Why not 5 stars? Space. I'll get to that. This was a charming hotel off a quiet alley just a few minutes from a vaporetto stop and near to San Marco square which was very convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful. They gave us a map with directions to places and we NEVER got lost (a rarity in Venice).... More

My husband and I just spent three nights the the Hotel Flora. The most notable things about this lovely hotel are the location, the amazing staff and the breakfast. The location is just a short walk to San Marco Square tucked in a hidden alleyway. It's far enough to be away from the crowds but close enough to make it... More

We had the pleasure to stay in this typical Venetian hotel for two nights. The decoration is stunning, old, ornate and full of Murano chandeliers and mirrors. It sets the mood for a real Venetian experience. The staff was very helpful, especially the porter, concierge and breakfast manager. Dont expect a mini bar nor hogh tec TV etc. it's not... More

My family and I occupied two rooms for our stay in Venice. We were five adults and a two year old. We had been to Venice before during a pre cruise experience but did not feel like we experienced Venice at that time. Hotel Flora provided the perfect setting for us to begin our Venice experience. Our rooms were filled... More

This hotel oozes old world charm. Beautiful rooms. Fabulous breakfast with a super efficient waiter. The front desk people are very helpful, recommending places to eat and arranging an early morning water taxi to the train station. Perfect stay!

This is a lovely hotel in the San Marco area. Beautiful courtyard garden with places to have your breakfast. Excellent buffet breakfast with lots of choices - meats, cheeses, delicious breads, juices and fruit. Relaxing way to start your day in Venice! We had a second floor room that had windows that opened to the small alleyway in front of... More

We stayed in the family room, which had lots of space - two bedrooms, a sitting room and a deck. The rooms were very nice, breakfast was great and the staff were very helpful. The location is very good - central, but just away from the crowds. And it's close to vaporetto dock and docks for water taxis.

We booked the family suite for four and it served its needs. I am somewhat of a giant of a man (over 6'4" with a size 16 shoe) so I am used to small European bathrooms, but these were even smaller. That's the only complaint at all. The staff was incredibly helpful and the buffet breakfast (while still a hotel... More

Of the 4 hotels we stayed in, on a recent trip to italy, this was by far the best. Had the best "continental" breakfast, and the Coffee they served was some of the best we tasted. Drinking a Spritz in the garden, in the evening was special. It is very close to San Marco, but far enough away from the... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
