2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

We first stayed at the Messner Hotel two years ago on an Easy Jet package and found it excellent value for money, well-placed, clean and with friendly staff, so we had no hesitation in returning this year on a British Airways package for a four-night stay. This time we were in a building just around the corner that I assume... More

We stayed here with a group of school students on a study tour from Australia. Excellent location - away from the hustle and bustle but only 1 vaporetto stop directly across the Grand Canal from Piazza San Marco. Signor Tony and staff at reception were friendly, welcoming and extremely obliging. Great breakfast. Rooms were clean and comfortable, although some a... More

We would rate the hotel a 2 out of 5 because it wasn't worth the price we paid, but since the location was great we gave it a 3. Tiny, run down room, moldy shower, uncomfortable bed and the food is not worth trying. Breakfast is ok but minimal. Friendly hotel staff and clean enough.

My girlfriend and I visited Venice for the first time and we were not disappointed. The Hotel Messner is full of charm, a bit of romance, and with great customer service. Off the beaten path but within minutes to all the great sites that make Venice what it is. We traveled off season, and the rate for the room was... More

I spent three nights in this hotel. It was December, so cold outside. The room itself was spotless, cosy and warm! It was cleaned each day. We where in the annex, so had to go outside, and down the street to go for breakfast The breakfast was one of the best that I have ever had in Venice, so it... More

Your score 10 This is an excellent value for money hotel in centre of Venice. Relatively easy way to get to along Giudecca Canal without having to go through crowded tourist streets. Lovely view from our window with greenery which is at premium in Venice. Also very quiet. The hotel was very nicely decorated and maintained. Breakfast was simple but... More

Ultimately, it's a two-star hotel, so the décor etc won't set the world on fire, but for what it is, it's very good. The staff are very helpful, the location fantastic and the rooms very comfortable. Breakfast seems generally to be included, and is good. The stay represented fantastic value for money; I got 10 euro off for liking it... More

2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2015

We spent 3 nights at Hotel Messner 29th December - 1st January, 2015. To start with the positive experiences the location is really convenient, by foot just as well as by vaporetto or airport shuttle boat (Alilaguna) easy to reach. The breakfast was OK, their sweet breads are really nice, but the rest is average or bit below. Our room... More

Lovely location for a hotel in Venice - far enough away from the hustle and bustle of San Marco, but easy enough to get to anywhere. (Especially if you use the vaporetti - water buses. I recommend a multi-day vaporetto pass from Venezia Unica). The hotel is clean and tidy. The staff are welcoming and very helpful. The breakfast was... More

Loved this little hotel, great location - and very friendly staff. Bedroom was good size, powerful shower and the beds were v comfy : ) Brekky was good, we wouldn't have minded something hot, as was all cereals & croissants. But this was all made up in there dinner. Slightly over priced for what they offer, but all in all... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
