There were so many things about the Pausania to like that, added together, they form a wonderful whole: * The building has real character, the rooms are clean and warm. * The staff were always helpful and friendly. * It is well situated, ~10 minutes walk from the Accademia Bridge, 15 minutes from the Rialto and only ~200 m from... So glad we chose this place. Be warned about the stairs, but this is just part of the character of the building due to its age. Don't come here if you want shiny over-modern finishes. The entrance stone stairs winds up and then opens out into a pleasant sitting room. This larger communal area has a 1st floor balcony that... More

We loved this hotel. Friendly staff, helpful and informative. It's close to where we like to be and near a vapiretto stop. Breakfast buffet is plentiful and varied and staff are super helpful. We used to rent an appartment (for four years) and before that, other hotels, but this one is perfect for what we need, It is in our... More

We stay here by choice. We have always found the staff friendly and helpful. The Hotel is ideally situated away from the crowds on St Mark's but close to many major attractions. The rooms we have stayed in are all spacious and the beds comfortable. We have already booked our next visit.

We chose to stay away from the hub bub and Hotel Pausania was a perfect location. Water taxis are close by and all the historic sites are within a reasonable walking distance. We walked every where. It was great. Our room was clean and comfortable. We loved the tolling bells and never found them to be disturbing. The hotel staff... More

Hotel Pausania gets a big thumbs up from my family of three. My husband, 17-year-old son, and I went to Venice and stayed a this hotel for 4 days in July 2014. Here's the highlights: 1. Great location, near the water taxi stops. You can walk to and from the water taxis stops and roll your luggage. 2. Breakfast in... More

Very nice staff, very clean everywhere, poor breakfast, the room without view(ours at least). During the night the bells of the church nearby rings every half hour(it doesn t disturb us, but others complains about it). Otherwise very quiet street. Old furniture, but charming after all.

This hotel is the antidote to the standard international 5* 'could be anywhere' hotel. Situated in a quiet, but delightful, area of Dorsoduro on the Fondamenta Gherardini. Dating back to the 14th century, the Hotel is a warren of little staircases and open salons following the ascent of the wonderful, leaning, slightly insecure feeling, stone staircase which leads up from... A great part of our stay in beautiful Venice was coming back to the charming Hotel Pausania each night. From September 8-13th, we stayed in room #307which was probably the very farthest room upstairs from the lobby. It is a small but doable standard room with a courtyard view from the bedroom and a charming rooftop view from the bathroom... More

Very nice hotel, although the room was small (very "Venetian") it was very comfortable. We liked the location, as it was very close to two very nice Campos and a short distance to the water taxis. If you go, for the first time, it is very advisable to pick up a better map from a street vendor for about 3... More
