The staff were exceptionally friendly and really made our visit The rooms are tired and in need of renovation with the drainage in both our rooms being very poor The air conditioning thankfully was fantastic! Breakfast was average

After a very long hot transfer from the airport we arrived in San Marco. 2 adults 2 teenagers lugging our suitcases through the narrow streets in 36 degree heat it was such a relief to arrive at Hotel da Bruno. Check in was pre booked and very easy. The porter gave us each cold fresh juice and carried our bags... More

The hotel is located in a beautiful part of Venice and styled in an old style feeling, creating a historical atmosphere. The personnel are very kind and explain tours and give advice on key locations to visit. The breakfast is simply perfect with a range of different choices. Next door is a shop full of delicious Italian ice cream, wich... More

Lovely welcome from Hotel da Bruno, friendly staff (think family run), peaceful, air conditioned, clean. Walking distance to all the major sites, we were really surprised as we expected to be on a boat all the time but we were never more than 5 - 10 mins walk from where we needed to be. Breakfast was brilliant, one of the... More

When looking for a hotel one would always want to make sure that it's in the ideal location. This hotel was situated in the right place. Close to the supermarket and sights of Venice. Staff were very helpful and polite. Loved every moment of staying in Venice. Getting lost was the best part :)

Great location with lots of shopping, restaurants, and bars nearby and a short walk to St. Marco Square. We felt safe walking in the area in the evenings. Appreciated the glass of juice on check in as it was an extremely hot day! Check in was very quick, friendly staff and no language issues as all staff spoke English. No... More

Hotel easy access from Rialto vaporetto stop ( line 1 or 2). If coming from airport get Linea Aranchia (Orange Line) with Alilugana which is quicker than Rossa (red) route and stops at Rialto. From train station it is Linea 1 or 2. We were welcomed with glass of orange juice which was great in 35˚ C heat. No lift/elevator... More

We thougt staying in a Hotel in the centre of Venice would be very expensive, but then we found Da Bruno. Such a lovely hotel really central (between Rialto Bridge and St. Marks Square) for a fair price. The staff was very friendly! As there is no lift they wanted to carry our luggage to our room, but we did... More

We spent two nights at this lovely hotel. A relatively small family run hotel with a very good standard of decoration, services and cleanliness. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. We were on the second floor on the side of the hotel that gave a lovely view (in our minds) over the rooftops of buildings across the passageways and relatively... More

The hotel has one of the best location on Venice. Right in the middle of everything. Perfect. The staff of da Bruno is vvv helpful. In all my travels never come across such helpful people. Only downside tiny and old rooms and no lift. Because it's a 900 year old building. . But given the pluses it's negligible. . And... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
