Beautiful dining room with better than average breakfast including bacon and scrambled eggs. Dining room also had tea making facilities that were open till 8pm at night - great for a tea addict in Italy :) Rooms were not huge but sufficient and of good quality. Shame we were put in the "Annexe" so not in the main part of... More

Great location near the action (5 minute walk to San Marco Square) but just off the beaten path. Staff was excellent - extremely friendly, made great restaurant recommendations, and arranged transportation. Rooms were as advertised - clean and cool. Would not hesitate to stay at Hotel Casa Verardo again.

Just a couple of minutes walk to St. Marks Square down a small alley and secluded from all the noise and activity. The rooms were very nice, bathrooms clean, excellent wifi and good air conditioning. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Breakfast was easy to access and had a good variety of items to choose from. I highly recommend this... More

A small and quaint hotel in Venice. The rooms were spotless, the private bathroom huge and service was above expectations! We highly recommend this hotel. Just close enough to St. marks Square but in 3 minutes you can be back in the quiet of your hotel which is located in a very quiet area. Front desk staff were always available... More

Wonderful, personal boutique hotel in Venice! Small air conditioned rooms but very nice. Excellent staff and excellent location. Hard to find if it is your first visit to Venice, but everything in Venice is hard to find if you have never been there before. Once you figure out everything it is only 5 minutes from St marks square and the... More

Lovely furnished hotel with excellent staff. Ideally situated close to St Mark's Square. Very comfortable rooms. Good breakfast and a nice little bar. Rooms very clean and towels changed daily. Could not fault it.

I recently stayed at the hotel casa Verardo in Venice just a 1 night stay. It is suitable for a short visit. The room is small and bathroom very small but all neat and clean. The breakfast is pretty ordinary, but if you just need something to fill your tummy then it is fine. The bar and garden areas are... More

Friends of us booked the hotel and we were so happy to stay here. Start, how to get here, as everywhere in Venice you take the boat and walk to your hotel. This hotel has the advantage that from the boat to the hotel there is only 1 bridge to cross.....convenient when you are older or have heavy luggage. The... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
