Excellent location. Free wifi. Suite 301 provided all I needed as a single but could have been super for two. (They also offer it in a 3-bed configuration). The staff is nice and professional (except perhaps the man in the breakfast room on May 6th), and I'm saying this even though they made me miss my train upon living because... More

Dear Guest, thank you for your review. We are sorry about the rumors out of the hotel. We are in the center of the city and with Venice Biennale vernissage it's very usual to have people that walk throught the streets or eat until midnight. About the private taxi, it's not our fault we booked it in time but unfortunatly... More

The location is superb, being five minutes from St Mark's Square and one minute from a Grand Canal vaparetto stop. On arrival we were unexpectedly upgraded to a room with a view over the piazza and a glimpse of the Grand Canal. A further nice touch was a complementary bottle of Prosecco wine and a bowl of fruit in the... More

Stayed in the penthouse suite for 4days. Spacious, with separate bedroom and fully equipes. Also the amnemities in the bathroom. Super breakfast, very friendly staff and locationwise perfect to visit Venice. Close to vaporetto, and also to the gondola which crosses the Grand Canal. SAN Marco plazza is 5 minuten walking. The suite also has a terrace with a great... More

This is a very nice small hotel close to the very heart of the Venice. I was surprised how easy it was to get to all the main sites in the islands from here. Water transfer from airport arrived through the Gand Canal which was a breathtaking entry to the city. It was one minute walk to the hotel through... More

We visited Venice for New Year and stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We had a lovely suite on the 3rd floor, not a brilliant view but we could walk round Venice and find plenty of those. It was tastefully furnished in keeping with the surroundings and comfortable. Free wi fi was an added bonus. The room was clean... More

Very nice small hotel, well situated in Venice just a few minutes from San Marco piazza and very convenient to the Vaporetto that brings you directly from the train station. We were traveling with 5 year old, the junior suite was quite spacious and worked out well for us. Breakfasts aren't exactly abundant but sufficient and certainly convenient. We were... More

The location of Palazzo del Giglio is just amazing and in the heart of everything from the vaporetto stop, to St Mark's Square and the best shops in Venice. We booked a junior suite which was ideal and provided plenty of room as a family to stretch out. The staff were excellent and very attentive including the delivery of champagne,... More

Great stay in Palazzo Giglio in december 2014. Small 4 star hotel, with great location (with vaporeto stop and 3 minutes walk from San Marco Sq). Very attentive and pleasant personnel, paying attention to details (We were offered a fruit tray and a champagne bottle). Totally advisable

This four star hotel was chosen by us as we did not want the high prices along the Grand Canal. It was a good choice and the staff were very helpful and very keen to make sure we had a good stay. Our room was not large and we will get a bigger one when we return but everything was... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
