We had nice clean room with separated bathroom, which was old but also clean. Breakfast was served in main building in the same street. On the reception they didn't have any information about carnival in the city centre.

We booked via LTours, did not expect much, but the room we got (33) did not correspond to the pictures of the hotels homepage and therefore with what we expected. - booked 3-bed-standard-room. Besides the double bed there was a third bed just put (temporary?) in front of the window, next to the bath-door, without any light et cetera. -... More

The location of hotel Messner is fine, We booked online and were hit with extra fees when we checked in. It is really not honest to display a price excluding the mandatory taxes etc that must be passed on, but this hotel thinks its a great way to get business. I felt ripped off whilst checking in. The receptionist is... More

A warm room, dry and safe. When in Venice you should be out enjoying the sights, sounds and food on offer. Shower was good in my room. They held my bags in the morning as I had an evening flight. Breakfast was ok. Didn't have an evening meal so can't comment. One manager was a little short on humour. That would... More

We have stayed here several times over the years and sent many others to stay here. It's an ideal, quiet location and it's affordable too, but this time was awful. They encouraged us to use the safe and someone stole money our family gave us from our wedding. There was black mold all over the shower. No one has swept... More

The hotel was clean and the restaurant sold good food, the staff were great and very helpful. If you are looking for a hotel out of the way of the city centre this hotel is for you. The hotel is not near many attractions and the ferry has to be ridden to reach many cafes and touristy spots. I enjoyed... More

The hotel is simple yet lovely. :) the rooms are just as they show in the pictures and the breakfast was delicious. We've had some issues with our bedroom at first and those were quickly fixed. Toni was by far kindest member of staff and he immediately moved us to a better bedroom as soon as he heard of the... More

My mother always said, if you can't say anything nice about something, don't say anything at all. So I'll say very little other than do your research and check your booking details especially if going through a third party. It certainly wasn't what we expected and so we were disappointed but it is what it is and as they say... More

We booked this hotel mainly because the price was affordable. We stayed one night: the location was really good! Really helpful owner and staff and the rooms were like we expected, small but cozy. Maybe wouldn't stay here for a week, but for this short visit, this was a really good choice. Breakfast was a really positive surprise, really versatile... More

Heart does not mean San Marco! Close enough to 2 valporetto waterbus stop for both line 1 and the express line 2 for quick hop to where you want! The rialto market? Lido beach? What ever by foot or boat and away from the crowd! There is a little gelato and sandwich shop round the corner. Breakfast is ggggreeaattt for... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
