Basic, very clean, at a reasonable price. Located close to St. Toma station and only 10 minutes of pleasant walk along canals from the central bus station. Simple breakfast with a very good coffee. I recommend this hotel if you are travelling with your family and on the budget.

This hotel is situated on a beautiful quiet street, within easy walking distance to the main attractions. This was one of the cheapest hotels we could find and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The rooms are basic and we had a shared bathroom but everywhere was clean and functional. Staff were very friendly and I got the impression it... More

Locanda Ca' Foscari is a small hotel/hostel, which has quite basic rooms and facilities. I had booked a single with ensuite, but upgraded to a double (Rm 9) which was still small, but was a corner room with two windows and a nice view. The owner was very helpful and friendly, including coming to find me when I got a... More

We booked a room with its own bathroom. It was clean but very basic. It was situated in St. Toma which is a lovely part of the city to explore and has great restaurants and eateries. The bathroom was small but clean. Our host was polite and helpful.

Booking: Found a room for almost half the price listed on their own website, on Booking.com. Hassle-free booking. Location: The Google Maps location is accurate Arrival: The receptionist was matter-of-fact, nice and efficient. There is also a tourist tax of 1-2 Euro that wasn't included in the price. Room: The first floor, where the rooms were, is up two steep... More

I had a small one bedroom with bathroom and shower. Bed was narrow but a decent length. The bathroom was small and cramped and shower was small. The owners were very pleasant and polite. The room was kept clean and the bed linen and towels were replaced daily.

Do not stay at this hotel if you are looking for luxes. However, if you are williing to find a place well located, clean, cosy and not very expensive, then this is the right place to be. The staff who welcomed us was very kind and we had everything we needed: two comfortable beds, towels and a clean bathhroom and... More

So very disappointing. This is the first hotel I have ever written a bad review about. The owner was incredibly rude, the rooms were dirty, the shower soaked the bathroom floor, the towels had holes in them and smelt bad, there was a curfew, the room was very buggy, it was very noisy allll night outside of our windows, and... The only good thing we can say about this hotel is that it has a decent location (once you locate it). Unfortunately during our stay, there was construction surrounding the hotel which meant loud noise and smell from the water. This is definitely a budget hotel - dated stale smelling and not kept up. We would not recommend.

This hotel has a good central location, clean rooms and a friendly owner. The only downsides was the price ( though the cheapest we could find at that time) and shared lavatory, which probably you can avoid by ordering a room that has one of it's own.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
