We stayed at this hotel for the second time over New Year, 2016. It is a fabulous, convenient location. Just a couple of minutes, past amazing designer shops, to St Marks Square and really close to the boat stop when you arrive. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful and really look after you. Breakfast is good, not loads of... More

We dropped off our rental car at the Piazzale Roma, took the vaporetto #1, got off at the Giglio stop (right before Accademia) and were within a very short walk through an impressively narrow lane to the hotel without having to carry our luggage across any of the numerous bridges that become less and less attractive the heavier your bags... Stayed here for a couple of days. This place is located right in the middle of all the action. It's close to Realto bridge as well as San Marco square. Locality is a huge advantage in Venice since you need to take the water-taxis (Vaporetto) and it won't be long before you start getting "water-sick". Rooms were big but comfort-wise... More

My husband and I stayed here in early Oct 2015. This hotel is quite close to San Marco Square and many restaurants. If you arrive by train or plane, this hotel is the second to the last stop on the water taxi. This hotel looks to be recently renovated on the first floor and the space was a bit awkward.... More

For what this place charges, I would have expected much nicer rooms and breakfast. I understand that Venetian hotels are often dated and overpriced, but for a four star property, this place really was a disappointment. The staff was lovely--they were very helpful, if not too eager (they ordered a water taxi for us 1/2 hour earlier than we'd asked,... More

Dear Mrs Amanda, our staff are very pleased to hear that you foun d their service very helpful, if not too keen. In terms of the premature ordering of the taxi, it is our recollection that you were made aware that the taxi would arrive within a 10-15 minute period. Indeed, the taxi was ordered when you asked for it... More

Had a great stay at this hotel and staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and quiet but we encountered the smells of venice wafting from our bathroom while we were there which was not great when we were getting ready for bed. Other than that we had no issues. There are great restaurants nearby, but we... More

We are on a very tight budget, planning from our point of origin, we are on a lookout for all budget friendly hotels and accommodations, and here we found Palazzo del Giglio. Surprisingly, the hotel have a 4-star rating while having the cost of a budget hotel...seems ironic isn't it? It's very rare to get a 4-star service for a... More

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in September 2015 after our cruise. It was a very plaisant stay. Hotel is very clean and comfortable and has an elegant venitian charm. Many little attentions that are welcome: fresh fruits in room, complementary bottle of prosecco, free wifi, safe box and elegant multy choice breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful.... More

Staff extremely helpful , excellent customer service, extremely clean and comfortable hotel. Location excellent for st Marco, water bus stops just at the bottom of the alley. Situated on a small square with a bistro and church, lovely to sit and have a drink or two¡

Our experience of this place was sensational from before we even got here. We drove to Venice from Tuscany and as we approached my wife called ahead for directions and advice on getting to the hotel via the vaparetto and they could not have been more helpful and took their time in explaining things to ensure we were ok. Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
