Pros- Great friendly reception staff always helpful. Quiet location but well placed as a base, cosy and warm. Cons- Poor basic breakfast, small room. Not disappointed at all with the hotel and would stay here again happily but I like to try somewhere different 😀

Loved this hotel - a little hidden gem! Spacious and quiet ground floor room facing the back garden, excellent sleep quality. Reasonable sized bathroom. Simple furniture but very functional. Service good--very friendly and helpful staff. Very convenient location too- only 10 mins to Piazzale Roma Car park/coach station. In general, no problem at all! even better than expected. Will recommend.

We stayed here as a family of 4, in two rooms, during the run up to Christmas and found the hotel delightful. It is a little piece of Italian history. Our room was a little dark with small windows and shutters but this was an advantage, we felt, and helped us sleep better than usual. The rooms were clean and... More

The hotel was booked with good references. However, on arrival our room key was demanded every time we left the hotel. The front desk woman scorned and treated us like dogs. Whistling for the key as we left. She was also offended that we didn't agree with the key policy and refused to give us her name and covered her... More

I'm a first timer in Europe and My first Hotel stay was this Hotel Pausania... I have researched night and day and months in advance and I have to say most reviews given alot in Venice particularly were mostly complaints of how there were no elevators or no customer service.. Hotel Pausania esp had really mixed reviews but I went... More

This is a lovely old building in a nice quiet location. I liked this hotel, a little piece of Venetian history, charming and quaint. The décor is of an old elegance rather than a modern elegance. After an initial mix up with my room booking, which couldn't be rectified for a couple of days, as they were fully booked, I... More

Nice enough hotel, women behind reception was not overly friendly. We had a good room on the ground floor right next to reception which was nice, i sort of liked the fact it was old as it felt like authentic Italy, but at the same time it was basic and a bit dingy. It was clean so i can't fault... More

Like most places in Venice, Hotel Pausania has been converted several times over the centuries. Interesting architecture, and a variety of rooms and lobbies; including an amazing external staircase. Room comfort is ok, but nothing luxurious.

This Venetian hotel has a shell from the 14 th century as seen in the foyer courtyard with its beautiful old sloping stone steps leading to a second level . However, once inside you find an elegance and style in the lighting, decor and furniture. The breakfast room opens onto a grassy back courtyard -a surprise in grass less Venice.... More

Checked out of here this morning. Booked at the absolute last minute as i had very few options. Read in reviews on trip advisor that the location was good and that indeed it was. Unfortunately that's where the good part ends. Drab room. Clean but very basic. Go here for no frills at all. Breakfast was the exact same every... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
