Try this hotel to feel like a local Venetians. Fantastic view of Grand Canal by your window. The breakfast served was marvelous. The room is small but the location is great. You can just take a gondola ride just outside the hotel next to Academia bridge.

Charming, Quirky, Right on the Grand Canal You know who you are. If you think you might like a charming, quirky, somewhat down-in-the-heel hotel in a superb location directly on the Grand Canal, with a lovely breakfast served in your room, friendly owners and a low price, this is the hotel for you. It’s in an easy-to-walk neighborhood—just steps from... More

My wife and I recently spent a night at the Galleria. We chose the hotel based on favorable reviews in Tripadvisor and it's reasonable (for Venice) price per night. Other reviews have preferred to the hotel as small and charming. We would choose the words run down and decrepit. Our room (8) was supposed to be one of the largest... More

Interesting review sir, we think that it's clear that the Galleria is a one star hotel but sometimes we realize that for some people it's not. You have been a bit too negative, too easy for us say that the day before some other guest said that the mattresses were perfect. Interesting the climbing thing, never heard in 20 years…... More

Dorsoduro is a great place to stay in Venice. Hotel Galleria is right on the Grand Canal, for a nice view and easy access to Academia and charming areas to walk, dine and shop. I would definitely recommend this area over the crowded tourist San Marco area. Breakfast was delicious. Room was small, but met our needs. Staff is friendly... More

I, too, found this little gem through Rick Steve's guide. It was a wonderful stay. Traveling solo, I enjoyed having a small but quaint room with large windows that opened directly on to the Grand Canal with a view of Accademia bridge and the museum! The owners and their staff were wonderful. The shared bathroom for my single was down... More

Had a quick 2 night stay in September. Outstanding location. Walked to many sites with ease. Purchased a vaporetto pass and enjoyed proximity to the stop. Breakfast was prompt and good. Had the room with private bath and breakfast nook overlooking the grand canal. Room was small but larger than expected from photos. Would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I found this hotel through Rick Steve's. This was a great place for us to stay. It had a beautiful view of the grand canal, the owners were so sweet to us, it was a very central location and didn't have to walk more than 15 minutes to major sites. It also had a lot of charm... More

Absolutely enjoyed our corner room with it's wonderful view right on the Grand Canal. The shared bathroom is very small but kept clean and we had no issues except maybe sore elbows. The location fully immerses you with all the activity going on both at the Academia Bridge and along the Grand Canal. The Vaperetto is just a few steps... More

Loved this hotel, although I can see why it isn't for everyone. It is an old hotel, which means it has tons of character and oozes with charm, but it's old...it isn't a shiny new luxurious hotel. I had a small room (I was by myself on this leg of my trip) that faced the Grand Canal. It is right... More

The hotel was located on the Grand Canal in Venice, that in itself is a great attraction. Only 10 rooms in the hotel so if you want to face the canal you need to reserve early. Nice breakfast served every morning in your room. The room however is so small that it is difficult to enjoy the breakfast. Additionally, the... More
