Just returned after spending 5 nights and this hotel was very special. It was located in the best area of Venice and what a welcome retreat after the hoards of visitors in the centre. We really enjoyed walking around the area and it was so peaceful. It was perfectly located for the museums and antique shops and felt very "artisitc"!... More

Stayed here for my birthday last year and it was extremely special. The location of this hotel is really good and the overall feel was incredibly romantic. My wife and I had a truly memorable and wonderful stay. I would have absolutely no hesitations in recommending this hotel whatsoever. Although do be aware that during the summer months, the mosquito... More

I had planned a visit that encompassed taking my 14 year old daughter on a holiday where she could see the sites, I could take lots of photos and we could meet up with my son who was on a month’s trip around Europe. I was looking for a hotel that had character, was away from the centre but not... More

Lovely little hotel with a brilliant location in the Dorsoduro area. The rooms was small but had everything needed. The bathroom was lovely and the shower was powerful. Breakfast was continental, but just what was needed to start the day. Staff are friendly, special mention to the young man at breakfast. The hotel is situated on a smaller canal with... More

Easy walk down quiet canal, close to Grand Canal Water Taxi (Ca Rezzonico), easy access to St. Marcos Sq. (15 minutes), Academia & Guggenheim (10 minutes), easy 3 minute stroll to Campo Santa Margherita for dinner and people watching. Clean, well kept, helpful and very pleasant, English speaking staff. Breakfast well done next to small garden...excellant cappuccino on request. No... More

My wife and I entered Hotel Pausania as the first stop on our honeymoon and were very happy to have this hotel be our first stop! Service was fantastic from the start, the room was a beautiful room that had great air con, a comfy bed, great decor that looks to have aged gracefully. The breakfasts included were spectacular, great... More

Nice choice to stay in Venice. It is located near the center of the town, 5 minutes walk from two water-bus stations. You can get there easily from the car parking place inTronchetto. They offer a nice breakfast. VERY friendly staff, always with a smile on their face. If I ever visit Venice again, it will be my 1st choice!

This hotel, once you find it, is on a quiet canal in the Dorsoduro neighborhood. Make sure you depart at vaparetto stop, Ca' Rezzonico, to avoid carrying your luggage up and down stairs. Nice lobby and dining room with average breakfast. Very quiet, no lift.

Hotel is in a good, quiet location but was definitely a bit tired and faded, the breakfast buffet was adequate but the table cloth was covered in a sheet of plastic, it wouldn`t take much for it to be a great boutique hotel but needs a bit of a makeover. Agree with comment about the lady receptionist, she booked us... More

An incredible sight when you walk in the door... blown glass chandeliers, painted ceilings and old world charm. A renovated mansion with the front door right on a canal, the fruit and vegetable vendor in his boat in front. A great location near the Acadamia and about a 10 minute walk to Piazza San Marco. There are some local restaurants... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
