Great location at the centre of Venice, walking distance to San Marco, Rialto and many other touristic places. Zattere and Accademia water bus station just in front of the hotel.Breakfast was very good when compared to European cuisine. :) The only negative thing about the hotel was wifi. It was free but not very strong in the room.

We parked at Tronchetto and took the ferry to a stop near by the hotel. Do not be afraid of the entrance, the hotel is really nice with a very friendly staff. Not all rooms has a toilette, but i did not matter( we usally stay in topped ranged hotel) . In hotel you stay in the center of the... More

The first 2 nights I stayed in a double room in front of the bridge which was very nice. The last 2 nights I needed a room and they showed me a small twin room on the canal which was great for my purposes, but they chose not to tell me that the WiFi was not working. I get that... More

Great location on the Grand Canal at the foot of the Accademia bridge. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast brought to your room as there is no "breakfast room". Very nice eating with the window open overlooking the Grand Canal. Less than 50ft. to the door of the Accademia museum or the... More

This hotel is a collection of beautiful, Venetian-style rooms overlooking the Grand Canal. The views from the hotel windows are straight out of postcards! The rooms are done in a traditional style, but are pristine and really well maintained (unlike some hotels in Italy where "traditional" means a but shabby). Our room was incredibly spacious - it felt like a... More

We stayed here for two nights and loved it. You're far enough away from the Rialto bridge so it doesn't feel too crowded, but you're right next to the beautiful Accademia bridge and very close to a vapporetto stop. We had a view of the Accademia bridge and every morning an amazing breakfast of fresh pastries, toast with marmalade, cheese,... More

Great location, fulfilled all expectations and then some! Great B&B, gorgeous view of canal right by academia bridge, 7-8 minute walk. Room was a little shabby, but clean, with an old charm. Loved the bay window overlooking the Grand Canal, and breakfast brought to the room! And when we unexpectedly arrived late into the night, the innkeeper stayed up and... More

I stayed here on a whim for one night in a very hot June and it was lovely. The staff are amazingly helpful and welcome - waiting for us as we arrived on a late train and directing us to a restaurant that would be open at midnight. I took one of the last available rooms, which I was told... More

This hotel is conveniently located next to Ponto Accademia and is very charming. Our room was quite small, but clean. Breakfast was served to the room, and the first morning the croissants were wonderfully fresh and warm. On the second day we were leaving early, and were given packaged croissants as the bakery ones were not yet available. There is... More

I was determined that I wanted a room with a view of the Grand Canal, but was daunted by the prices and the minimum stays. I am so glad I found the Hotel Galleria! We were offered our choice of 2 rooms with Canal views, and we took room #9. We arrived by train and took the Vaporetto to the... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
