We stayed here for three nights in July, 2014. Our room was #34, which provided great views of the incredible boat traffic in the lagoon. The room was small, the bathroom was adequate, the shower was tiny, and as another reviewer noted, why do these places keep the bidet? FYI, the wi-fi worked well in the room. This place has... More

La Calcina is the perfect home base from which to explore Venice. The best part was having a water taxi deliver us from Marco Polo airport right to the front door. Transfering our bags couldn't have been easier. The staff were attentive and helpful and the restaurant a great place to have breakfast and dinner.

If you like a hotel that is not soulless but has a feel of being family owned(I don't know whether it is!) you can't do better than this. It is perfectly situated away from the hoardes of people but with fab views and right on a large canal. The restaurant is on a floating deck on the water and to... More

We chose La Calcina as I had stayed there previously with my children and was impressed then; and so had no hesitation in going ahead and booking again. The rooms are classic Venician in style, utilising vintage furnishings and are clean with a good size bathroom. All of the staff both front of house and behind the scenes are welcoming... More

La Calcina is at an excellent location, as it is removed from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy parts of Venice, while it still fairly close to everything (via the Zattere station, which is less than a minute's walk away). It boasts a beautiful on-the-water terrace, where you can enjoy your breakfast (and lunch and dinner, if you... More

Hotel rooms in Venice are simply expensive - very expensive; and Calcina is no exception. As a room we felt we had gone back twenty years - brown, small room limited bathroom space (who today has a bidet and a nylon shower curtain?), tiny tv on a shelf, great view of a wall. At 230-250 euro per night it is... More

We enjoy visiting Venice for short breaks, and after 3 years it was time for another. Once again we chose La Calcina for its location, its comfortable ambiance, and the sheer quality of the experience. We again selected a room with a view up and across the Giudecca canal, and although the room seemed smaller than we remembered, we again... More

Excellent location: away from main tourist paths, in front of Zattere station, so you will not get lost looking for he hotel and easy to get to places. Nice 15 minute walk to San Marco square. Breakfast: very good in Venice standards, juices, cereals, pastries, yoghurt, cheese/ham, boiled eggs, fruit salad and fruits, etc. also if the weather is good... More

Great location, good ambience! Spacious room, clean, no problems with internet connection, fridge and Cable TV. The receptionist / staff was very helpful... The breakfast was good... I will be back...

Just 100m from the water bus stop so very convenient when getting to and from airport. Rooms were comfortable, if quite neat in size.Service very friendly. Excellent breakfast to start the day. Unfortunately the restaurant was undergoing refurbishment during our visit. Good value for money
