I’m shocked to read the two reviews below from Giorgio S and Pino B – to me looks like a personal vendetta - I was in Venice the 6 of May 2014 and I stayed at Hotel DA Bruno. I did book online and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Once I arrived there and was welcomed by the friendly... More

We chose this hotel after reading Tripadvisor reviews, and I am very happy to add my own voice to those of so many satisfied customers. The welcome was genuine, the staff helpful at all times, and the accommodation simple and spotlessly clean. There is nothing not to like about this hotel at this price. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Hotel da Bruno for a week at the end of April, and we were very pleased with this choice. The hotel is conveniently located within easy walking distance of St. Mark’s plaza as well as the Rialto Bridge. Also, Fondamenta Nove, which is a good place to pick up the waterbus to the islands is very... More

Maybe larger rooms do better, but my single was an airless (but very clean) box looking onto a very quiet air shaft. I opened the window to get some air in there, but in the night I realized that was a big mistake... I was eaten by industrial-size mosquitoes and biting flies throughout the night. The thermostat was useless. The... More

Hotel is ideally located between St Mark's Square and the Grand Canal and our room was perfectly fine, although there was a bit of mould in the bathroom. The breakfast that was included was a standard hotel breakfast (toast, fruit, cheese, cut meats etc) but worked as a decent way to start the day and meant you could spend the... More

I'd forgotten how tricky it is to find things in Venice and this hotel was no exception. I had no idea where to go so asked at one of the big hotels in st Marc square who kindly gave me a map and highlighted my hotel on it. Finally found it. Looked nice from the outside but our room was... More

We stayed in Hotel Da Bruno for 2 days during our trip to Italy and we have only good things to say about it. It had the coziest room, the friendliest staff and the best breakfast out of all the hotels that we stayed in. Da Bruno's location couldn't be more perfect. It is 5 min by walk from both... More

This hotel is at the perfect location. Very Close to the St. Marc's square and the Rialto bridge. Nice cozy rooms. Very good breakfast. Friendly staff. Grocery store is right next to it so that also helps.

My Wife and I stayed at The Hotel da Bruno for three nights during our first visit to Venice together. We were not disappointed, it is fantastic location, just a short walk away from a Water Taxi landing stage which connects directly to Marco Polo Airport. I guess the journey takes about 30 minutes in either direction. A small point... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
