Great location, fulfilled all expectations and then some! Great B&B, gorgeous view of canal right by academia bridge, 7-8 minute walk. Room was a little shabby, but clean, with an old charm. Loved the bay window overlooking the Grand Canal, and breakfast brought to the room! And when we unexpectedly arrived late into the night, the innkeeper stayed up and... More

I stayed here on a whim for one night in a very hot June and it was lovely. The staff are amazingly helpful and welcome - waiting for us as we arrived on a late train and directing us to a restaurant that would be open at midnight. I took one of the last available rooms, which I was told... More

This hotel is conveniently located next to Ponto Accademia and is very charming. Our room was quite small, but clean. Breakfast was served to the room, and the first morning the croissants were wonderfully fresh and warm. On the second day we were leaving early, and were given packaged croissants as the bakery ones were not yet available. There is... More

I was determined that I wanted a room with a view of the Grand Canal, but was daunted by the prices and the minimum stays. I am so glad I found the Hotel Galleria! We were offered our choice of 2 rooms with Canal views, and we took room #9. We arrived by train and took the Vaporetto to the... More

We recently stayed here for 2 nights, it is the perfect location to everything we wanted to see all the staff were very helpful this is a one star hotel but it has earned more than that in my opinion the room and bathroom were literally spotless and it had a beautiful feel to it, free wifi, free water, beautiful... We have stayed at the Hotel Galleria twice now, the first time about five years ago, and our current visit this past May. We booked the same room for both visits, the wonderful Room 8, with its arched windows that open out onto the Grand Canal. The Hotel Galleria is in a great location, just a few steps from the... We just spent 2 nights at Hotel Galleria and really enjoyed it. The location is spectacular -right on the Grand Canal, next to The Accademia vaporetto stop and the Accademia bridge! Stefano was so helpful and welcoming. The hotel is part of one of the spectacular grand homes along the Canal that are over 400 years old...so amazing. Each morning... More

Everything about the Hotel Galleria was exceptional from the location, to the amazing and very helpful staff, to the great breakfast, and the clean and quaint rooms. Will certainly stay there again on my next vacation to Italy.

Just look at the photo of the view from the room. You can't find anything better for the price! The room is your typical European sized room- ask for a room with a bathroom when booking. (Some rooms share one.) Free cold bottled water and great staff with the best view in the house. We loved sitting in our room... More

The location of this small inn is wonderful. Easy to arrive from the airport with a short walk from the boat Stop. The water taxis stop is steps from the front door when you are ready to explore. We walked to almost all we wanted to see from the inn easily. But the most fabulous is having breakfast overlooking the... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
