This hotel was a great found! My husband and I are from the States. Venice was our last stop in Italy after Rome, Florence, Tuscany, on our way home. So we picked this hotel mostly for the location and the price that fit our budget. Frankly we really were more excited about running around Venice for last 4 days of... More

Room was a bit small but very comfortable and clean. Linen was soft and smooth. Great temperature. Shower/bath was average. Over all great quality! Breakfast was very correct with cereals, fruits, the usual bread butter cheese ham... The location is just perfect, right next to the St. Marco square... Really a few steps... The only disappointment was the coffee itself...... More

Hi, We stayed in the Annex building, the rooms were beautiful, clean and spacious, in a typical venetian building. Breakfast was continental, at the main hotel Casa Verardo. The hotel looked after us, and we would definitely go back.

I travel quite often to Venice and the Casa Verardo has definitely become my "casa" in this incredible city. Love the place, very classy and with a lot of charme. 'Xmas decorations were so accurate. I loved coming back at night and serve myself at the tee corner where daily homemade biscuits where always available to dunk. Thank you again... More

Just returned from a long weekend at the Casa Verardo. Beautiful, big and comfortable rooms, in a quiet corner yet just a short walk to piazza San Marco. There was an initial hiccup with our booking, but the staff couldn't have been more kind, helpful and accommodating - we would definitely stay again!! The hotel is full of Venetian character... After arriving in Venice in the pouring rain, arriving at cosy Casa Verardo was very welcome! Loved the quaintness and real Venetian décor of the hotel - very classy yet comfortable. We travelled with my 4 year old daughter and the hotel provided a rollout bed for her. The room was a little small with the extra bed but we... More

Casa Verardo is an elegant and charming boutique hotel offering so much comfort and joy that we kept refereeing to it as “Home & My Casa” during our 6 nights stay. The staff/s were quite professional, knowable, helpful, kind and caring. They made our stay and visit of the beautiful Venice most Enjoyable, Relaxing & Memorable. The Hotel/Casa location is... Wonderful hotel. Have stayed here about three or four times and is my hotel of choice in Venice. Quiet, family-run hotel off, but close to the beaten track: Piazza San Marco, Rialto Bridge. Breakfasts have a variety of quality foods. Stayed in room 202 overlooking the "crooked bridge." Charming. Decorated in the Venetian style with a Murano glass chandelier. Beautiful... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
