We selected this hotel based on great reviews in Trip Advisor. The location is central and easy to find. We had an interesting walk from the water bus station at Rialto bridge to the hotel. We selected an apartment. We were rather surprise that the apartment assigned to us from Charming Venice apartments was quite a distance (about 20 minutes... More

Location is primary asset of hotel. Close to San Marcos and waterbus at Rialto. Helpful staff with dining recommendations, activities and directions. Breakfast satisfactory if basic. Room small but clean and basic. More than sufficient for a three day stay. Definitely would recommend and go back

Stayed at hotel da Bruno for 2 nights and couldn't have been better. Perfectly situated between Rialto bridge and saint Marco square, I was able to see everything I wanted in the short time I had. The breakfast is great, lots of variety. Rooms are a little on the small side, but nothing out of the ordinary for Europe. Everything... More

Stayed here last week, hotel was clean, nice hard beds which is great when you have a back problem. location was excellent, breakfast plentiful. No iron or laundry facilities with nothing nearby either so that was a bit of a let down. No tea/coffee facility either another let down.

Fantastic location, friendly and informative staff, small but clean and well designed rooms, good buffet breakfast - highly recommended at these prices! Open up the windows and let the sounds of the Venetian streets flow into your room :-)

The hotel is fairly standard. A nice size room which is very clean and well maintained. The hotel staff are friendly and it's in a great spot, once you find your barings. It can be a little noisy as with any old hotel building. We were a little concerned about the security with the bag storage though. The door was... More

The Da Bruno has a unrivaled location giving access to all the main tourist areas. The Hotel is spotlessly clean, comfortable and the staff are all very helpful and knowledgeable, this enabled us to make the very best of our stay.

Hotel located between Rialto Bridge and St Mark Square. Only one canal to cross which means pulling suitcases up steps, but hotel is on the same side as the water bus stop (don't cross the Rialto Bridge as we were directed to do!). It is a very comfortable hotel, rooms well furnished, bathroom quite small but has been squeezed into... More

Stayed here in a group of 7 for a celebratory holiday. Lovely hotel~ nice, clean, cosy rooms. Very friendly, helpful staff. Ideal location, close to the Rialto bridge. Lovely breakfast buffet and pleasant little bar area. Venice is pricey and noisy ~ so you must take these things as a given.

An ideal location for exploring Venice, situated between the Rialto bridge and Piazza San Marco (St. Mark's Square). Travelled to the hotel by vaporetto (water bus) down the grand canal, getting off at the Rialto bridge stop. The hotel was a 10 minute walk through the winding narrow streets (a map and directions are advised, although the hotel signage is... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
