This was one of our most favorite hotels we experienced in Italy. Such a beautiful building and the rooms were gorgeous, small but gorgeous! My husband and I followed the very helpful instructions on their website to get from the water bus stop to the Hotel. Its a short walk but beware of one or two bridges you must haul... More

Good price and it was close to everything. I stayed at this hotel for one week my mother and I and we had great time in Venice. Our room was located 2 minutes walk from the main building where we had our free breakfast every morning. Room was cleaned by their staff every day and that's how we like it... More

The main Hotel looked nice, and was greeted straight away by a very welcoming receptionist and lovely dog! Was disappointed to find that the rooms was not in the main hotel, which this did not state anywhere on the website. We was given the impression that it would all be under one roof! Needless to say we eventually found the... More

It has been my dream to visit Venice since I was 11 or 12. Finishing my doctoral degree--I finally was able to reward myself with a trip to Venice. Not only is the Hotel Case Verardo-Residenza D'Epoca incredibly easy to find from arriving to the city, but the initial welcome begins your stay on the perfect note. This historic property... More

We were pleased with all aspects of the hotel apart from the small size of the rooms we had. Pictures on the web site are misleading. The rooms we had were not like those shown..They had good showers/bathrooms and were very clean.

Our room was fine, although it was quite small. It had two twin beds, two nightstands, and an alcove with a small chair and a wardrobe. There wasn't room to both open the door on the wardrobe and be able to walk between the chair and the end of the bed. (It didn't occur to me until just now that... More

This hotel is small and friendly and is in an excellent location. The decor and furnishings are traditional and attractive. Staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend this fabulous hotel to our friends and family :-).

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
