We are family of four and booked two rooms. Print a map before arriving so you have an idea where it is placed. If taking public transport with water taxi get off at San Zaccharia and walk is about 10 minutes from there. No elevator but porter helped with luggage. Both Stefano and Max very polite and helpful. Rooms were... More

This is our first time staying at this hotel, not difficult to find the hotel. Very spacious room with classic Deco. Good internet connection, nice European breakfast and very friendly staff, they were always helpful, even they offered to bring our bags up to our room, 4th floor and no elevator available. Only downside of it. But not a biggie... More

Hotel Orion has the perfect location. It is very near San Marco Square and the Rialto Bridge. It is a short walk to a few stations to catch the Vaporetto. We stayed in Venice on July 20 and 21, 2015 and it was HOT and HUMID. The rooms were advertised to be AC, but our room was still very hot... More

Had a lovely week long stay here. Found the hotel relatively easily, it's down a little side street with lots of bars and restaurants close by. Staff were all very friendly, room was good and very quiet. Air con didn't work amazingly but we weren't in the room too much for it to bother us. Breakfast was basic but good,... More

Hotel Orion is just a few minutes walk to St. Mark's square, the Rialto Bridge, and water transportation. The rooms are tastefully done, well maintained with wonderful baths. Excellent airconditioning. and Wi-Fi. A very nice breakfast is included in the hotel. Opposite the front entrance is a great 2-Euro gelato counter. When we needed to leave at 5:30 am, service was... Wanting a reasonable hotel for one night in Venice before boarding our cruise ship, we chose the Orion. In a tiny little lane just 2 minutes walk from St Mark's Square, and only a few minutes from the Grand Canal, it was ideal for our needs. Lots of interesting shops and restaurants very close. The rooms were quaint and charming,... More

I can't fault the location of this hotel. It's few minutes walk to St. Marks square. It's also close to water bus stops and main shopping areas. Lots of restaurants, cafes near the hotel. There's a gellateria right outside the hotel. The hotel was hard to find. The only hotel sign is a small sign on top of the hotel... More

Fab and friendly small hotel 2 mins walk from St Mark's and 5 mins from Rialto. Accessible from boat stop. Stunning customer service. Nice and quiet despite busy location with lots of bars and restaurants close by. Brilliant value.

We arrived via train and took the vaporetto to the San Zaccaria stop (just above the Piazza San Marco). From there it was an easy walk, but you have to dodge the crowds. The hotel is peaceful, despite all the pedestrian traffic outside. Our first room was quite small. I could not fit in the shower! The next morning, the... More

We stayed at Orion for two nights and it was absolutely perfect for our trip. The location is fantastic right in the heart of Venice, just a couple of streets away from San Marco's Square and just 5 minutes from Rialto. Plus the little kiosk across from the hotel does the best gelato in Venice. Handy for picking up a... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
