Our family stayed in a quad room and it was actually quite large, in my opinion, by Italian standards. It had a lovely timber vaulted ceiling as it was on the top floor and tons of light from the large windows. We had a king bed, a twin and a rollaway along with a small table with 2 (or 3?)... More

Fabulous boutique hotel in a great location near St Mark's square. Wonderful staff, and fabulous breakfast. Darling flower garden courtyard to enjoy a coffee or a drink. Enjoyed the stay very much. Only 2 blocks from the water taxi at the canal. Highly recommended for a medium priced hotel.

First of all, I got lost trying to find it. It's located down a long, narrow walkway between two buildings. So do what I didn't do: read ALL the directions they give you and you won't have any trouble. Then there was the room. Small. Really small. But, you know what? It was neat as a pin and clean as... We recently had a four night stay at the Hotel Flora in Venice. What a superb bolt hole to be in very near to the extremely busy square Saint Marco and other popular sights but you just wouldn't know it. You could get right away from all of the hustle and bustle and relax over a 'spritz' in the small... More

Great little boutique hotel just off St. Marco Square. Quiet and comfortable but small. Yes, rooms are very small but clean and the price is right for being in the heart of the action. Staff is super friendly and helpful. The inner courtyard was great for breakfast and having a cocktail at the end of a busy day. Walk about... More

We stayed at this hotel for four days in March. The pros: Great location, extremely friendly staff, clean, charming, AMAZING breakfast that will fill you up for the day. The cons: hot water was sporadic and our room got quite warm because they had not yet turned on the air conditioning for the season. Overall I would definitely recommend this... More

I have stayed at Hotel Flora several times. The rooms are small but well air conditioned, a must for Venice. The hotel is a few minutes walk from San Marco Square. There are numerous neighborhood restaurants nearby. The hotel is family owned, and the staff are friendly and helpful. They know venice very well. The facility is old, but it is... More

This place is a gem with a courtyard that is a slice of tranquility away from the madness that is Venice in summer, and in the best location to walk to all the major attractions in Venice. It is literally 3 minutes to St Mark's Square and 5 to L'Accademia. The rooms are tiny, but that is to be expected... More

I'm trying to get up the willpower to finish packing but I don't wanna leave here! I'm in room 4 with a single bed. I'm with a group of friends but they are staying somewhere else. I found the room here at the Hotel Flora and I couldn't be happier The room is perfect. And oh the location !! The... More

Via water taxi from Marco Polo airport this charming little old world hotel is ideally situated close to the heart of St Mark's Square. It is tucked away off a busy street but easy to find. The hotel staff is extremely helpful, upbeat and very friendly. The rooms although small have high ceilings and are immaculately clean. We loved the... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
