We had the most wonderful time at La Calcina. If you want to be away from the crowds this is it. We had a small side room but if you peered round the shutters you could just see the canal which was a bonus as we werent expecting it. Room was small but adequate for our needs. Great shower. My... This is a lovely place to stay it is more like being in a home than at a hotel, many of the rooms have splendid views and the restaurant is very good, staff also very friendly and pleasant. Right now, it is good value, but they are renovating, but hopefully it will retain its olde worlde charm and good value!

Fabulous stay for a week we couldn't have asked for better. Very comfortable staff very helpful breakfasts on the waterfront memorable. So convenient for the water bus stop. The hotel was quiet at night and the rooms kept scrupulous clean we highly recommend hotel and area and loved every moment saving for another visit.

Very nice hotel located close enough to all the action but far enough away to get some peace and quiet. Staff was very nice and helpful. When you arrive, be sure to take the 5.2 or the 2 water bus, don't make mistake of trying to carry bags across the city and the number of bridges you will inevitably encounter.

We had 3rd floor corner room (304 maybe?) and it had a gorgeous view. This is a great hotel to stay at if you want to get away from the crowds after a day of sight-seeing. Fun to look out and see massive cruise ships going by along side small fishing boats. The Zattere waterbus stop is a mere 5... More

La Calcina is a charming little hotel in my favorite area of Venice, Zattere - uncrowded, classy streets filled with charming boutiques and wonderful little restaurants, not to mention the Peggy Guggenheim Museum. Our room, #23, at La Calcina was charming, comfortable, quiet and had a view you could only get in Venice - the Grand Canal. I appreciated the large... More

We stayed here for three nights in July, 2014. Our room was #34, which provided great views of the incredible boat traffic in the lagoon. The room was small, the bathroom was adequate, the shower was tiny, and as another reviewer noted, why do these places keep the bidet? FYI, the wi-fi worked well in the room. This place has... More

La Calcina is the perfect home base from which to explore Venice. The best part was having a water taxi deliver us from Marco Polo airport right to the front door. Transfering our bags couldn't have been easier. The staff were attentive and helpful and the restaurant a great place to have breakfast and dinner.

If you like a hotel that is not soulless but has a feel of being family owned(I don't know whether it is!) you can't do better than this. It is perfectly situated away from the hoardes of people but with fab views and right on a large canal. The restaurant is on a floating deck on the water and to... More

We chose La Calcina as I had stayed there previously with my children and was impressed then; and so had no hesitation in going ahead and booking again. The rooms are classic Venician in style, utilising vintage furnishings and are clean with a good size bathroom. All of the staff both front of house and behind the scenes are welcoming... More
