Hotel is in a good, quiet location but was definitely a bit tired and faded, the breakfast buffet was adequate but the table cloth was covered in a sheet of plastic, it wouldn`t take much for it to be a great boutique hotel but needs a bit of a makeover. Agree with comment about the lady receptionist, she booked us... More

An incredible sight when you walk in the door... blown glass chandeliers, painted ceilings and old world charm. A renovated mansion with the front door right on a canal, the fruit and vegetable vendor in his boat in front. A great location near the Acadamia and about a 10 minute walk to Piazza San Marco. There are some local restaurants... More

We spent two nights at this hotel, and it was just wonderful - The location is just unbeatable, close to all the major things in Venice - The style is just the typical Palazzo - The room size is big and comfortable. - The check in person (a gentleman) was very pleasant, even assisted with the bags - Breakfast was... We arrived early in the afternoon and was ready to check in but couldn't find our apartment! A word of advise when in Venice, if you are going for the first time, please book a hotel. Not some private apartment as it may be a bit challenging locating it whilst lugging your luggage and kids! Anyway, we eventually found our... More

Great location, lovely hotel. I stayed here on a 5 night solo break in Venice and have to say, the location was fantastic, the staff very friendly, helpful and welcoming and the room was very comfortable. I had emailed ahead and asked for a room on the first floor and my request was accommodated. Situated on a quiet canal street,... More

This small hotel had a great location off of the high traffic areas in Dorsoduro but convenient to everything. It was charming throughout, from the entry lobby to the quiet breakfast courtyard to the tilted stone staircase that led upstairs to our guest room. We felt immediately at home here and would highly recommend it!

I loved the people that worked there! They have the most comfortable bathtub I have ever been in. And the hotel was gorgeous! They also provided great breakfast every morning with amazing coffee! I would stay there again again and again😊

This place is an old house restored artfully to create the hotel. It has frescos on ceiling and room are nicely sized. The entrance has a nice opening. Staff here are friendly and helping. Also this place is about one km from station and around same from San mark square. However be warned between the 10 thousand little bridges and... More

Nice small hotel. Friendly staff. Much better from inside than what it may seem from outside. Within 15mins walk of all major attractions. Note : it's 10 mins walk from railway station only if with very light luggage as you have to cross many small bridges.

Hotel Pausania is small (24 rooms) in the Dorsoduro area which is not as full of tourists as other areas. The hotel is just a few minutes' walk from the water bus to the airport, and from the Accademia (well worth visiting). There are numerous cafes, restaurants and shops nearby. Our room was large by Italian standards, and sooo quiet,... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
