I am late writing this as my stay was October 2013 but it was such a beautiful quaint hotel i felt i owed them a review. Very comfortable and clean, great location half a block from San Marco water taxi station. It was a small ' fawlty towers' type experience! Desk clerks were very protective and offered advice of where... More

I took my wife to Venice for her 60th birthday and stayed in the Hotel Commercio & Pellegrino. What a perfect location on a street which runs at the back of the Doges Palace, full of shops bars and restaurants. The hotel has 25 rooms and is spotless. The room we stayed in was a good size with tv.a very... More

We stayed in this hotel for two nights and location could not get better. It was close to San Marco which is the main tourist piazza. Friendly staff and clean rooms. Room was very small but it serves the purpose of sleeping. Great breakfast. No complaints at all and had a great stay. Would stay again. Only issue was with... More

This was the best location we could have hoped for to stay during the Venice Carnival. Easy access to the ferries and Piazza San Marco to grab the early morning pics. Great rooms and breakfast for reasonable price during this peak season. Recommended!!

Perfect location. Very close to St. Marks. When we got lost on our walks around Venice we just followed the signs to San Marco. From there two minutes and we were at our hotel. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Wifi worked well in our room, and our friends as well.

Everything was more than we expected. This was the beginning of our pre-cruise dream trip and was the perfect way to start. The rooms were lovely, with adequate space for clothing storage. You can request a double bed or singles. The rooms were spotless and the bathroom was a perfect size. Its a quiet little boutique-y kind of hotel right... More

We booked the hotel expecting a standard room. When we arrived (easy to find), we were welcomed and shown down the small street the hotel is in. At this point, we were very worried having read reviews of people being given poor quality 'satellite' rooms in neighbouring blocks as an overflow from the main hotel. We entered through a tatty... Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
