Just come back from a 5 day trip to Venice and we stayed at the Galleria room 8, the best room for a couple, in my opinion ! Everything said before is absolutely true, it's really a find ! Luciano greeted us when we arrived and gave us very good tips for restaurants ( Casin dei Nobili et Oniga are... More

I'd have to echo all of the privious Reviews -- good service, good breakfast, GREAT location, etc.). Belive me, never in my life did I ever think that I'd have the chance to stay ON the Grand Canal (I've been to Venice twice previously). I'd never stayed in a one-star in my life, either, but the Galleria was definitely a... More

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Galleria for the second time over Thanksgiving 2008 and it was even better that we'd remembered it. Our room had a private bath and a large window that opened up directly on the Grand Canal...how could you ask for anything more?! The room was small, but it's perfect for enjoying a glass of... This small hotel is in a great location right by the Accademia Bridge on the Grand Canal. The breakfast provided in your room is excellent (croissants, bread and cheese, yoghurt, nice strong coffee). The staff are friendly and willing to help. The only bad points: The walls are quite thin, and noise travels easily. A "room with a view" is... More

We spent 3 nights in this pleasant hotel located directly on the Grand Canal. Isn’t that what Venice is all about? Open your window and there it is! Even though it was November, we were able to sleep with our window open each night and listen to the water and sounds of the city. The room was quaint and cozy... More

We just loved this hotel! I actually made a mistake and booked the hotel for the wrong date! when we showed up they accomodated our party and since they didn't have enough rooms (my mistake) they helped the rest of our party get rooms right down the street which were nice too! Very Nice Staff that speaks English. Hotel Galleria... More

Look no furher than the Galleria Hotel if you want a serene, civilised and amazingly located hotel in Venice. The staff were charming and I doubt you would be better looked after anywhere in this lovely city. Close to everything it could not have been more covenient and worth twice the price for the lovely views of the Grand Canal.... More

This Hotel sits on the Grand Canel and is 75m from Accademia Bridge and very easy to find. In Venice that means something lol? Rooms are small in our case (1.7m wide) but clean and a view of the Grand Canal to die for. Very easy to get around Venice with San Marco Palazzo only 600m by boat. Stefano one... More

My husband and I stayed at one of the rooms overlooking the Grand Canal for 3 nights this past September and I wholeheartedly agree with the positive reviews that this B & B has received. Excellent location, friendly staff and best value for your money! Every morning, we looked forward to the yummy croissant and cafe au lait, etc. seated... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
