This is our second stay at the Paganelli. We particularly enjoy the quietude of the rooftop deck - a wonderful place to watch the flurry of activity on land and water during the busy times of day (and terrific internet connection!) Several rooms have their own balconies with bistro seating, facing the interior courtyard. The breakfast is good, the cafe/bar... More

We stayed 3 nights here and although there was a party in the street right below us 2 of the 3 nights, we would stay here again. Very comfortable renovated rooms and great location. My only complaint would be the lack of good internet service.

Hotel Paganelli was a cute little boutique hote right outside the waterbus stop, which is the absolute best part of this hotel. By far the smallest room we have ever had in Europe. The bathroom was renovated and really nice. Breakfast was free, and decent. Oddly though, they took our passports for "immigration checks" for 10+ minutes and told us... More

I stayed here in mid June 2015 and when i first booked this place i must say i was worried because the price was to good to be true!! but once i had arrived i noticed the staff approach me immediately and help me with our luggage and had us checked in within 5 mins of walking in!! Lovely little hotel located about 50m from the San Zaccaria water bus/ferry stop (can catch either the ferry or the bus from this stop). We loved the location as it was so simple to find when getting off the water bus from the airport. We saw many people wondering around the centre of Venice dragging their luggage behind them looking... More

The Hotel Paganelli is in a terrific location just round the corner from St Mark’s Square. The hotel is split into 2 sites – the main building on the front and the annex, where breakfast is also served, down the adjoining alley. We stayed in the main building. Our room was small but had everything we needed and a contemporary... More

Cute small hotel, great location for the water taxis and St Marks Square! We walked everywhere! Free breakfast was a wonderful thing to have, nothing amazing about it, but it was very convenient and had a pretty ok variety of options. The elevator in the second building is veeerrrrry slow- best to take the stairs- you'll beat the elevator even... More

My partner and I stayed at Hotel Paganelli for five nights. Overall I believed the hotel was overpriced but I found that was the same with everything else in Venice.. The location of the hotel is very central, with vaporetto stops right out the front. I found the staff to be pleasant enough, without being overly friendly. Everything was within... More

I really enjoyed our stay here. As others have mentioned the location is perfect, central and right by the vaporetto. The rooms are slightly smaller than the average North American room but very well sized compared to other rooms we stayed in throughout Italy. More importantly they're clean, recently got some TLC and the bathrooms have been fully modernized which... More

This small property (14 rooms) is very conveniently located. It is on the waterfront and less than a 10 minute walk from ST. Mark's Square. Many shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Steps from the Alilaguna Blue Line vaporetto stop at San Zacarria. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good buffet breakfast included, as is Wi-Fi. Rooms are on small... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
