We had our second visit to Casa Verardo, this time for the Festa del Redentore, and again it was superb. The room was clean and well maintained, excellent facilities. We enjoyed our afternoon tea, a good selection of brews. The air conditioning was a life saver. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our return flight meant we had to... More

Concierge said he had a better room than the one I was scheduled to be booked in and said he would upgrade me for free. When he brought me to the room, it was the size of a closet. I could not even open my suitcase, thats how tight it was. He left the room before I could retort. I... More

Dear Sir/Madam, thank you for your feedback. Please consider upon check in we always upgrade Clients if a superior room than the one booked is available at that time. I do not agree to consider such behaviour a "scam". I am sorry and I do apologize if the room you were upgraded in did not meet your expections. Our concierge... More

This is a great hotel with wonderful staff, specially Luisa. A lot has all ready been said about its staff, location and amenities so the only extra I can add is our experience. We were a party of four with two young kids. Upon check out we had asked for a water taxi to be booked to take us to... More

We stayed in the annexe near the hotel which is very pleasant, but does not have the amenities of the hotel which meant a bit of organising to get extras. The Dining room was adequate and the breakfast good, the reception staff were excellent and their recommendations of places to eat were excellent. This did not matter to us as... More

Beautiful dining room with better than average breakfast including bacon and scrambled eggs. Dining room also had tea making facilities that were open till 8pm at night - great for a tea addict in Italy :) Rooms were not huge but sufficient and of good quality. Shame we were put in the "Annexe" so not in the main part of... More

Great location near the action (5 minute walk to San Marco Square) but just off the beaten path. Staff was excellent - extremely friendly, made great restaurant recommendations, and arranged transportation. Rooms were as advertised - clean and cool. Would not hesitate to stay at Hotel Casa Verardo again.

Just a couple of minutes walk to St. Marks Square down a small alley and secluded from all the noise and activity. The rooms were very nice, bathrooms clean, excellent wifi and good air conditioning. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Breakfast was easy to access and had a good variety of items to choose from. I highly recommend this... More

A small and quaint hotel in Venice. The rooms were spotless, the private bathroom huge and service was above expectations! We highly recommend this hotel. Just close enough to St. marks Square but in 3 minutes you can be back in the quiet of your hotel which is located in a very quiet area. Front desk staff were always available... More

Wonderful, personal boutique hotel in Venice! Small air conditioned rooms but very nice. Excellent staff and excellent location. Hard to find if it is your first visit to Venice, but everything in Venice is hard to find if you have never been there before. Once you figure out everything it is only 5 minutes from St marks square and the... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
